Because you mentioned a critical perspective on some Buddhist teaching. Would be great to hear your view on a healthy sense of self. It seems to me that in some branches of Buddhism our sense of self is pathologized & it is often a goal to deconstruct permanently our self. That seems to be not really in alignment with current neuroscience that our sense of self is actually rather useful :D would be amazing to hear your thoughts on that :)

When people say the phrase “the self is an illusion” it can be quite confusing. If it’s rephrased to “the self is an arbitrary construct”, this can be extremely useful and liberating. The goal is an ability to keep the concept of self when it’s helpful, but to notice when it’s not. The deconstruction efforts are designed to help the individual’s direct understanding.

I looked up the Eightfold path. It doesn’t appear to include belief in reincarnation as the guest stated. Here’s what I found on Google: Right View, Right Resolve, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration.
