What would you do? / Offered money for help - turn down or accept?

During Memorial Day weekend we spent the day at the Sanibel Island Causeway. The beach began to get packed and a Chevrolet 1500 2WD gets stuck in some soft sand next to us (lucky for him!) Of course we yanked him right out but, they tried to give me money for the help! Do you accept or not? Why? Comment below and let us know what you would do!

I usually decline the offer of money twice, if they keep offering I'll take it just to make sure no one is insulted. Or say to pay it forward if there isn't a language barrier. If I have to take the money I'll pay it forward myself when I can, either to a server at a restaurant, or someone who needs it at a gas station, or wherever.

I would turn it down. Like you said, as Jeepers we are, most of us anyhow, set up to be able to help others out in situations like this.

I agree and did the first couple times, however, i didn’t want they to think their money wasn’t good enough and / or I felt superior to them. I guess when their is a language barrier and a cultural difference, it kinda through me off. Like I didn’t want to be disrespectful. I just wanted them to have a fun day at the beach with their family.

I wouldn’t take the money. They learned a lesson and hopefully will return the favor if one comes across their path.

In that situation I'd accept it,wear and tear on my Jeep and equipment isn't cheap, if I'm at an event with fellow jeepers then no I wouldn't accept it, it's all part of it.

I would have turned down the money. One day I'll need help and I'd hope the person would be generous enough to do it without expecting compensation.

Originally, I did turn it down lol but he wouldn’t let up and I got the feeling that he began thinking I was being disrespectful and taking offense to the denial. I didn’t ask for any money. I enjoy helping people. I do it for my day job and for charity. I also believe in karma. I wished there was an ice cream truck that was there. I would have bought all the kids ice cream with the money lol

I would decline it of course I think most of us would go out of are way to pull someone out I think it’s fun sometimes if they insist then so be it I wouldn’t want to disrespect anyone I think you handled it the same way I would of
