What does God say about empathy? It's deep. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

You should make a video on how your PARENT should treat you. Too little focus on narcissistic parents and going no contact with them.
@Lisa19000
@Lisa19000 11 месяцев назад
What do you need from your parent(s) that you aren't getting? What does your parent need from you that you aren't giving them? Hopefully your parent(s) are working on themselves as well, like you are, and you can talk and have a healthy, meaningful relationship soon. I'm realizing that I'm coming from a line of toxic family relationships. Not to make it a competition or blame game... just want to let you know from experience that there is a good chance that your parent(s) is suffering/hurting from your broken relationship way more than you are. They are coming from a place of wound and self blame that you can't imagine unless you're been through the same thing as a parent. So please give them some grace. Do you have someone that can show them this video?
@Lisa19000

@Lisa19000
@Lisa19000 11 месяцев назад
Would you want to talk to them after they watched this video? Maybe send this to them and ask them to watch it and ask them to please not respond right away. Ask them to give themselves some time to gathering some meaningful thoughts on this video pertaining to your relationship and ask if they'd be willing to come together and have an adult conversation about your problems. I don't think that you would have made your post here if you didn't hope that you could have a good relationship with your parent(s). Do you truly respect your parent(s) as a person? If you don't, they can feel that no matter what you say. Like Stephanie said that is number one. If you dont respect them, it probably isn't a good time for you to reach out to them. Your parents are human, with flaws, insecurities and probably poor relationship/communicstion skills just like any other. This is going to be rough. You both have to figure out where your shortcomings are and to want to improve themselves, for things to improve between you guys. I hope that you don't give up. I dont think that it is ever too late for a parent and child to change to have a healthy relationship. Realize just bc you are the one making a healthy effort and reaching out, doesn't mean that you are saying that it is your fault. If your relationship improves, if they grow as a person, does it really matter if they feel that way right away? You know the truth and hopefully they will eventually. Ik it probably sucks to feel like you are the adult one, but honestly you may be the more emotionally mature one. They probably weren't shown or taught how to have a healthy relationship. Remember mutual respect. Good luck!

I had to fight for and remind him of the basics that make a relationship “healthy”. The bare minimum’s. I have since lost all respect for him. Trust. Etc. He has NPD and BPD officially as of March. 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 01:10 🚀 *Respect is the foundation of healthy relationships. Signs of lacking respect include interruption, disregard for opinions, absence of boundaries, unkindness, and lack of appreciation.* 03:04 🗣️ *Communication is vital, involving both healthy talking and listening. Healthy communication requires expressing feelings without manipulation, projection, or aggression, and practicing empathy when listening.* 06:18 🤝 *Trust is built through mutual respect and actions aligning with words. It extends beyond fidelity, encompassing emotional safety in a relationship.* 08:37 ❤️ *Emotional support is crucial for overcoming life's challenges. Good relationships provide comfort, empathy, and a non-judgmental environment, fostering a deeper emotional connection.* 10:10 🤝 *Shared values and beliefs are essential for successful relationships, offering a common ground for building a life together. Regular discussions about roles, goals, and adjustments are key to maintaining a strong connection.* Made with HARPA AI

@@aleksandramakuch5133 I totally get it, 29 years here and haven't began the process yet, but going to. I still ruminate some, I think it's probably normal when someone you love lied to you for so long and now you don't know who to trust or believe. The thing I keep thinking about that gets me through is that I know this is a very rare situation we're in. The chance of us getting back into another narcissistic relationship is very small if you pay attention to the red flags up front. I saw many of them and I'm sure you did too. Hang in there and know that you'll feel like a different person again soon.

She's on the money about one thing: If you bring low self-esteem, insecurity, or other "stuff" to a relationship that you're not honest about, and should have worked on before you got into the relationship, you will always be on the defensive, never equals, with those five aforementioned tenets unachievable; effectively in the relationship for you, not us, and consigning the relationship to eventual extinction, probably sooner rather than later. (sorry for run-on sentence).

Very well said and can resonate with them all. My last relationship was great for the first 7 months, then he started raging at me over nothing and started to act controlling, telling me to stop smiling at people whilst on holiday and got verbally mad that I danced with some women. Then started the demeaning behaviour “ oh that’s just typical of you “, if I dropped some food down my top , for example. The final straw was telling me to “ man up and drive my car home “ the day after I had a leg op.

So, if I were out to meet someone I would date them much longer and stick to Christian values this time around, would there be any questions we could ask or things we could do in a subtle way to test if they are a narcissist? Hi Stephanie. I hope you respond to this message. I was involved in a close friendship with a narcissistic girl many years ago. I don't think it's possible to have any of those 5 standards with these kind of people. Am I wrong? She was a great girl ,minus the narcissism. I still think about her. I haven't spoken to her for over 20 years and I was still angry with her for all those years up until I discovered your videos about 6 months ago. Thank you. I never knew what a narcissist was. I thought it was someone who was self absorbed. It's the selfishness and lack of caring that really describes a narcissist. But, I disagree with you about narcissism being a personality disorder. I think narcissism is their personality. I also think personality is primarily controlled by genes. They are the way they are. You have to either accept them the way they are or move on. I couldn't accept her so I stopped talking to her but I didn't want to. She lit me up like a Christmas tree. At the time I didn't have the emotional strength or maturity to face her or my feelings for her so the relationship just deteriorated. I never really understood why I liked her so much . She had a lot of casual friends and they did favors for her and invited her to parties etc. I doubt she reciprocated. Why would someone do favors for someone like this?
