The AiPower Su2000i portable generator. BUT WHAT WILL IT RUN? Lots of videos about these, not too many with people ACTUALLY POWERING SOMETHING with it. Watch as I try it with a 1500w (13.04a) heat gun, a 7.2 amp (792w) residential refrigerator, and an 8.8A (1012w) 10k BTU window A/C. Aftwards, you will have a better idea what this little generator is good for.
Blue and red versions are the same, 79cc, Blue has a Yamaha engine, Red a Sensi engine.
58db quiet, on low idle. Lightweight, portable, runs 4-8 hours on a tank of gas.

I ran a fridge , a freezer , a tv and a fan with it during a power outage .After i learned more about them and learned how to take care and fix the carburetors i don't understand why people pay three times the price for a Honda
@SurrealAdventure

One of the best things you can do, is using a fuel storage stabilizer like STA-BIL. A lot of the gum and crap that sticks in the carburetor is a result of fuel that has been sitting for a long time.

What a perfect video. This Generator is a must have. I saw you can run a refrigerator to at least keep youe food and drinks cold and run the ac to keep cool. This vodeo really shows details.😎

I just bought one of these and it runs 1500W heater fine. It will run a HF pole saw and my Dewalt Angle Grinder. It will also run a skill saw. It will barely run my Dewalt Contractor saw.

Nice review! Check your breaker it should be HACR rated, meaning it has a short over amp delay, above its amp rating to accommodate LRA (lock rotor amperage)of electric motors.

Nice video. I'm impressed with how well these cheap generators work and what they can handle. I have a tiny 800 running watt Sportsman that will power my newer residential fridge/freezer and my basement sump pump, obviously not at the same time, but in a power outage I can let my fridge catch up for an hour then switch it back over to my sump pump.

If you live in California (like I do) then it's a great idea to have one of these. The power infrastructure here has been crippled by the morons running things. Rolling blackouts are becoming the norm. They even shut off the power during "High Fire Danger" now.

When shopping for appliance how can you tell if appliance has soft start capacitor?
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
You can sometimes see it in the specs in the manual, but usually it's not listed at all, unfortunately. Most window air conditioners have them, but some aren't very big. IF you plug in the appliance, and you don't see the lights dim/flicker when the compressor kicks on, chances are it has one. If you can open up the back of a refrigerator and look in the compressor area, it's a large round cylinder with wires coming out of it. Window air conditioners will usually have it somewhere near the controls, not necessarily outside. Many newer appliances like LG's high end "inverter" series of refrigerators and window air conditioners don't have it and don't need it. They have rotary compressors that spool up slowly and operate at high rpm continuously. Ex: www.amazon.com/Capacitor-Compatible-CSR-U2-Compressor-3-5-4/dp/B07MDJ67M7/ref=sr_1_8?crid=93L5ZRWPHSNC&dchild=1&keywords=air+conditioner+hard+start+kit&qid=1595476829&sprefix=air+conditioner+hard+start+%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-8

YMMV. :) Borrowed neighbors AIPower 2000 and ran only fridge 5.2A and router 1.5A or ~900 watts and then tripped on just one 10W light. LG fridge with linear compressor so "surge" should be nominal. Might pickup an amps meter since curious if discrepancy is the generator or an appliance. I got Honda EU2200I with 120cc engine vs 80cc Yamaha and same weight and quieter too. Don't want a loud one and want it for camping too.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 3 года назад
Bret B you have a 1.5A router? Are you talking about a data router or something for cutting wood? 1.5A is 180w 5.2A is 624w the startup on something is higher than it should be, or something is wrong with the inverter.
@bretb8799
@bretb8799 3 года назад
@@SurrealAdventure Ha good catch yeah seems high so checked again it's 1.5A 12V so 18 watts. Yes seems yours works better or my fridge is drawing more than I think or there's an issue with the lamp.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 3 года назад
Bret B if you have a heat gun plug that in and you can check 750w and 1500w. I suspect the lamp if the fridge runs fine without it. The lamp should make no difference.

Your 12ga. extension cord,while a good guage may be too long for the wattage.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 3 года назад
Yeah, you are right. I wouldn't want to run the A/C like that for long, but that refrigerator pulls ~750w full load, and I think that's only when it defrosts, the rest of the time it's not much.

It seems to be pretty loud in the video. Do you think this would be loud in a quiet residential neighborhood if the power goes out?
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
Michael Lee The mic on the camera makes it sound a lot louder than it is. It’s about as loud as e traffic going by in the background if you listen again. It should be fine it’s 52db, here is a chart so you can compare www.noisehelp.com/noise-level-chart.html

@@SurrealAdventure Seems a bit louder, but still relatively low; from their website (a-ipower.com/product/sc2000i-inverter-generator/#tab-additional_information) looks like: 58 dBA @ 50% Load - 21’ / 7m, 68 dBA - 75% Load @ 21’ / 7m.

Looks like I made a typo. Your correct, 58db@50% load, which still isn't very loud for a generator.

I must be doing something wrong I have the su2300i and it would drop power just trying to use keurig machine.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 3 года назад
Check what the wattage of the Keurig is, when they heat the water they use ~1500watts or more depending on the model. If your using it on a extension cord, consider, the cord needs to be a thick 12gauge or lower otherwise the Amperage draw may kick the breaker. Try plugging directly in and see if it’s still a problem.

May be a silly question but do you have to ground these

There is a connector if you want to ground it off on the front panel, but it operates without grounding.

I think the run time listed is when it will run out of gas, not how long you can use it. There is an oil change interval though.

What s the longest air or ice box ran
@SurrealAdventure

I didn’t run it until empty, but it was running at lowest speed the whole time on the refrigerator so it should get ~6-7 hours on a tank. A tank is ~1.1gallons. The A/C was full throttle, so I’m not sure, but probably half that.

@@SurrealAdventure I heard people say that using ethanol gas in small engines in general, especially in inverter generators, can gum up the carb causing it to become more difficult to start. They recommended using ethanol-free gas and I've seen multiple people recommend it for small engines, but I've never tried it
@bretb8799
@bretb8799 3 года назад
@choffman agree ethanol gum in carb is common issue. I may get some ethanol free "rec" fuel since my generator will usually sit for emergency www.pure-gas.org. Honda Eu2200i now has fuel shutoff allows burning off remaining fuel in the carb which is nice.

Do u onow if this can hold up a 6 gallon compressor and a vacume
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
I doubt it will work with any compressor, compressors, unlike refrigerators pull a lot of power when they start, even the small ones. A good rule of thumb is a compressor will pull 3x it's running amperage when it starts. You can use the formula (Volts)*(Watts)=(Amps) to figure it out. The generator is 2000 starting watts.

Dude. A consumer wants to know what it can run and how long. I bought a predator 9000 they are garbage. It said it would run 413 hours on half load. I ran a TV modem and pedestal light. And it would only run for about 3 hours before I had to refill it and it takes 6 gallons of gas. After one day it broke down. These reviews have been garbage. A consumer doesn't care about what's in the box. We want to know if this thing can run lights internet and TV and how many hours.

It’s incumbent on you to do the most basic research. Do some due diligence. Most of the answers you seek are available on the manufacturers website, in the manual, and in almost every ad I’ve seen for these. I made this because I couldn’t find answers to the questions I answered in the video, which are important to know.
