I saw the oldest woman alive at one time, an Italian, she was 117 years old. She said: she retired from the factory at age 65 and moved out to the country but she was poor, but the farmer she rented from with let her have all the eggs she could eat and she said that's the only thing she ate. So from age 65 to 117 she lived exclusively on eggs.
My grandmother grew up eating eggs from seagulls. It was a free source of protein where she grew up on a remote island. She continued eating them the rest of her life. She lived to a 104 yo.

My wife’s family is from Ecuador. To this day the majority of their food comes from their backyards. Their primary source of protein is organic eggs from the chickens they raise. They typically eat 4 whole eggs per day. The majority of her family members live to 100+ years. Good video
Eggs from your own chickens are so much better than store bought especially if you take care of the chickens well and feed them corn meal. Brown taste better than white imo.
Sure they do. Meanwhile in reality we see a clear increase in all cause mortality from heart disease and cancer from those that eat a lot of eggs and other animal proteins.

The increased mortality associated with egg consumption was largely influenced by cholesterol intake. Our findings suggest limiting cholesterol intake and replacing whole eggs with egg whites/substitutes or other alternative protein sources for facilitating cardiovascular health and long-term survival."
I have watched so many videos from you, because of hair loss. I did not want to go down the path of having to use Minoxidil. I had a very stressful job, and on retirement had an operation on my foot. Anyway started researching what to do naturally for hair growth and health. I Went back to doing yoga once my foot healed added in meditation (particularly Yoga Nidra telling my body it is returning to good health and vitality) purchased a good multivitamin, started taking probiotics. Added castor oil and rosemary oil in my shampoo and as hair masks. I went to Europe for a holiday, where I stayed I had two eggs a day for breakfast, ate two meals a day, with tea usually at 4.30 so did intermitted fasting, and plenty of walking including the stairs at tourist destinations and we were three flights up at the hotel. When I came home my hairdresser said what have you done to your hair, it is so healthy and I can see all these new baby strands. I am now going to keep this up and incorporate the omegas. I could write so much so more. I just wanted to say a big thank you.. I feel fantastic.
I have ulcerative colitis. If I eat a whole steak for dinner or too much meat I start to get stomach pain that lasts for a day or 2. But not when I eat eggs. I've tested this and I can eat eggs everyday and they never bother my stomach. I just thought I would share my story for anyone who has similar problems.
Dr. Berg, we have twenty chickens at our farm in upstate NY. I'm 57 years old, eat on an OMAD program, with about two 48-hour fasts per month, and eat at least 15 eggs a week. Today, I can say, I'm in the best shape of my life because of your amazing lectures. Thank you so much. I have gotten my brother turned on to your channel, and he's lost 35 lbs. in the past four months. You are a life-changing superstar!!
If you think about it, an egg contains everything that is needed to create a living creature (except oxygen). Meaning it contains almost everything a body needs. The shell of the egg is designed in such a way that it lets oxygen enter, and the co2 escape, but not the other way around. That an egg contains everything is a pretty strong indicator you should include it often in your diet.
Considering the egg unit has everything necessary to completely form a functioning, living chicken should be enough evidence of its efficacy to health.
My Grandmother lived to 106. She really didn’t have any serious health issues ie: cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular or blood pressure. Many times when I went to see her she would be eating eggs. I teased her about her egg addiction to which she responded “I love eggs”

Hey Dr Berg! Eggs is my main source of protein. I eat 4-6 good quality eggs per day on a mostly plant based low carb diet. Once in a while I’ll eat wild caught salmon. I’ve been doing this for about 3 years now. Previously ate a more strict vegan diet for years but consuming pasture raised eggs has so many benefits.
I ate 20 eggs a day for six months and was lifting heavy (no cardio). I went for a blood test afterwards and found that I had extremely low LDL levels and elevated HDL levels. The doctor was shocked when I told her what I was eating and told me that this should not be possible. I told her that perhaps it's time you restructure your thought process around eggs. Edit: please go through the comments for more information related to this, as I won't be replying to further queries. Additionally, it's fascinating that people think 20 eggs is a lot. In India, eggs are the cheapest source of protein available. It's quite common for gym goers here to eat that many eggs just for breakfast.
Had a friend so something similar (15 a day) and just had coffee and water. Lost 80 lb in a year and blood markers were all perfect. Keep killing it bro!
