@@glorymanheretosleep Actually it is even more than "not being allowd to". Infecting someone with an STD by knowingly having unsafe sex without telling the sexpartner about the infection is a crime no matter if you are a prostitute or it happens in private. It can be charged by with anything between a fine to 10 years of jailtime.
@Stephen Willis Stotch So? Just because he went through a hard time in his life doesn’t mean that he can’t give criticism or talk about ways to improve society. By your logic, we would exclude most of the civil rights leaders, most of the church (due to drinking wine), and a decent bit of politicians and actors. It’s quite a regressive attitude you have, you really should give people a fair chance.
@Stephen Willis Stotch I never said take random advice from heroin addicts off the street. I’m saying trust people that have some amount of wisdom or useful knowledge despite their checkered pasts, much like how people with good qualities can be bad people the opposite applies. Carlin may have had a substance abuse problem, but he had an incredibly interesting and useful outlook on life, and provided some critical advice of people and society. I love how you glossed over my most important point about how everyone has baggage or weak points. Civil rights leaders, church members, politicians, actors, and everyday people all have their points to be criticized (there is no such thing as a messiah!), but everyone has some kind of unique experience or perspective that can help you better yourself as a whole. It’s very clear you have some kind of hate in heart for addicts, but people can better themselves or change from who they once were (and can even provide you with some wisdom about the whole experience). You should not discount them or marginalize them simply because you did not understand the tough time they went through in life, and should always keep an open mind.
Nothing would happen. I'm from germany, it is legal over here. The only difference is that prostitutes enjoy protection under the law so pimps aren't really a thing.
Nothing happens that you’ve noticed because the perks are in plain sight. Many a German man who comes to the US complain about how the women don’t approach men, as there is a much more even keel between men and women when it comes to dating, hookups, relationships. You don’t notice because it’s normal. But where it’s illegal, women prize their vaginas as diamonds, but like diamonds, it’s value is totally artificial.
@@GOODNOIGHT hmm whats worse? A terrorist who could potentially come over and blow himself up inside a mall, a crazy dictator with nuclear weapons at his disposal, or an innocent, defenceless little baby nestled inside the mothers womb. Hard decision indeed.
Also there would provably be a lot less mass shootings, but probably more strangled hookers. There are places on earth where it's basically legal. Compare and contrast. Imagine of you will a country that wasn't the USA... mind blowing I know but other countries do exist. Also if you are getting shit off women simply move to a better country where they don't almost all have an attitude problem. @@philiposborne982 that correlation makes no sense, there is a very clear difference between causation and correlation ,there would still be shootings as 80% of school shooters and under the age of 18 and the legal age to get a hooker would have to be 18 ,not to mention mass shooters wouldn't lose all there anger because they fucked some hooker with stds. Not to mention that the countries where prostitution is legal tend to have extremely tight guns,Belgium,Australia,New Zealand,E.t.c.Getting a gun in those countries is extremely difficult if you dont have the right connections or qualification which most mass shooters dont have. Nothing happens, I’m Aussie and it’s been legal in Australia for decades. The sky didn’t fall in, nothing happens except it’s regulated for safety and public heath. Yes American friends regulation does help things, even some banking regulation prevents unsafe loans and financial crises
It is legal in Nevada, a state in America. It has been legal for over 80 years. Sky is still over Nevada last time I checked. This is one of the hundreds of things we have been made to believe is somehow on the verge of bringing our nation down that is just a bunch of nonsense. Can we just end the drug war and get universal health care while we are at? We have been convinced to be afraid of so many common sense things that other countries have done successfully for years.
@David of Yorkshire Plus prohibition always introduces bloodshed and violence. Guys like Al Capone killed people over alcohol. I don't remember the last time a hit was put out on the head of Coors.
@David of Yorkshire in about a decade Americans are going to look back and realize how foolish the ban on Marijuana was. I agree that regulation is a better solution than prohibition.
@JBryan314 You do realize that the joke you pay for called "healthcare insurance" is the money that would be used to actually ensure you had care. The entire industrialized world gets "free" health care. They have better health outcomes than us. They pay about anywhere from 25% - 50% less than us. If this pandemic doesn't put in bold underline how much more broken our system is than everywhere else I seriously don't know what will. We are literally one of the worse on the planet at this. What we have is a few get great care while the rest know they have to stay away from the Dr. if they don't want to go bankrupt, because for millions stepping foot in your ER means they have just lost everything they have ever worked for. As usual, someone fed you a line of BS so they could make a buck off of you and you swallowed it. I don't blame you. If something would actually benefit ordinary people there is a line of crooks that stretches as far as the eye can see trying to convince you against it.
