After suiting up for the Dallas Stars towards the end of the 13/14 NHL season, goaltender Tim Thomas seemingly fell off the hockey map. So, that begs the question: whatever happened to Tim Thomas? Watch to find out!

When he retired was he technically the last nordique to retire because he was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques

Umm...... I'm not sure I understand your logic bud, however, let's take a moment to 'member how Gary 'Big Smelly' Buttman completely fakked over the city and the province of Quebec by not fighting for the Nords and their supporters.... (And JUST when that team was going places and were poised on the lip of greatness too... Coincidence?? 🤔🤔) The Lindros refusal, the subsequent trade, the pieces aquired because of it, and the line-up Quebec would have been able to ice in the '95-96 season was a massive slap to the face of Nordique fans. To have to sit back and watch what SHOULD have been, YOUR team move to an American market and win a Cup the very next year caused marriages to break up and too many purposeful maple syrup OD's to count. Shame on Buttman, and shame on him even more to stand in the way of the NHL's return to such a passionate city... They have the arena, they have the fans, they can/will have the corporate support....... The next expansion had better be into Canada Gary, or.............. (I dunno, but I'm sure something negative will happen damnit!)

@@mattywatty5083 As a French Canadian I agree with you almost 100% but even though they had a very strong team, we don't know if the Nordiques would have won the cup without Roy and it's for damn sure Roy would have never been traded to that team had it stayed in Quebec City.

Tim Thomas will always be my favourite goalie of all time. My dad took me to my first NHL game in 2007 between the Bruins and Leafs (which also happened to be Tuukka Rask's NHL debut). We went down to the first row for the warm ups as we were seated behind the Bruins end. I was the lone Bruin fan among a sea of blue Leafs jerseys. Tim Thomas noticed me while he stretched in the corner and smiled before flipping a puck over the glass straight to me. On top of the excitement of it being my first game, I got to experience a once in a lifetime moment with one of my idols. I will always be grateful for him.

What? Lucic... Marchand... Were the biggest offenders that series. The Bruins straight up goon'd their way to a cup win. It was obvious when they were outplayed in the first 2 games. That hit on Horton from Rome woke the bruins and is what lost the Canucks the cup IMO. I am happy the Canucks lost that year, we were mostly a trade deadline team, with only a couple great players we drafted into our system. This new canucks team JB is drafting will be fun to watch bring the cup home, They are looking deadly for such a young team.

Here's why you should do more research than just looking up Thomas's numbers. Not only did the Bruins make the playoffs in 09-10, but they made it to the 2nd round and lost in epic fashion to the Flyers. Thomas lost his job to Tuukka Rask that year, hence there being no numbers in his playoff statistics that year and making it appear that they missed out on the postseason

Fun fact, Oulun Karpat had 3 future NHL goalthenders in their roster during two season spawn, since they had Tim Thomas 2001-02 season and Niklas Backstrom on 2002-03 season. And during both seasons young Pekka Rinne played as backup or for junior team.

Tim Thomas will always hold a special place in my heart. Watching the Bruins in 2011 win the cup and Thomas’s amazing performance in the Finals made me want to play hockey in the goalie position. Shortly after they won the cup I got his jersey for my birthday and I also got a McFarlane figure of him. I don’t even know if I would be playing hockey as a goalie or hockey at all right now if it wasn’t for Tim Thomas. My number was originally going to be 30 but I switched it to 40 because he left just a few months before I picked my jersey number. I am starting high school next school year and I hope to wear the number 30 in high school. I remember playing NHL 09 as Thomas and how bad I wanted to go to a Bruins game and have seats right behind the net so I could sit as close as possible to him. (I never managed go to a game he played in) Someday I hope to meet Tim Thomas, although I don’t know where he is I hope to bump into him someday, somewhere.

Tim was considered the best goalie in the world at the height of his success. Unfortunately, he made some strange moves after that cup win. But he was getting older anyway. I never really liked him particularly, but he was phenomenal in that cup run and Boston will always have love for him since he was truly the MVP of that playoff series

In 2009-10, the Bruins actually did make the playoffs, but decided to play tuukka task in the playoffs, likely due to Thomas’ step back statistically. For reference, this was when they were reverse swept by the flyers in the second round. Just a minor fact check, great vid

Just a added note. In the 1997-98 season with HIFK. They did a have a somewhat stacked roster but Thomas still won the award for the best goalie in SM-Liiga. Also he played in each game in the 98 playoffs when HIFK won all 3 series 3-0 with 1.52 GAA in those 9 games (each series being best of 5). Next year they went to the finals, Thomas played all 11 games with 2.28 GAA but they lost to TPS who went on to win 3 championships in a row. Pointing those two out since you only had the regular season stats

To be honest, without watching any of this video... I will say that Timmy the Tank was late to the show. Poor guy never gave up and spent a lifetime trying to get into the NHL. Eventually he made it and won the best trophy there is... That itself, is a movie waiting to happen. Tim is special. Even though I hate the Bruins, I respect Timmy!!!

I know this is a few years old now, but the Bruins did make the playoffs in 09-10. Lost in 7 to the Flyers in the Conference semi final. Tuukka Rask was the starter at that point because of Thomas' drop in production.

Love Timmy, my favorite goalie all time. I played net and played the exact same style as Thomas. We weren't butterfly goalies and we werent cute. But we stopped the fuckin puck. As a die hard bruins fan I have never liked Tuuka Rask. It's no surprise that the one year we won the cup was done so the one year Tim Thomas replaced Rask as the starter. We've gone to the finals twice since and Rask just isnt a post season goalie . Last year he almost entirely wiped that out and wrote his own history story just like Thomas . One of the best goaltending performances I have ever seen all throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, it all caught up to him in game 7 of the cup finals and Rask looked like the old post season collapsing Rask. It was gut wrenching. I have always despised Rask. Always rooting for his backup. We have had two great backups between Khoudobin and Halak. I personally wish both had started over Rask and both would have done just as well if not better. Also we didnt not make the playoffs in 2010. We did and we were up 3 games in the flyers in the 2nd round and we completely folded in om ourselves and collapsed. Philly won the next 7 straight.
