What makes Franklin BBQ and its famous line so unique? Aaron Franklin dishes to Taylor about his first time cooking brisket and the development of Austin's famous BBQ Restaurant.
Seems like a really cool dude. The couple times I've been to his restaurant he's always super nice, greets ppl, always willing to take photos with people, & never comes off snobby or arrogant. Keep up the good work Mr. Franklin!
This is a guy that loves what he is doing and is having fun doing it. There is no better way to live. He remains down to earth, friendly, humble, respectful and honest. Way to go Aaron. The lady interviewing appears to be very nice too. Franklin's Barbeque is where people have fun waiting for great food.
Aaron Franklin is a true American success story. People can criticize, but there are very few BBQ joints with lines around the block Day after Day. He's doing something right.
I'm not saying he's not doing something right, I'm not saying that his food isn't good, but there is definitely a large contingent of people who will stand in line at a place simply because its popular and that there's a line.
The best thing about Aaron and his ability to cook great bbq is that you can tell he doesn't have to try at all! He's just got what it takes and he knows it.
Wow, those questions at the end🙈🙈 That aside, Franklin's is one of the few places actually worth the wait in line, but I reccomend a coordinated effort with friends (Think shifts..lol) cuz it doesnt exactly go fast even after the restaurant opens. Having said that, Franklins is far from the only BBQ worth trying in Texas, there are tons of places with their own spin on BBQ all over the state. If Franklins line is a bit too much, just hop in a car to Lockhart Texas (not far from Austin) and try Smitty's. There's also Kreuz Market and Black's in Lockhart, but Smitty's is my personal fave...ymmv. Don't bother with Cooper's in Llano, Texas..may just be me, but my last two times there werent great, and it used to be one of the best.
Worked with his Mom some years ago and met him before he became famous for BBQ. Great guy and just had this personality that made you want to hangout with him for no reason.
I love BBQ,if I went there I swear I'm just wondering if they have enough food for me,I can eat,Lol I love this guy and what he has done.good job Aaron.
I asked this guy why was Franklin so successful said because there was no other barbecue place around for a while it's like being the only gas station for miles.
It's ridiculous though that one can't even have a political viewpoint or stance without being criticized and judged wholly on that by others out there. I'd say don't change anything to appease anyone. If you're asked, IF you're asked, answer and don't be ashamed or scared of the criticism. To hell with it. You can't change who you are. If people can't have their own political views without being criticized and being judged right then and there, then that's flat out stupid. And I know there will always be criticism and that will never end; but that's all the more reason to not hide what your views are. Because everyone else unapologetically believes what they want and are more than willing to totally disregard someone else if their beliefs aren't agreeable to their own.. so there's no reason to desire to be loved by anyone at all period. Who cares. In this day and age it takes not giving a fk to be who you really are; and that's where the most satisfaction and happiness lies. People should be judged based upon their deeds, their actions and who they are as individuals.
And they are going up. I can guarantee by the end of 2021 into 2022 a lot of these restaurants will be doing less and less business because most middle class people will not be able to afford the inflation that is coming.
Notice he left out the whole part where he worked at Louie Mueller who showed him everything. Otherwise he would still b e making bad BBQ in his backyard.
I LOL'd at 2:16 when he said, "I hadn't really come up with that yet" talking about wrapping briskets with butcher paper. Does he seriously think he's the one that came up with that?
Everyone is dogging him calling him a liberal. He agreed to do the interview and may not have known the questions he was going to be asked. Just because he answered the questions does not make him liberal. The liberal is the one asking the questions.
I remember my first brisket, was probably 5 lbs. I thought it turned out pretty good, realized did my dog too when she was sliding it across my kitchen floor 😑😑😑
Why wasn’t hanging out with Doug Stanhope an option? Q: “Would you rather hang out with the hosts from The View or get shot execution style?” A: “Get shot, definitely”
Seems like a cool dude but fuck if the restaurant doesn't need expansion. I'd kind of like to try the stuff at some point in this lifetime, rather than wait three hours to hear that y'all sold out LOL
I would wait in line for Adelle if someone gave me tickets, but I ended up in the middle of a Beyonce concert by accident once and it took me 2 hours of pushing through people to get out! (it was a free short notice concert in Toronto's Yonge/Dundas Square that I happened to be in the middle of when things got going, by the time I knew who was there I was trapped in the crowd lol)
I would never wait more than an hour in line for any food unless there was a depression & it was a soup line. Aaron is a nice feller , but i won't wait 2,3,4 or more hours for bbq & if i did & got to the front & they were sold out , i would go ballistic , but it'll never happen to wait that long. Terry Blacks bbq is just as good as well as a few others , salt lick bbq etc...& only 25 minutes away
He has a good niche. In Austin. Mostly people that don't bbq. Or cook themselves. It's a college town with high tech industry. It's the food truck capital of the world. A lot of good eats. But waiting 4 hours for his food? Not worth it. What are these people thinking? I can go over to his mentors and get the same thing in ten minutes. Lol
You took the words right out of my mouth, HORRIBLE questions! ...and even worse choices. It's like every multiple choice answer is a liberal wet dream...
Adele and Beyoncé incomparable !!!!! Beyoncé sounds like someone chocking a cat 🤦🏻♀️ !!!!!! Adele is omg amazing and super effortless !!!! Beyoncé afraid of Adele lol
