For anyone who’s trying to decide what university course you want to do, I can totally understand how potentially confusing and overwhelming it can be. If you’re someone who thinks they’ve got it all figured out, then good for you!! Having said that though, I’d strongly urge you to keep watching because the things I discuss in this video are the experiences of someone who has gone through her first 10 years after high school - the beginning years of a career, switching a career, and finally building a career that I’m really happy and proud of. There’s a lot of learnings I want to share with you which I think will help you feel less stressed about this big decision you have to make, and to understand what’s really ahead of you over the next few years and decade. I promise, this video covers a topic I’ve barely seen anyone talk about, so I know it’ll give you a unique and fresh perspective :)

EXTRA NOTE: This is the first time I've articulated this idea of 'hierarchy of career needs' so I wrote everything down before filming this video to ensure I could clearly express this concept. That's why you'll see me looking down at my notes a lot - I hope it's not too distracting! 😊... I really hope this helps a few of you out there. By understanding careers from this new perspective, I cannot tell you how much it was helped me feel at peace with my convoluted, messy, and unconventional pathway. For the longest time, I couldn't understand why I was still unhappy with my Lisa's Study Guides career, despite having left pharmacy (something I hated even more-so). I spent the last 3-4 years tied up in confusion, and it was only when I realised that I was naturally evolving and wanting more out of my career (moving from 'lifestyle' need to 'impact' need) that I started to feel confident and proud of my career pathway. Hi Lisa, new subbie here! 👋 This is a brilliant topic and I don’t know why it isn’t spoken about more. I’m applying this same logic to a career pivot, whereby I’m still in the “lifestyle” segment of needs 😀 One of the best things I’ve read on choosing a career is to also consider the lifestyle that might be attached with the job, and to consider whether this is a good fit for you. So it could capture things like work-life balance and tolerance level towards stress for example, which are both super relevant for the working world today. Thank you for this! 😄

This could have not come in a better time since I'm really stressing out over whether I made the right choice choosing my university course since I don't feel as compelled as being in this field myself as I did when I was a freshman. Thank you Lisa!