I'm 59 years old and back in 1985 I moved in with my girlfriend who was a fit healthy sporty living person like myself. We ate a "balanced" diet very little fast food but my girlfriend used to criticized me for my daily breakfast of 3 soft boiled eggs with multi grain toast and coffee saying you are going to end up with high cholesterol. After a while her constant criticism got me pissed off so I said how about we both get our levels checked as we were only a year different in age around 26 years old. My cholesterol was well below average and hers was well above average and I had been eating eggs for years and still do to this day.
I have been eating 4-5 eggs daily from last 9 months and I am feeling better than ever last 3 years I suffered a lot from health issues but from last 9 months I am free of all diseases and now super fit and healthy
I'm sure all the animals health is very poor. My health is great without them for 23 years now and is endorsed by nearly all major Dietitians organizations worldwide,

A light clicked on for me a few years ago when I had a realization. A fertilized egg will, with no other inputs, eventually turn into a fully functioning living creature. In order to become a chicken, it MUST NECESSARILY already contain EVERYTHING that is in a healthy chicken. By definition, it is a complete source for all required nutrients for animal life. The egg is the most perfect food in the world.
@@xnoreq Wow you missed the point and put a lot of words in his mouth he didn't say. Learn to read between the lines and don't take everything so literally.
I think he is saying if a chicken is a good food source with many nutrients the egg which the chicken will become is also a good food source. In my opinion probably better since it is the source of the chicken.
I have my own laying hens that are outside all day and have access to an unlimited area. I love eggs and eat 6 to 8 of their eggs per day and still feel great. I am 66 years old and live on a ranch so also have lots of fresh air, sunshine and exercise every day. Glad to hear from the good Dr. that they are good for me!
I always wondered about the cholesterol glad you answered it! Its aggrivating how much false info is out there and how little schools teach about healthy eating. I quit eating red meat a long time ago because of the lies I heard. After watching your vids I put it back in my diet and couldn't believe how much better I felt. I even had a chronic chest pain that has almost completely went away. I think it may have been from iron deficiency but not sure. So think you so much for educating us!
Key thing to remember and understand is that, its not the eggs, meats ect,. that give you the heart attacks, strokes ect,. its eating those with sugar. When you eat such foods with sugar in any form then glycation occurs, google that word so you get a more in depth idea of what its about. But glycation in general terms is when sugar molecules when in the presence of protein/cholesterol binds to protein and makes protein nonfunctional, then you have a sticky glob floating around in you that gets stuck on things, and creating situations that resemble heart attacks, and strokes, ect,. Eat proteins on their own, eat it with greens, but never with sugar!
I find whenever I have a health question you answer it. Recently I was consuming only eggs for protein and wondered if it was a good idea. Thank you for answering my question Dr. Berg!
My grandmother ate a soft boiled egg every day, plus bacon fat at room temperature, spread like butter on a German biscuit with chives and pepper. She smoked two cigarettes per day (after breakfast and one mid day), had a shot of Enzian schnapps once or twice per week and walked 2 miles round trip every morning, up until her last few days of life. She died in her sleep. She lived to be 96 years old. That’s how I want to go out.
I've been eating pasture- raised eggs for many years and have great cholesterol numbers. I'm 57. I've had vegans try and tell me how bad they are for you but how could something with so many nutrients not be great for you. I've always considered them a superfood! Thanks for confirming. 👍
That's because they are. The only food that even comes CLOSE to eggs is beef liver; 6 good-quality eggs (I love Eggland's Best!) have as much or more of nearly ALL nutrients as liver does, and if less, it's still already reached optimal levels. Now multiply that several times over and it becomes clear that you could eat nothing but eggs and survive longer than 99% of people on the planet.
It's really sickening that conventional doctors and big pharma's know that eggs are good for you but warn you away from it so they can capitalise from your ill health! Dr Berg, thank you!!
yes 100 percent .. and this is only one thing many others like avoid sun light limit red meat and the list goes on and on safe t say do the opposite to what they recommend
Sounds like the comment I just made a minute ago. Big Pharma makes recommendations to the FDA, and the FDA makes recommendations to us based on what big Pharma tells them. We eat, healthy, really healthy, not by their so-called recommendations, we won't need their drugs. And they don't like that part.
