We are Marisa and David, Australian expats now living part-time in Chianni Tuscany.
During the Global Pandemic, we decided to buy our Italian dream home, sight unseen and with no prior knowledge of the area.

BUONGIORNO A TUTTI! Thank you for joining us for this little January catch up! Sydney seems slow in comparison to Chianni, with most work here being done on a laptop! So much to organise for the future projects and months ahead, from afar! Absolutely love your ideas for the cottage. I must tell you your bathroom vision is almost exactly the same as mine. I can't believe how similar our tastes are in interior design. Ciao Marisa and David.. many thanks for your latest catch up post. The Tiny Tower/ cottage will be a great project and I’m so looking forward to following its progress. I checked your Pinterest page - thanks - and loved the photo of the stone cottage with open barn doors on the ground floor and the Juliet balcony above. It’s perfect! Once the garden is landscaped, be a fabulous dining area. Unlike you, who bought your house in Chianni unseen, I’ve been travelling around Italy. literally, checking online and following Italian blogs searching for a place to retire to. I’m going round in circles because everywhere is beautiful and there are so many properties! When I saw your cottage and I realised I just need to pluck up the courage, go to Italy and buy something similar. The problems will get solved and the final result will be so rewarding and tap into my creative side. Thank you so must for the inspiration!! 💚❤️A presto

Fabulous video, thanks for sharing! We feel the same excitement about our modest project and want to get it right! Between the renovation of the disused buildings and renovation of the cantina, I hope you can include something created by your cousin in Rome - imagine relaxing with a fine wine and crackling fire casting shadows over his painted wall or ceiling; mellowed by David playing some gentle tunes on his Fender. I love your episodes!! If I was not taking care of my father, I wouldn’t not have found your channel, so no matter what happens in the future I feel that you are part of my life somehow, it may sound strange, but when you reflected on your father, I could feel with you what’s going on. Anyhow, I love your ideas for that new house on that piece of land !! I can’t wait to see how you guys design it and also the little room under your house that’s gonna be so exciting I’m gonna be following you through all of that. Downsizing and getting rid of everything is such a big job and it can be very emotional also. We are currently working on emptying our house so we can sell it in July and I have just so much stuff. There are boxes in the basement that haven't been opened since we moved here 12 years ago. I actually found my tax returns back to 1978! LOL It was easy to toss those but I also have a lot of photo albums and sentimental items that are harder to sort through. I'll get there eventually though 😊. As always, thank you for another lovely video.

Thank you so much for joining us this morning Cheri. 🥰 It can be an emotional trip but I’m not attached to things as such and love downsizing as it makes me concentrate on what’s truly important to me. I’ve lived in small home and huge homes and I’m just as happy in either. I give away or sell what I don’t need each time. It’s fun starting fresh but I love change, so I’m comfortable and David is very much like me. Thank goodness! 😅 You will get there… it’s very cathartic! 🥰♥️🤗🦋🌳🩵

@@talesfromtuscany I've always loved moving to somewhere new and decorating a new place. I've moved quite a few times over the years since I was 18, but never such a long distance away. It was easy to bring furniture etc. I've actually been downsizing for several years and the more we get rid of, the happier I am. But I've never tackled the basement in earnest until now. Mostly the things I cherish are baby stuff of Alex's, old family stuff, photo albums, some books. I love being able to give things away to people I know. I agree that the size of the home you live in really makes no difference.

Actually, if it was just Tim and I, I would love to be a total nomad, at least for a few years. Carry everything we need in backpacks and travel the world, staying somewhere for a few months, then moving on.

Good philosophy Cheri 😍and yes, I totally understand that sentimental things are harder to free ourselves of. I'm just loving the simplicity of village life and having less "stuff" around me. Less to keep clean as well 😅Now that's a big bonus! @@cherin6703
