She lost hope and went solo

This is rewriting history. She was kicked off the USWNT after a series of embarrassing incidents. A fight with her brother which included a court case for domestic violence. Her husband pulled over for drinking and driving a team van. She was put on a probationary period and passed without incident leading up to the 2015 World Cup, but leading up to the 2016 Olympics she tweeted out a bad joke about preparing for the Zika Virus in Brazil. She pissed off the Brazilian nation as a representative of the US delegation. She violated US Olympic team rules on how Americans are suppose to conduct themselves. She performed badly by her standards and was disrespectful to Team Sweden after they defeated the US in the quarter-finals. All of those things led to her termination from the team. She never bothered to fight for her spot back. She stopped playing professionally as well. I was a huge Hope Solo fan and I’m torn she’s not with the team now, but she became a PR liability the last two years she was with the national team. All of her former teammates who were also part of the equal pay lawsuit are still on the national team. I hope she goes into coaching or something.

She was basically one of the best keeps the sport has ever seen however as much talent she had she brought around the same amount of drama

Who knows what the real reason is for her being let go, but she was a damn goalie for the years she played with the national team

Hope was amazing in goal and so what about the drama. She brought publicity to the womens game. With out her no one talks about womens football outside of world cup and Olympic season. She should be on the team if she out performs the other keepers.

She is just crazy. She had a very bad attitude and personality. She made up stories for publicity and acted unsportsmanlike in front of the world. She used to be someone I looked up to in soccer when I played back in hs but now I have no desire to have her be a role model, unless it's a role model of what not to do.

You have Peter Schmichael, Manuel Neuer, Edwin Van Der Sar, Gianluigi Buffon, Hugo Lloris, Petr Cech, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Hedvig Lindahl, Nadine Angerer, ETC. Then you have Hope Solo, she owns the record books. While soccer may be a thing of the past for Hope Solo she definitely earns the #3 spot on my personal favorites under Peter Schmichael and Edwin Van Der Sar as they are two of the best goal keepers in Manchester United history.

She's a pretty bad person who has to have constant attention and will even lie to get it. She accused someone of physically abusing her and said there was a tape of it. When people asked to see the tape she stated it "disappeared". She got caught basically passed out in her car with her two kids in the backseat. Claimed she hadn't had a drink at all to the cops(which ended up being a lie) then proceeded to get arrested and talked smack to the cops the entire time. Her lawyer tried to suppress having the video released but the video ended up being released and all of the sudden Hope changed her entire story and came up with the most childish excuse for why that incident happened. She got kicked of the US soccer team because people - including her teammates- were simply done by all the drama Hope was constantly causing not because she was " standing up " for what she believes in

Equal pay between men and woman in soccer is stupid, equal pay between them in relation to their viewership is what we want though. Woman’s soccer will never have as much attention and viewers as men’s soccer and thus it will never be realistic for them to have equal pay but they should have equally pay in proportion to the amount of people watching...

I know she has made a few mistakes. But that doesn’t take away her capabilities as a goalie. You all might not agree, but she was a truly talented goalie. I love Harris and Naeher, but, as a kid and a goalie, I idolize Solo. And plus, she is doing a lot of equal rights stuff right now, and tackling issues. For example, she said the way club soccer is now, she would never have been able to play because her parents would not have been able to afford it. Idk about everyone else, but I’m absolutely lucky to be able to play club soccer. I’m lucky enough my parents make enough, because the price is absurd. Hopefully I can get a scholarship. But anyways, she recognizes how crazy the process is nowadays. She is and always will be a great goalie, my opinion. If you don’t agree then great, if you do, fabulous. 🇺🇸⚽️

Blah blah blah. Outside looking in. Yes the sport needs diversity, yes the women need better facilities, yes they need equity in pay. But this isn't going to get it. Only constant work and betterment of the women's overall soccer programs and support at the grassroots of the sport will get diversity. Legal action is need for the rest.