I ate 6 to 12 eggs a day for over a year. After a lipid panel my total cholesterol was a bit high but my HDL was 90 and my triglycerides were normal. These 2 indicators are FAR more important health markers. Every cell wall in your body is made from cholesterol and most of that is made by your body and is not derived from your diet.
My mother also ate an insane amount of eggs every day and had the same results as you. When i get a little terrain i must have a bunch of chickens, eggs are great.
I was plant based for 4 years and I was in great shape, did not lack protein or anything else, however I did notice change in skin, hair and nails (for the worse) which leg me to believe that even though my blood work was ok something was missing. I did also realize that the push for veganism is part of the let's go green initiative. So we are supposed to eat plants, drink out of stainless steel straws, drive electric cars, while the elite who is telling us to do this is traveling around the world on their private jets, big yachts, eating steak for dinner and building huge houses with green grass and large pools. Rules for me but not for thee. So I went back to a normal diet and adding intermittent fasting was the other best thing I could do. Edit: just a follow up on the original post. Shortly after writing it I gathered all of my previously done tests ( blood work, body analysis etc), decided to redo them just a couple weeks after switching back to eating what was normal for me, and now about a year later I decided to do them again. What most surprised me is the fact that even though my weight did not go up, my muscle mass and body fat percentage varied significantly. And I mean that. By the time I redid my tests the first time which was a few years into a plant based diet, I found myself having lost 17 lbs of muscle mass. For those who don't know, it's normal to lose about 1% muscle mass every year, usually after the age of fifty. I was not that age, and 17 lbs were about 15% of my weight in just a few years. My body fat percentage went up from 20 to 36 percent. From just a diet change. That was unbelievable eye-opening to me and I am of the opinion that one should live however they choose, but obviously this was not the right choice for me. So I waited about a month after I started eating normal again (simple and clean; animal protein, vegetabled, fruits and without any exercise) to redo the tests and just from that diet change I gained 5lbs of muscle and decreased my body fat percentage but 4%. I was literally wasting away despite being very conscious about what and how much (plant protein, calories, supplements etc) I ate. On the outside things seemed ok but the inside (and the skin, nails and hair) was telling me something different. After a year I am back to my normal, my hair is shiny again, the leathery skin is becoming more elastic and brighter looking and my nails have lost all the weird lines. I would say I am looking much healthier then before so something must be going right for me. To each their own. And don't let politics keep you away from good people 😁
I personally did this survey on my own body for for almost two years. I consumed three eggs every morning cocked in olive oil with my low carb diet. I got tons of good results such as loosing weight to a healthy range, good sleep, best digestive system and more. I did my annual health check up and the results were as follow. 1- Hba1c- 5.3 2- blood pressure- 115/75 3- cholesterol. 170 4- Hdl- 62 5- triglycerides - 70 I lost 50 lbs in this period and my waist size dropped to 35.5 from 40. As a result, I recommend eggs as a healthy food along with other healthy organic foods.
Thank you Dr. Berg. I surely believe it, since I've been eating 2 or 3 organic eggs a day for more than 10 years now. I've never got sick so far and no medication. My doctor says l'm so healthy as my blood presure is always normal, 110/80 and my triglyceride is 61.

