If you are looking to save a little bit of money, A-iPower sells an exact copy on Amazon that is not branded as Yamaha but appears the same. Check it out here: amzn.to/39J4cfs
Unboxing of a new A-iPower powered by Yamaha inverter generator.

Well designed and comes with some freebies. This Yamaha powered generator can be run in parallel if you need more power for something like an A/C unit. Otherwise, just one generator should be great for backup power or for an RV. Personally, we are going to use this with our 5th wheel when boondocking. The generator is a bit loud when warming up but after 5 minutes you can turn on the ECO switch and that really kicks down the motor until a load is put on. A fuel gauge is also included to check gas level while running. Speaking of which it has a 1-gallon tank and should run for 7 hours at 50% load.
In-depth Review with load tests coming soon!
-2000 Watt starting with 1600 Watt running, this little generator from Costco can be found for $399 on sale or online.
-A 79cc Yamaha motor powers this inverter generator from A-iPower.
-DC adapter plug included to charge your phone with USB adapter.
-120 Volt output with
-1600 Watts running
-Runtime at 50% load is 7 hours.
-Pull start (took one pull)
-Eco Switch
-46 lbs (20.9 kg)
-52 Decibel
-Parallel capable, get two and double your Watts
****MUST HAVE UPGRADES!!!****
Hour Meter --- Keep track of your oil changes and service intervals. I opted for the style that wraps around the spark plug. Blue gets style points to match the generator.
+++ Get Hour Meter Here: amzn.to/3kcxVmE +++
Magnetic Drain Plug --- Capture any metal shavings and increase your Yamahas life. Highly suggest using for the break-in period!
+++ Get Drain Plug Here: amzn.to/2GPim5Q +++
UPDATE!! I just found an amazing addition that will make oil changes a breeze. This little funnel screws in place of the drain plug and will prevent oil spilling everywhere.
+++ Oil Change Funnel: amzn.to/3bSdRTI +++
Filmed and edited on my iPhone so don't hate me if the cuts aren't great!

Okay let me help you. Feel free to tilt the generator after you premeasure the oil. Oil the filter element. Change the oil every 40 hours and use 15w40 if it's really hot out. Put an hour meter on it. Use clean fuel add use fuel stabilizer if it will sit. I have almost 2000 trouble free hours on mine. Heavy duty desert hours.

You're awesome! I'll have to use that tilting magic on the next oil change! I also installed an hour meter along with a magnetic dipstick. I've been using ethanol-free gas as well. Happy to hear that it's been reliable! Quick question on the air filter oil, anything specific? Thank you for the tips!
@TheBandit7613
@TheBandit7613 4 года назад
@@Svaren Any oil you have lying around. Make sure to squeeze out the excess. Just a lightly oiled filter. Ethanol free is definitely best. I change oil at 50 to 75 hours. When it's really hot (near 100*) I use 15w40. You should get good service from this little Genny! I forgot to say, good review!

Picked one up at Costco today, too. $399 is a helluva deal!! I like the fuel gauge. Seems to work great so far, and is really quiet. I didn't like only one 120 volt household outlet, but I have a "W" adapter, that adds 3 more outlets. They are available from Northern tool, and lots of other places.
@Svaren
@Svaren 5 лет назад
Peter Mashak They are nice and quite! I'm planning to add an hour meter and magnetic drain plug. The ’W’ adapter may be a nice to carry with it. We'll usually use this with our 5th wheel but having an option to plug directly into the generator would be a good back up!

Damn 399. Was awesome. Mine at Costco were 449.00 but guess what. We both got ripped off. They ARE NOT Yamaha and now I hear you are saying the same thing I came to say. Yamaha engines but they are a-ipower. But they are still really really nice. They run really nice.