Gearzmesh by “legal in Nevada” you mean there is exactly one Brothel in the whole state, “The Bunny Ranch,” where you’re looking to score for the cost of “four low figures.” ($3,000-$4,000) Just go to Europe or Brazil.
That’s why I thought weed should be legal immediately. There’s an industry and a product that do not deserve the bullshit that has happened in its name.
J B I would even go as far as more “hardcore” drugs like meth, cocaine & heroine. As soon as it’s legal it can be taxed, regulated and demand will drop off, and putting people with an addiction problem in prison isn’t really a great plan in the long run. Studies have shown that prison does absolutely nothing to stop them from going right back to drugs once they get out so clearly it isn’t fixing anything.
True or Sacramento for that matter. Once they legalized weed, they have been making serious money on taxes, permits, licenses etc and they recently will add more taxes on weed. So much for "progressivism"
@clayfame The problem is women only want to date really good looking men, and can filter them out and fuck them on Tinder. This leaves a surplus of lonely average men. Has little to do with the problems you mentioned. Trust me, the poor good looking guy is getting plenty of action.
@Imight Realperson most inaccurate statement of 2019 right here. You couldn't be more wrong, if you've ever been rejected, you should know if you were better looking it wouldn't have happened. How do you look at online dating dynamics and arrive at that conclusion? Can't tell if you're trolling or actually lack that much self-awareness.
@Imight Realperson money and status give rise to exceptions. If you're a normal person, chances are you aren't dating s girl much hotter than you. And anecdotal evidence like "I've seen X" doesn't mean anything. Look up the halo effect, dating studies on attraction vs personality, and Chadfishing for the complete picture.
Prostitution is legal in NZ. I live in the states now but I agree, US is miles behind the rest of the world. This is the oldest profession on earth...surely they should be unionized and protected within the arms of the law. This is the land of the free...
Sex work has been legal here in Australia since the 80's. It's regulated for safety and hygiene, taxed, and yes, they do have a union! I have never used their services but I have met more than my fair share when I was a taxi driver. The vast majority are just normal people with an unusual and well paid job. Their goal is usually a simple one - make as much money as they can while they're in their 20's and live mortgage free for the rest of their life.
It's legal in most of Europe, actually the criminality of prostitution is only common in Africa or Islamic Asia. Prostitution is legal and regulated in Turkey!
@@leocavalcante6203 so it's illegal in Africa, the Islamic world... And America? That'd be right. Always crapping on about freedoms, but you can't even charge money for own sex in America.
@@grubbybum3614 They can't pay them for sex but they can legally make pornos and pay them... Im not a yank so I maybe wrong but that's what I heard awhile ago.
Currently in the US, if a sex worker gets beaten up or robbed by a customer, she has no legal recourse. Keeping it illegal when it exists in pretty much every city in the world, is an assault on women's rights.
America has laws against robbery and assault, try again. What she can’t do is demand the pay for selling something illegally, nothing wrong here. Most meth dealers don’t go to court when they get robbed.
@@max7971 meth is illegal to give for free and is a substance that has a negative impact due to its health impacts and addiction, sex isn’t. Unless your stance is against hookup culture or one night stands. The problem is if they did the exact same thing but were never handed cash it’s perfectly legal which shows there no inherent harm in the act and it’s an outdated law that only allows for criminals to take advantage of a demand with no legal supply

@Just Jeff You pay for quality and service. However, I have been through a divorce...talk about being ripped off! You think $100 for a BJ is a rip off, just see what a sexless marriage to a shrew will cost you.
Just Jeff I don’t get how people talk about sex like it’s some kind of stress-reliever, like working out, isn’t the point of sex to create life? & by creating that life you further your species, why would you want to have sex for any other reason, we’ll I can kinda understand it I think... I just don’t think I like the reasoning.
Sex work/prostitution is the oldest business model in the world. It should be legal everywhere. Less sexual crimes, less human trafficking and less uncontrolled potentially dangerous illegal prostitution. Anybody who's against a legalization obviously hasn't even thought for a second about the pros which easily outweigh the cons.
@@gustavgans1807 Guess what is even older than fishing. Hunting. I wasn't talking about the oldest activity. I was talking about the oldest business model. The organised and systematic offering of the female body in form of sex work for whatever exchange (money, goods, services) has to be the oldest one in the world.
