What Was in a Wallet Returned to Its Owner After 46 Years 

So my guess is someone on the cleaning crew found it, stole the check and dumped it in the crawl space to not get caught

...for real though giving her the wallet and a wad of cash was good stuff.

The wallet doesn’t matter, it’s the memories that really hit you hard.

That theater worker is very kind for tracking down the woman and even presenting her with a check for the money she lost that’s calculated to inflation. He could have just thought nothing of it and thrown the wallet out. I can’t imagine how sentimental it must have been for the woman getting back her wallet time capsule.

This is news I really like to see.. What a great moment for her! I understand it can be a really emotional experience.. It brings back memories, and you start to realize that time goes so fast.. I once found a stolen bag with my metal detector, it was buried in a forest. It still had a lot of stuff in it, only money was missing, but personal belongings were still in there.. I tracked down the owner, it was a very friendly old man.. Turns out it was his mother's bag who passed away by now. It got stolen over 20 years ago.. He got really emotional, all the items from his mother still in there.. And it was almost his birthday.. A present from his mother! :)

I also live in Ventura and periodically run into Colleen when she's out walking her dog. Such a nice lady. I'm glad she was able to get her wallet back. :)

I'm happy she can see her memories. And now she can remember what happened in the 1970's.

I'm way impressed that they replaced the missing check, including interest.

They returned it after 46 years... Here when one day when I dropped some money and the next day at a shop I am getting it as change.

Damn, good for her, some of us can’t even find one of our earbuds when it falls off And that’s resulted in me customizing it with ear guards on the outside and inside for only $5 and yes it’s comfortable

This is such a wonderful story. The pictures she thought she lost, they would have all come back. And how good that the theatre staff found her so quickly.

Wow, she literally had a whole time capsule full of memories in that wallet but what was even sweeter is how they replaced the check and even checked the inflation rate and gave her what it would be worth now and signed it "We love you." That's really sweet. My true crime side would love to know what happened to the check and how her wallet ended up in a crawl space though. It probably wasn't very hard to illegally cash a check in 1975 and unfortunately surveillance was nothing like it is today so she will probably never know who took it but at least she has a happy ending with a great story to tell and that Grateful Dead ticket is a pretty badass thing to have after all this time. All my tickets that I saved didn't withstand time and the ink faded. I love happy ending stories and there aren't enough in the news lately so it's great to see one.

This was so lovely! Mad how the purse was actually found at all! And then to be found by this man and this company to care so much as to not only go on a mish to find this (absolutely beautiful BTW!!) lady to return the purse AND then give the money that she lost from the stolen CQ form 1975?! This was just a beautiful story! It must have been so great for this lady to see all those photos again, ESP of her Mother.. her probably long lost friends and all the other things we stow-away in our purses that bring memories flooding back when we find them. Just beautiful!

Oh those concert prices brings back memories. I saw Elvis in Phoenix, AZ on Apr 22, 1973. The tickets were $6.50 So glad we have good people in this world to bring onions to our eyes. A theater that age is historic these days. I hope the renovation went well. Back home the old ones were all demolished over the years.