Interesting, I was a CNA/HHA for about 30 years and many of my residents were long livers we called them. They all ate eggs and meat on a regular basis. Quite a few were over 100 years old. Some of them were in the same facility that I worked at, ages 113, 112, 107, 105, 102. There were quite a few in their 90's as well. But there was the other extreme as well, younger residents who had many health problems who died young even though these facilities had nutritionists making the menus according to the food pyramid recommendations. We had to learn this in our Nursing assistant training as well. Our centenarians didn't go by that until they got in the nursing facility for the most part and then they started to have the traditional meals and experienced a decline in their health. Dr Berg this is one of your best and most accurate informative videos yet! Animal foods really don't get enough attention for optimal health. We only have been eating animal foods for eons but the "experts" say that they are bad for us all of sudden
Being a long time nutrition and health researcher myself i'd like to add to this, that anytime you eat foods that have high cholesterol you body lowers its own. What makes cholesterol bad in general terms is eating eggs, meats, any protein for that matter with just about any form of sugar. When you eat eggs and other proteins in whats called a mono diet that is not eating a goulash of a meal, eating foods on their own without mixing them, eating such proteins with sugar causes whats called Glycation to occur, you can google that word but basically glycation is when sugar molecules if in the presence of protein will bind and attach themselves to protein and make them nonfunctional. This creates alot of havoc and situations in your blood, you end up with a tangled mess floating through your system which creates and enables other things to happen such as unnatural high cholesterol, inflammation, strokes, heart attacks, even cancer in some instances, ect,. Glycation is inevitable at some level part of life but what makes it harmful is the constant consumption of sugars and including such concentrated sugars as high fructose corn syrups, eating eggs, and proteins with orange juice, any juice for that matter. What the media isn't telling you is that sugar is the real enemy and culprit of most diseases, of course that doesn't mean cut out sugar and be sedentary all your life, it means if your going to eat something with sugar in it, make it from an organic natural source but dont eat alot of it, and dont eat it with protein. You'll never see wild carnivores or even scavengers in the wild eating meat with a side order of juice or pop, seriously people, we are still an animal species. Another interesting fact is your brain requires cholesterol, one type of cholesterol aka DHA or Docosahexaenoic acid which be supplemented with or acquired from foods such as fish, and seafood is a great source of omega 3 fatty acids. Did you know that your brain is made up of fat ... yes, and 1 fraction of it is made up of DHA, i quote: "DHA makes up over 90% of the n-3 PUFAs in the brain and 10%-20% of its total lipids. DHA is especially concentrated in the gray matter" Pretty amazing stuff, so that is to say that eating healthy is important and understanding what your eating and how to eat it is also important, our culture has taught us how not to eat properly, but we are learning. The best thing you can do for yourself is research, learn, study these things, dont take things at face value or what others say but do your own research. Lastly on sugar again, sugar isn't what you think it is in an organic natural state like from an apple sugar comes with an enzyme called amylase, if amylase is not present in what your eating or drinking whatever form of sugar or included sugar, then sugar is not going to be digested, and or processed, assimilated properly. Sugar on another level forming glucose in the body is a very poor source of energy, you can burn through your glycogen quickly, eat protein and natural organic fats with your meal and you will eat less and feel more satiated, on sugar you will be hungry more often. Hope that wasn't to much. Cheers!
Thanks for the long informative post. So, if someone takes sugar in tea, it will not be digested and absorbed into the blood stream , because of the lak of amylase ? Did I deduce it right ?
when you say sugar, you mean all kinds of carbohidrates or simple carbs or what exactly? fruits, sweet potato, rice, pasta, etc? sugar and fruits? raisins? are you telling us to just eat protein sources and fat sources aka doing keto diet?
@@saluto1397 no, table sugar in your tea will definitely be absorbed in your bloodstream. That's why it raises your bloodsugar. Eating complex carbs containing fiber will raise the sugar in the blood more gradually. Simple sugar which in nature doesn't even exist, will spike your bloodsugar. And amylase is also produces by your saliva glands and pancreas to help break down sugar. Make sure to eat about 30% of your diet raw and you will get enough digestive enzymes from your food
I was just searching about how good eggs are for the protien. And then this notify me. Thank you Doc, this really answers my questions and I just started working out this month and already seen some results!!
I always said that if I lived in a deserted island, and could choose to bring 3 items, eggs would be one of them. Eggs are one of my top favorite foods. Thanks for the video.
A US POW in Korea was fed nothing but eggs in captivity for three years. He was saying that even though he was basically in a cage with no room for exercise, he never felt fitter in his life and continued to eat eggs when he was returned to the US.
This is why I love Dr. Berg. He’s not sugar coating the fact that plant-based eating is becoming highly popular or in other words “trendy.” In my opinion it’s largely due to the government’s agenda. First the message is beware of processed foods but yet also be told that eating mock-meats are okay, which are extremely processed as well. And I’m saying all this as someone who has been vegan for over decade. It’s not meant for everyone. Find what works for YOU!