"why is it illegal to pay for it?" because of the same reason weed isn't entirely legal, Joe. It isn't taxable for every case by the government. They want their cut of every. single. sale/transaction.
I went to Amsterdam in 2006. My friends I was with needed to check their emails for work (remember, this is before international mobile phone service). The only internet cafes we could find were in the Red Light district. I saw a couple of sex workers standing outside their establishment smoking, and you wouldn't be able to pay me enough $ to 'do it' with them, they were that fat & ugly.
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 I wonder if the attractive women only sometimes whore themselves out when some guy offers a lot of money/when they need extra cash as opposed to being a professional full timer.
It’s legal here in New Zealand. Makes it safer for the escorts giving them legislation to support them and keep them safe and a legitimate option for people who want to pay for it. Win win really
New Zealand may be a special case, since there aren't a lot of ways to smuggle people across the border. In the european countries where prostitution is legal there are a lot of women who do it for the easy money, but there is also the constant problem of human trafficking and forced prostitution.
@Dawud Dockery are you serious? Street prostitutes tend to be poor high end prostitutes tend to be rich. Some of the chicks are charging more for one hour then some people earn in one weekly paycheck.
@Dawud Dockery did you forget you claim all escorts are broke? Or that only broke lonely men see escorts? None of that is true. Thats my point. You're spreading arrogant egotistical lies because you're uneducated yet feel the need to seem superior.
@@danzoil Ehh, he's only partially wrong. @Raw Key Don't try to claim me on your "side". You misogynistic incels are far worse than any amount of historical illiteracy on behalf of people like danzoil.
its been legal in NZ for a long time , i remember when it was illegal and there is very little difference except the ladies can now get the protection they deserve from the police without the fear of arrest , i think its a good thing that its legal , if 2 adults want to enter into a business transaction that hurts no one then why should the govt stop that ?
Got legalised in Australia some years ago. They have to work in registered brothels, get regular medicals and declare a taxable income. It cleaned up the street trade and is now a lot safer for all concerned.
It's legal in New Zealand, girls and customers are much better protected from abuse and health issues, no stupid arrests for people providing or using a service. Legalised brothels make for a safer and cleaner workspace.
I live 3 hours away from legal brothels. I love it, but it is not an every week type of thing. I have found places with good rates, but it is still not cheap, so I save for brothel trips every couple months. As a result, I feel like it is much easier for me to walk away from dud women and have minimal heartache about it. Prostitutes are usually pretty friendly and nice if you treat them well, so it is definately a confidence boost.
And ppl don't realize that most of the men who look for these srvcs are normal guys just like you, not the ridiculous sensationalized weirdos folks see on TV. Reminds me of reefer madness, it'll end the same way.
exactly, I dont see any prostitutes charging under 200 bucks if it becomes legalized. From what i hear the legal brothels in Nevada charge up to 700 bucks
@@boston312 Yeah, the ones around Reno & Vegas are kind of negotiable, so they might try to charge you ~$1000, no one is really worth that imo. The northern ones in Elko area have a flat rate, idk if you can negotiate it, but last time I went it was reasonable so I just paid it.

Christian Carrera I don’t know what you mean by that, but I’m hoping you don’t mean that it’s ok for people to do it all the time, I think we take sex for granted just like we do everything else we have so easy in western/European civilizations
Yea. How about no? I like the idea that a majority of the women out there in the dating pool were not paid whores. The guys who want prostitution to be legal so badly must be creeps or useless, fat douche bags incapable of getting a woman unless they pay for it.
It's legal in my country and keeps a lot of perverted people off the streets, also less rapes by people who can't get laid. I'm glad it's legal and I respect sex workers a lot. The oldest business there is.
I have a friend who became a Chippendale dancer for 6 years. It put him through college, paid for his apartment, and into a decent car. Once he graduated, he quit the dancing. We still hang out together now. I never cared a single bit about what he did, it made excellent financial sense.
If you look at Germany you xan see that that is not true. It is still stigmatized and there are still massive ammounts of sexual trafficing. In fact there is more of it because the Johns do not need to fear persecution. In fact the best thing for Women would be legalizing the offering of sex work and persecuting buying it. That gives the whores the ability to go to the police if they are abused/victims of human trafficing. That is how they do it in sweden.
