Uday Kumar Adusumilli We do not have good experience with the silicone socks in the past, so we do not plan it now. They tend to fall off and ruin prints more often, then they help in some way. The heater is plenty powerful to not dip in temperature when the print cooling fan engages.

Please stop constantly saying you need to test things in the interview. He’s just trying to present the new product and it makes the interview really uncomfortable. Nobody is going to use your commentary here as buying advice, and you don’t need to constantly let us know that what he’s claiming is publicly untested. Concluding the interview you can summarize with how impressive all the new things will be if they live up to what he says, and how you can’t wait to get one to test out. That sounds a lot more friendly and positive than “ok but I don’t know how it performs I’m going to have to test that” after he presents every feature.

Love your channel Tom, but your interviews are cringeworthy. You don’t need to be tough or easy on your guests; just ask open-ended questions and let your subject answer. Setting up answers while you ask the question is just not working. Give us the information and we will process it. One more thing, stay with your guest. It is very distracting when you look around while your guest speaks. We notice it. Thanks for all your hard work. Love your regular videos!

@d1sinfo

Cringe-worthy? Do we really need to go to ad hominem's over such nuance? Do you have an example of your performance while interviewing industry legends maybe Thomas can learn from your expertise on interviews? Or maybe even an example of an interview you like by another youtuber? Either way I find the near 'artistic' critique of interviews by non contributors frustrating, so it would help to see how you contribute, or do you just mooch others content and criticize nuance without giving anything back? If you do nbd, I don't but then again I ain't whinging over 'artistic' differences.

I would love to have one so that I could contribute to Prusa Firmware, and learn a thing or two from Michael Prusa. Plus, my other printers are all too big to sit on my desk. Does 32-bit give higher quality prints? It can! By running the stepping ISR more often we get less “aliasing” between the synchronized axes, and this helps to reduce subtle surface artifacts.

I just have to say in regards to josef prusa's comment. "If you switch to our printer from another brand you will truly appreciate our printers" I can attest to that. I started with 2 flsun printers which were cheap but they worked and I learned alot. Especially with almost no customer support. I sold them and "upgraded" or so I thought to 2 ender 3's. After many upgrades and failed prints I boxed them up and finally got to buy what was a dream printer for me the mk3s. Then the mmu2s and another mk3s and now the mini is preordered! I just have to say thanks to Tom for a great interview. I always love to see josef speak of his creations. Yep, this is why I likely will go for Prusa in the near future too. I started the hobby with an Ender-2 and had a lot of theory in my mind already from all these great channels, I immediately recognized the bad stuff and started replacing it, then modding everything and now I have an "Ender" which is very close to this new Prusa Mini, funny enough (total cost is close to 450 Euro haha). I now love it, I learned a ton and am now comfortable to buy any other printer as I know how to tackle stuff. Prusa seems the most logical as the community and support are unmatched.
@dionhouston
@dionhouston 5 лет назад
@@VincentGroenewold I went both directions - I started with an MP Select Mini which I tore apart, replaced almost every single thing on it, and learned a lot about 3D printing. I then went with the MK2S which I love, awesome awesome printer. I then deployed and decided not to take my printer with me, so ended up buying an Ender 3 overseas. Not a bad printer at all, and I did mod it, but now it's not printing right. I'll be back to my Prusa when it comes in tomorrow. Nothing wrong with lower cost printers - they can still make great prints, but the quality level is just SO much higher with the Prusas...

Honestly this is underwhelming, look at an Anycubic Mega S. It arrives almost fully assembled for $250 with free shipping with a bigger build volume, absolutely awesome base and is rock solid made of steel and not printed 3D brackets. Can someone answer me this? Are a lot of 3D printers actually made by printed parts just part of the marketing? Or is it a volume thing? Seems Prusa is at the volume that they can do molded stuff. but they tied their marketing to print farms.

I want a Prusa Mini LX (Long X) which would be 20cmZ x 30cmY x 1 METER long X axis. You could print a life sized femur, or really long tools, or all sorts of things. Just imagine what having one extra long axis could open up! $450.