That’s what I think is good about the “whole food plant based” label as distinct from vegan, not just to get away from the negative connotation it has for many people, but to emphasize what you should eat more of instead of what you shouldn’t eat. Just not eating animal products isn’t going to make you healthy. Eating more ideally fresh veggies…I don’t think anyone can argue with that. It is becoming trendy because it sounds like there are a lot amazing health benefits. But would you be more, less, or equally healthy if you added eggs, maybe occasional sushi? What about bacon, assuming you avoided sugary and processed foods? I’d like to know, but have no freaking clue at this point. For every “expert”, you can find another who says the exact opposite. But at least they agree we should stay away from processed foods.
Thank you so mmch for addressing this subject. This seems to be one of the fear mongering subjects of the century. And all your videos are steeped in science so I can be confident in following your advice. You have improved my help immensely. I am 73 and embarking on a muscle building program and feel great. Frankly I am healthier than my vegan neighbors who are younger.
The notion of only having 2 eggs is connected to WW2 rationing where people got either a single egg or perhaps 2. It's cultural conditioning. In countries without war rationing they always eat more eggs per serving today. Added to that the decades of marketing lies which demonised eggs, many people think that 2 eggs is maximum. Eat as many eggs as you want. We need to eat more eggs.

This video is related to the "chicken" video you linked in the end... And both in turn are also related to the topic you adressed in the "Do Not Eat Chicken Again, Until You Watch This..." video... Namely, the eggs nutrition value is highly affected on whether the hen is in a Cage, Cage free or Free Range and Outside... Indoor eggs are bleak, less tasteful and lower in nutrients. Outdoor free eggs are warm, colorful, tastes a lot and high value nutrient.

@@CuriousConnoisseurs It's seed oils that are the problem and maybe what he is referring to. Genuine cold pressed oils aren't a problem. @@CuriousConnoisseurs vegetable oils are great in general. however they are bad when used for cooking. like really bad. they are unsaturated so even if you don't burn the oil but something burn on your pan it easily "attaches" itself to unsaturated oil. I remember my aunt and uncle bragging about how healthy margarine was and buying that liquid egg whites that you pour out of a carton. They also ate scrapple, the breakfast meat from Philadelphia.
From my childhood I’ve been told that it’s bad to eat more than 2 eggs a day. And I’ve never questioned it before watching the video. Thanks for busting this myth cause I love eggs 😂😂
I heard similar. Everyone always saying how egg yolk is so bad. Like it's worst thing to eat ever. 😂 That's why my parents never bought eggs. Now I live alone and eat them. But still some people think 4 eggs is too much lol. What about bodybuilders who eat like 20 eggs everyday
I have been vegan for over 27 years (and am fully happy with that) but STILL find this video valuable. My wife, who is breastfeeding our 2-month daughter, surely does benefit from eggs. It is definitely better than milk (and she is lactose intolerant).
Vegan can not eat eggs or consume milk or any dairy products. So your wife is not vegan then, maybe u may allow her to consume meat like the rest of them normal people?
10-15 eggs per day for around 3yrs now, mostly a carnivore diet. Learned about the coronary calcium artery scan from Dr Berg recently and took the test. Scored a big fat zero. That's eating a large portion of red meat daily as well.
@@auburntiger94 did keto for around a year before carnivore. That taught me the importance of fat in the diet and the extreme benefits of intermittent fasting. I couldn't how quickly I started adding muscle on carnivore. I am on testosterone at 47. I'm 6'2, 205 and look like a spartan racer without living in the gym and wasting hours doing cardio. get healthy on the inside and the body WILL respond
Love this Dr Berg, thank you so much - I’ve been eating eggs every day for over 10 years and some of my friends are always warning me off them so the more good scientific data and your kind of research the better & is very much appreciated. Thank you again :-)
have you gotten regular blood check up for lipids/cholesterol ? how were your levels? what is your daily exercise level at ? thanks in advance for your responses.
@@NextManu Yes I have regular annual checks for my cholesterol and while it is up there my good cholesterol is very high and my ‘mainstream’ gp/md deems this protective and of no concern. I exercise daily, either at the gym or an hour walk minimum.
Raise your own hens, feed them a cheap-but-healthy diet & be AMAZED at the quality of eggs they lay. The yolks aren't yellow, but, instead are a dark orange. It's crazy!
So is my high cholesterol level nothing to be concerned abou My good cholesterol is at a good level but my bad cholesterol is very high. My overall cholesterol is 283.
