After leaving the Calgary Flames almost 3 years ago, this former 6th round draft pick seemingly fell off the hockey map. So, that begs the question: whatever happened to Karri Ramo? Watch to find out!

Niittymaki was sharing games with Niemi in San Jose but played poorly. He had hip problems but he would have needed a massive surgery to fix it so he just tried to heal it physiotheraphy but it got worse all the time. His struggle with his hip affected his game so he fell off the hockey map and soon he would retire. After his retirement he got a whole new hip. He said in interview that it got so bad that he couldn't climb stairs because it would hurt too much. Kinda sad story about what he could have been if he had done something to his hip sooner... We Finns wont forget how he played in 2006 olympics.

You are absolutely right! What I meant by it was that he was starting his North American professional playing career rather than his professional playing career as a whole. The worst part of being a backup goalie under a premier goalie is you don't get much ice time to adjust and grow your skills. If they are stuck there for 5 years or more as a backup their chances dwindle significantly to make a career of it.
@MyNameIsNidos
@MyNameIsNidos 5 лет назад
This. In 2006, Martin Brodeur played 73 games. Backup Scott Clemmensen started 9 games and played only 13. Gotta feel bad for the dude, he wasn’t even a bad player and probably was mentored by Marty himself. In 2009, Brodeur was injured and Clemmensen stepped up, going 25-13-1 as a starter for half the season.

7:12 There are 3 Dynamos' in KHL: Dynamo Riga, Dynamo Minsk and Dynamo Moscow. Dynamo Minsk never won the cup and i am not even sure that they got past the 1st round of play-offs. That was Dynamo Moscow who eliminated Avangard in the finals. Actually you can see that Dynamo Minsk was eliminated by Dynamo Moscow in the 1st round of same play-offs I would say that's pretty bad mistake there. Dynamo MSK is short from "MoSKva" - the original name of the city. Dynamo Mn is short from "MiNsk" - the original name of the city. Also interesting fact. All Dynamo teams are from capitals of 3 different countries.

Loved the video. However, didn't like how you based how a goalie played in a particular season based largely on their win %. For example, during the 06-07 season he finished with a 15-24-1 record with the Springfield Falcons. My friend Kevin Beech also played goal on that team for a few games and said that Karri "carried" (pun intended), the team to a lot of those wins even though the team was quite weak. Even great goalies can't obtain a record over .500 on a weak team. There are much better stats nowadays for measuring a goalies play, and in my opinion win % should ALWAYS be taken with a grain of salt.
@OddManRush
@OddManRush 5 лет назад
I completely agree that a goaltenders' career shouldn't be based solely on their record, which why I like to also delve into their GAA and SV% too. It's just I prefer to keep each season to a small summary of the 3 categories so each video isn't 30 mins long and really boring to watch (even moreso than it already is! :D) Thanks for the feedback though and thanks for watching :)
