Thanks for uploading this documentary with Professor Joanne Fletcher. I simply adore the way she delves into the past and humanises the context for us. Loved her previous video about Ancient Egypt’s Dark Age.

I'm always reminded just how speculative history truly is. Historians are basically storytellers who use the little knowledge we have and weave an intricate story from those scraps of time.

Recently back from Egypt, I’m always amazed by the different interpretations of the history. Abu simbal is amazing. Valley of the kings is amazing. No one knows 100% what the history is, it’s all assumed. So fascinating the human civilisation is. Gobekli tepe is where we should be concentrating, based on dating evidence.

I was a kid in the 5th grade (9 or 10 years old) who got to see the King Tut exhibit in L.A. on a school field trip in 1977. It sparked a lifelong interest in Ancient Egypt (but not history in general because none of my future classes in junior high, high school, or college taught it; they just made us remember boring facts to get a passing grade 😐. It's such a shame that public school kids don't get to go on those sorts of field trips anymore (I suppose it's budget cuts). One professor in college was the exception to my "history hate" though - because in his lectures he spoke as if he was just telling stories about historical figures like they were his friends. Humanizing history makes all the difference if you want your audience (or students) to be genuinely interested in learning about it. I HATED history when it was a FORCED subject in school; I LOVE it now (when I get to pick my own subjects - that are now VERY varied - and digest the content on my own terms).

19 After prophetism and dreams and visions, it was inevitable that I speak about spiritual gifts because prophets and prophetesses are the ones who have the monopoly of spiritual gifts. And I have decided that minor prophets should add an eagle to their profile. 20 Well. In any circumstance, give priority to prophecies. A doubtful prophecy can be ignored. But if a prophecy is confirmed, it must be applied. If it is not confirmed, you can decide to apply it or to seek its confirmation before applying it. Even if a prophecy is in conformity with the Bible, it needs to be confirmed by a prophet or another prophecy. A speaking in tongues interpreted by another person is a confirmed prophecy.

34 And here, with the public confession and the constant search for sanctification, we are already standing and disposed on the foundation of holiness. And it is for the baptism of the Holy Spirit in preparation for a revival which will not have a quick end. Brothers who used to eat three times a day now eat twice a day. And many of them, like Prophet Daniel, avoid fatty foods and hardly eat at all now in the evenings. I used to weigh up to 64 kg, but now I'm a long way under 60 kg. That's the way it must be.