Hey thomas I don't think you should respond so awkwardly. Things like arguing over price or questioning the heat block clearly are putting off josef and come off incessant. Just move onto the next question even if you have a disagreement. At the end, maybe compile and talk about the things you're critical of once you leave. Great job otherwise.

Will you be able to review the Prusa Mini anytime soon? I just ordered one as my first home 3D printer and there's a lot about this printer's limits and capabilities that I'm puzzled by. First off, it doesn't advertise that it can print nylon, yet it can reach 280deg C, which should be enough to print nylon. Normally printing nylon would require an all-metal hotend, but in your interview with Joseph Prusa, he said that the point where the end of the PTFE tube contacts the heat block, the temperature is only 160deg C, so nowhere near melting or deforming the PTFE tube. So if I'm not mistaken, the only thing holding this printer back from printing nylon should be the brass nozzle, which can be easily swapped for a hardened nozzle. Am I wrong?

Wow this looks like hot garbage for the money. The frame in particular is obviously built to be as cheap as possible with no regard for rigidity. The 32bit isn't a selling point either. The boards are a few bucks more over the 8 bit. People will still buy it though because sheep and if there's one thing sheep love is being led by influencers in the pocket of manufacturers.

Looking forward to the XL model. I am not intending to set up a farm but want a machine that can handle all I could throw at it. 40x40x40 would be great. What I hate is how expensive shipping to Europe is and also the fact that your VAT rate is higher than what we pay locally (18%).

Besides the PINDA probe, I don't really see much on this that makes it overly exciting especially at this price. There are a lot of printers out there with the same if not better build. The Anycubic Mega S has one of the best bases on the market and dual Z screws with dual guides. It's immensely accurate and performs superbly even with flexibles, it's got a bigger build area and is made of solid steel instead of 3D printed brackets, all for only $250 shipped instead of Prusa's $350 + shipping.

Custom hotends are nightmare. Bought Anycubic 4Max Pro, it's fine from the box, but I don't like "delivering" SD cards from point A to point B each time, printer far away from PC - that mean way to go is Duet Wifi. And extruder there Titan direct with custom hotend - only suitable option to change to Aero is Titan Aero Volcano (someone said it can be precise like ordinal V6 with 0.4 nozzle and it can print faster). The biggest issue with hotend is nonstandard distance to bad - it is much smaller than ordinal V6 but larger than Titan Aero V6.

i like that iprusa has a lot of experience making these machines and has a lot of support in their own little community/forum. Many of the cheaper chinese units don't inspire a lot of confidence imho. They look good, but what is the support, how good is the firmware/software, really? So I will be getting a Mini and I don't mind waiting.

Just ordered a Mini, my first 3D printer (been using a shared old MakerBot gen5 ugh.) Makes total sense to me, so many of the things I see being printed are fairly small. Even the larger printers . . . only have one print head right? So yes a lot of people might be better off with two small printers than one big one especially when half the price - you can put two print heads to work at once. Then when I'm ready I may buy a larger fancier printer . . . but probably still get a lot of use out of the Mini, and be able to print 2 things at once. Would love a Mk 3 of course but the price . . . Not really concerned about the single upright column. There is very little stress on an extruder head. Not like it's a CNC router or something. I get the feeling that Prusa designs things with the right ethos: all the things you really need, none of the things you don't.

Great interview Tom and Josef! @Josef - Watch out for support issues on that 4-pin Power DIN connector!!! So many issues with this on the MBT Replicator 2, as it's so easy for customers to insert it 180 degrees rotated, it is way too easy to force and the Mightyboard would be instantly toasted! Since it seems to be THE industry connector, not surprised you ended up using it, I assume you've got great protection on the power rails already. I've ended up using it myself in custom printer designs but to add extra protection, I give the casing a deep, sculpted socket which keys to the housing of the male plug, to make it impossible to mis-power. Also retrofitted this to my Replicator 2 farm.