@@rtwfreak2012 in NZ they legised it, and crime from it down, tmas did trafficking, because they can just call the cops in them, and you don't see hardly any street hookers anymore, as most just do it out there homes any more, and from what I have read the prices went down to, as long there's money there will always be sex workers
@@rtwfreak2012 Sweden is also the rape capital of Europe, and has a hand grenade epidemic. Probably not the he best example of a successful nation tbh.
@Brian Abisdid exactly. Which is why you look at Australia - with the best border control in the Western world - and sex trafficking is low... The only cases of it come from Korean/Chinese students who are coerced to work, but even those threats are made by foreign gangs
There would be an economic boom. National Debt would dissipate due to a new tax revenue. Relationships that do happen might actually become real and genuine.
Many questions that begin with "I wonder it would be like if..." can be answered by looking at what happens in other countries. Prostitution is not legal everywhere. just take a look at what happens where it is legal and you can get a sense of what that might be like
There was a thing about prostitution in Rhode Island where there was a loophole in legality where it was essentially an option if it was indoor prostitution and not corner prostitution and the amount of rapes in the area went down significantly, as well as the amount of sexually transmitted diseases. I believe stalking went down as well
It's legal in most states in Australia and I can say that it doesn't make a huge difference in the attitudes of people. It's looked down upon, so you're unlikely to find anyone who admits to seeing one, but I think it's probably safer for the women, because they're protected by the law.
This needs to be changed to "What Would Happen if Sex Work Became Legal in the USA" as many other countries have already done so. It stops the police wasting time on a service that has been going on forever. You will be disappointed as society changes little when it happens. There is no McDonalds selling sex at the drive thru.
The supply would go up and the demand would be met, so the cost of sex would be cheaper than it is. Even prostitutes don't want prostitution to be legal.
Exactly, except that prostitutes would want it since it gets rid of the money stealing pimps! They steal more than the worker would lose in pricing as a result of legalization.
loool, yeah that's very true. But in reality no one here is seriously considering it. If ppl wanted it, it would have happened already. Seeing as it is the world's oldest occupation and all.... I guess there must be something wrong with selling yourself or others for money?....naaaahhh, that can't be it. ....... ppl are super stupid.
Na. . . A sugar baby actually dates or lives with a sugar dady. He was talking about an independent prostitute who has a sex for money deal with several friends, but no typical relationship, thus maintaining her sexual autonomy.
@@mikezeitgeist2 not necessarily true. A sugar baby can have more than one Sugar Daddy at a time. A lot of these young ladies are kept. They're a lot of times the mistress. A lot have their own place and their own fancy cars too. In addition to an allowance to basically be at his beck and call. It's normally not a live in situation.
He didn't even tough on the weirdest thing about prostitution being illegal, you can pay a woman to have sex in a porno. Somehow, taping it makes it perfectly fine.
Sex is legal in Amsterdam. Women or men can rent windows like a shop window to advertise themselves in. To get and keep a window one has to be tested for transmittable infections every week . Now safe for both parties.
My main argument for the legalization of prostitution is that safety of the "providers" ... and sometimes the "admirers." Every few years I hear about some 20-something college girl that is found brutally murdered. It turns out that she went and met some guy who wasn't even close to being in her league at 3:00 am and he turned out to be the killer. It's pretty obvious what was going on. In a legalized scenario, the guy would have been screened.
Has been legal in Melbourne ,Australia for over twenty years. It took most of the girls off the street and into brothels where it is safer for the workers. They take medical checks every month and condoms used. There are still the associated drug problems but on the whole it is a better environment. And to a certain extent the industry has been de-stigmatised.
It is legal in NZ and a good thing too. The working ladies get health care and support, good for them good for the clients. I remember when a tourist thought he could rough up a girl because she'll have no legal rights and he can do what he likes. Big surprise when he found out he was on the wrong side of the law!
Just Jeff ummm definitely not, you’ll get less mentally ill virgins shooting up schools. Not exactly Rocket science in terms or complexity, but I think you’ll get it in a few days of reading the statement over and over again
No it's not completely decriminalized, it's not illegal to sell but it is to buy, that way they can protect the sex workers if their in an abusive arrangement(pimp) without them being afraid of going to jail. However they will still do sting operations to try and fuck over "John's" for simply wanting to get their rocks off.
There would be a TON more distrust in relationships though. The fact that you basically have to outsource your sexual pleasure to someone else for money is a breeding ground for distrust and objectification.
