A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his RU-vid channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

My band split up a few months back. Apart from the odd solo keyboard gig I suggested to the Missus I need to go busking to 'keep the chops' especially on guitar. I work from home so am pretty flexible with my time. I thought lunch time would be a good time for a break as well as busk. She hit the roof. Some of the places I was targeting were near her work place (a government department). Apparently, it would be social suicide if her workmates saw me busking, lol!

Old guy here. Back in the early sixties we knew about minimal equipment. One of the bands I was in, we plugged in the mic, guitar and bass into a two channel fender bassman amp. It worked good enough to play gigs with.

Man Sean thanks alot, i've been busking for the last six months and someone gave me a gig to play for 140 people in 6 weeks, i never done such a thing before had no clue of what i need, but now i got an idea.In the end it felt like you were really talking to me soul directly :') ,like today i was sitting in an irish pub where the pub band was playing live, then one of the players kept saying that anyone who wants to join them after a couple of songs, should do .So only after one and a half beer did i decide to go and ask if could jam with them, man it was the best experience i had in days. Nice demo. I use the TC Helicon Solo FX 150 and I have a TC Helicon vocal harmonizer pedal on top of all that. Much as it is always nicer to have a bassist alongside, it does give me to option to go totally solo when the situation requires or makes it inevitable.

2 words: Grace Bix. I borrowed one for an acoustic show last weekend using my Martin GPC Aura GT and even with the Aura preamp set to pure peizo, the Bix did wonders to make it not all thin and buzzy and when I blended in more of the Aura profile into the sound, it sound really good and the Bix just lets you tweak the perfect places in the EQ to get a fantastic sound. My Fishman Paracoustic DI box is on borrowed time.

Nice setup. I found that for playing electric guitar that a gig bag can hold everything but the kitchen sink and you can wear it freeing up both hands to carry the rest. A light amp is good as well. I went from having to make 3 trips to only one. It's nice to have your gear always safely in sight. You can keep it in sight when you can carry it all in one trip.

Hey there Sean, I like the setup (y) I watched this video as I was making an excel sheet in an attempt to become more organized with what to take lol I use a pretty similar setup, except without a mixer and PA system (usually expect the venue to have it, otherwise I rent and charge extra). The thing is that depending on the venue, you will need different power and distribution of sound, so it's difficult (and expensive) to have scenarios covered. I would also suggest using a tablet holder, unless you are going with papers/books/sheets. I have found out the Hercules tablet holders to be quite sturdy and nice to have just handing on the mic stand. Other things to carry for gigs which I believe are essential (at least for me): extra set of strings, capo, and my voicelive3 looper and guitar/vocal processor (Adds a lot to a gig). Cheers for the interesting videos and sorry for the long message

Great thought on the extra cables. Now that I'm legally blind I can no longer lug my Fender Passport 500 on disabled transport so what I came up with is just my Roland J55 stereo jazz chorus for guitar and a Fender Frontman 15G for vocals. I have a cheap wireless headset mic which is pretty trebly but can be corrected with the Fender's EQ. It works fine at home and with a dolly is super transportable. Haven't tried to take it out yet but I will try after COVID. First rehearsal with my blind bass player and we'll give it a try. Back when I could see and drive I bought a Rodeo so I could lug my amp and pa for a 7 piece. That's just not possible any more.

only critique! The towers only work for small rooms if you want a quality listening experience for everyone. They don't throw far enough for larger size rooms. I use a powered Electrvoice EKX 15p and it sounds killer. A little more of a chore to setup and use, but worth it for consistent sound regardless of the sizer and shape of venue

First time I heard of anyone else using an Audix om5. No bleed through of other instruments. I love mine in fact it's my second one in twenty +years. Honestly though, when I used to play in bars that had their own sound guy, it was often a nightmare. If it's not a shure 58 most "sound guys" were lost because it is not the same to set up. It's Super Active. If you let another singer who stands back from the mic use it their vocals will fade in and out. You gotta plan your moves ( breath & volume). You gotta stay one inch away. Love love love my Audix om5. Vocalists don't use industry standard!

Nice video dude but I just want to point out that if your cables are breaking it is almost definitely because of the way you are putting them away, there is a very good reason that people coil them in a specific way and that is because by letting them knot like a lot of yours seem to be or by pulling them too tight you pull the cable apart inside the casing, the rubber around it stretches but the actual cable doesn’t. Aside from that you have a pretty cool setup, I’m totally getting that PA, that thing is awesome.
@seandaniel23
@seandaniel23 6 лет назад
Thanks so much man! Definitely a big Bose fan.
@bobkelley6574
@bobkelley6574 5 лет назад
Yeah, your cables are a mess and you are damaging them, reducing the useful life. Google “over/under cable coiling”, view the RU-vid videos to learn how. Then get Velcro cable ties. For example 8” x 1/2” work great for cords up to 50’.

I have a Bose pa and since I bought a Roland street amp I never use it .its so easy and sounds great I leave all set up on a water camping trolley with a pull over cover .its great for pub gigs .my mic stand and iPad and cables all slot into it and guitar slots on the back .i wheel it in plug in and I'm good to go .i unplug the instrument ends of cables roll them up bad my guitar slot in my mic iPad and stand and wheel it out to my sub open back door lift it in .shut the door and go for a curry .i don't need a mixer the amp has every input I need even for tracks if I ever use them .they are on the pad in song book app.the easier the better .lose a little bit on sound quality but nobody ever notices the slight difference .roland sound great in 99% of rooms I play .cheers good gigging

Alright. So I’m not experienced with a pa and mixer at all I’ve been using an amp to run a mic and guitar through, I have no clue on how to work a mixer any suggestions?

I'd usually have a backup guitar just in case the electronics decide to fail for no reason or something. But since my primary guitar has an Aura preamp and my others don't, I also bring an Aura pedal for the backup guitar. I don't like having a ton of extra stuff, but tossing that pedal in a backpack isn't a big deal.

Great tip, should've mentioned that too. I always have that old Breedlove in the back of my car just in case.

Hey Sean, appreciate the video. Definitely stood out for me because you weren’t on your couch (I didn’t know you wore shoes!) are there any videos on your channel of you doing a live gig so that we could see this in action? Also, do you ever do gigs/jams with an electric guitar? How does that change your setup? And what is your pedal board like?

Thanks man! I'll try and do a pedalboard vid again soon because a lot has changed since the last one. Also working on filming some live stuff.

Thanks so much, I am a singer who hasn't found a instrument playing partner yet to gig with so going to connect an iPad to play tracks. Suggestions welcome. Would also love to hear you play. Sounded good just with the bit played for checking.