A few decades ago I remember reading in a book titled "Bypassing Bypass" that scrambling eggs creates more oxidized cholesterol (oxycholesterol) when the yolk is damaged by heat and oxygen. It makes sense but I never looked into this subject in depth. I just stuck with eating poached eggs as a possibly safer choice.
Anyone who is eating eggs for their micronutrients should consider buying pasture-raised eggs. In order to maximize the nutrients in eggs, hens need to have high quality feed and plenty of access to a natural environment - pasture raised eggs are typically up to that high standard. This applies to all other animal products, too! Proper food sourcing is essential.
The likes of Dr Eric Berg have made me less dependent on the NHS doctors who read from a text book, I bluntly refused to follow my doctor’s recommendation on management of diabetes. I went all out to reverse it, today my GP asking what I did to stabilise / lower my blood sugar. Credits to the like of Dr Berg and other American doctors who are leading the way on insulin resistance.
Good for you! Taking your health into your own hands! I have found that the MDs on RU-vid have done more for me than any doctor in real life. Another channel you might like is Beat Diabetes with Dennis Pollack. I don’t have T2D but I live like one. I’m so sure I’ve had some insulin resistance as much sweets as I use to eat.
What were your main changes? Yes I can understand the medical field being against these true health processes. They’re taught “what’s bad” but is that teaching from ignorance or to keep us needing doctors for various ailments?
What is your rating or comparison between Organic Eggs and Farm Eggs, considering that the feed given to farm chickens differs significantly from that of organic chickens?
@@johnsergie3906 To be honest, I started eating meat after being vegetarian for 7 years. Only because I worked next to a Sushi place and the gave us free meal each shift. They got me with the Teryaki Salmon etc So i still eat lots of eggs, I just now have salmon, beef aswell.
Great video Dr. Berg! And great comments too. I think it was eggs that opened my eyes to the FDA, and basically all other alphabet soup gov organizations. If the FDA says, "Don't eat eggs." I think we can safely assume we should all eat eggs. Thank you for being a voice of truth!
Lol. .. I'm with you Steven. Common sense should rule. When one of the alphabet agencies said coconut oil wasn't good for you (AMA, maybe) I knew for sure these folks weren't on the level. I'd already known but that sealed it...
Thanks Dr Berg! My father was an old school body builder & everything you said just galvanized what my father taught us- Additionally, eggs, tuna, milk... are relatively cheap but pack a nutritional punch-
Raw eggs have been my primary protein source for several years now. I eat 3-5 a day, only the highest quality pasture raised/organic, but it has been a phenomenal form of protein for me.
I eat like 6 to 10 eggs a day never had issue with high cholesterol. Also they digest much smoother than a lot of other proteins. They don't give me acid reflux or bloating as fast.
I went to my eyes doctor the first thing she asked me do I eat eggs everyday I said yes she replies your vision is 20/20 and good circulation Im 47 And also is good cholesterol i eat eggs everyday is very good for your liver
I ate 2-4 eggs a day for 3 month's on a very carb restricted Keto type diet and my cholesterol went up over the recommended 200 and higher than ever in my life. But not enough to worry about. ( I refuse to pay $4 a dozen for eggs) Bacon every other day as well and an avocado a day. Food fatigue is real with me. My gma lived to 98 but now I do not want to pay the prices for beef to eat every day. But cheap carbs will be the downfall of civilizations health. And those are not as cheap today either, thanks to the Bidenpression we are in. I agree the acid reflux was much better on a low carb/keto "diet".
As a fitness trainer I eat 4, and sometimes 3 not daily, but it's 7 out of 10,Sometimes spice it with 5 spoons of oat fried and eat!! it really helped me a lot building up good muscle, and the fact that it's a cheapest source of protein for me ! Thanks Dr Berg
we have a dish in Turkey called menemen made with eggs, tomato and green pepper it is also considered as a worker dish because it is cheap quick and keeps you full for several hours. After watching this video now I understand also how healthy it is
If I have to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life it would definetily be eggs. Eggs are huge staple of my diet , basically about 70% of my diet relies on eggs and the rest of 30% is beef, pork , chicken and occasional turkey.
I'm with you there. So many adventurous recipes. I love Turkish cilibir. Also on my weekly rotation is Korean grandma toast and Greek style with feta and spinach. Today it was two over easy eggs on parmesean polenta drizzled with the olive oil from the cooking pan.