Using this right now in San Diego area with their brilliant random unsubstantiated power outages. Thank God for SDGE! We are currently running my beefy PC (MSI Gigabyte Z390), I7-9700K, Hyper 212 EVO black RGB, 4X8GB, RTX 2070 (8GBOC), Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB RAM, 2XSSD (120GB/1TB), 7 RGB LED case fans, Seasonic 80+ Bronze 620 Watt PSU, 40" 60Hz Hisense LED TV, 1 yr old Whirlpool side by side referidge and freezer (been running since connection-over 3 hours), charging my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, older model (5 yrs or so) Internet Router/modem. Nothing flickering or waving in and out of any kind of brightness or anything and everything is running like normal.

@@Svaren Sick of the gov over reach of the state and other entities. Just getting gas into the machine is a tremendous pain as a direct result of government intervention. As a result I created a significantly larger eco mess than I would have otherwise. Idiocy!

When you removed the air filter, did you notice if it was oily or dry? The label on the side cover says to oil it after cleaning. I’m just curious if that’s why they give you extra oil.
@Svaren

Good Question! It was not dry! Though I think I could have added more oil if I just tilted the genny on its side.

I've been told that any outdoor household extension cord can be used from the generator to the house. Is this true?
@Svaren
@Svaren 4 года назад
That is correct! You could easily run an extension cord from it into the house and then have a powerstrip diverting power to multiple appliances. Just note that while it says 2000 watts in big letters, it is actually only 1600 running watts. If you overload it, it will just trip the circuit and you'll have to restart the genny.
@petertaylor792
@petertaylor792 4 года назад
1600 (load)/2000 watt @ 120v is 16.6 amps. Copper wire for 16amps would require 12 awg. Most outdoor type power cords sold are 12 awg. Cords will have a 12/3 type label with three prong type ( NEMA) connectors. You can also use 10 awg type with the limiting factor on the generator being the circuit protection.

Ours is leaking gas, like a lot. It's 2nd use. We followed instructions 100%. What can it be!? Maybe leaving the gas in the first time we used it, corroded something? We didn't know how to remove all the gas to store it empty... hope you can help, thank you!
@Svaren
@Svaren 3 года назад
Yikes! I would take that one back to Costco ASAP and get an exchange! May just be a line got disconnected or a crack in the tank. Either way, Costco should be more than happy to provide you a new one! Leaving gas in the tank should cause no issue for leaks! In the future, you can just keep the generator running until it runs out of fuel. The only thing I would say is take the side cover off and check the hose connections.
@AngelHdzMultimedia
@AngelHdzMultimedia 3 года назад
@@Svaren thank you! We took it to a guy a relative referred to, and it turned out that leaving the gas in the carburetor for too long, corroded many parts. So the guy replaced those parts and it's new again. We used it for many hours, and then drained the carburetor. We couldn't figure out how to drain the carburetor the first time, because the screw is hidden. The only flaw we saw in this generator was that, not visible enough carburetor screw. Everything else is awesome, it's silent, lightweight, powerful, compact. Stay safe!

The adapter that it comes with will just go to a normal 30amp RV plug. However, you do have the single 120v that you could plug a power strip into no problem.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. Mines still kickin with over 80 hours and many months later. I do have to choke it with just about every start for a half a second but then it purs along with everything I throw at it. Maybe your Costco got a bad batch of them? As you can see in the comments, many others have had great experiences with them. Along with the reviews on Costcos website. I'm sure the Honda will last you a lifetime and then some.

A bad batch of generators? I doubt it.
@Svaren
@Svaren 4 года назад
@@danalogue I should have been more specific. I meant a bad batch of circuit boards or some other electrical component that goes into these generators. Obviously, I can't speak for the company but I find it very odd that you've had 4 faulty generators while I've had many comments on this and other videos about this generator from different people that have had nothing but good things to say. I think you are the second or third person to say they have had to return them. Now at the price point, these generators are running, I can see how the quality control could be lacking compared to a full name branded Yamaha or Honda. (Because this only has a Yamaha engine, everything else is Ai-Power) Hope your Honda treats you well!
