you need a Brewster Buffalo the Finns loved them ! the engine & the tail on this kit drove me batty to get right, many Russian fighters were short in the fuselage but Polikarpov especially it made them a handful for novice aviators though the same could be said of the Sopwith Camel of W.W.1
hi @unclegargameldgargameld4888 oh yes have a Buffalo and about 25 other marked up Finnish kits plus 10 optional (decals required) i wanted to do one from each of the 7 nation manufacturers and TBh i just prefer the Hawk to the Buffalo. from the U.S, buffalo next time we visit the Finns in a few months.
@mikeholt5118 funny you mentioned that, i was reading the wiki page on this a couple of hours ago, if you look at the bottom under "surviving aircraft" it tells you how those noisy little beasts ended up in NZ.
Typical ICM aircraft kit, with complete engine. With that in mind, why not build it with the engine exposed? It would be a first for you, and it's always interesting to look into the guts of a model-gives people the impression you've constructed it from the nuts and bolts up🙂 As for Finnish decals, I believe SBS makes a set which you can get through Hannants.
Hello again @Rowan331 that would make sense and explain the complicate detailed engine, have done a similar ICM kit and i seem to remember that it was not an enjoyable experience LOl.
GOOD REVIEW ON A LITTLE KIT,BUILT ONE LONG AGO BY A DIFFERENT MAKER.CHINA USED THE MOHAWK AND RUSSIAN LITTLE FIGHTERS LIKE THE I-16 AND I-15. TAKE CARE
Might be worth your while doing a short video asking for our final votes and the end of the review of all the kits, and setting up and posting a poll on your YT channel to gather more votes. Or even asking us to choose 2 kits instead of just one. Then again, the second kit might be just your preference.
LOL no worries i suffer from techno-phobia, i have bought a new computer recently the old one is near dead, pressing the W resulted in wwwwwwwwwwww so i was thinking about dressing up in some outrageous PPE and taking my BIG axe to it, i wonder how many views that sort of lunacy would get PMSL.
Hello there @kimmorajala6844 and thanks for watching. Thanks i will check them out but have a few surplus decals, dont think this will win TBH so not too worried.
Hi Andy. I always thought that these aircraft must have been flown by midgits , it is so small. I think that the thing with the cowlings is so that you can have the bottom sections open or off to show off the engine. Why else would it have such a detailed engine ? This thing reminds me of one of those pylon racers from America , and considering that it has an American engine I think that we can see where it got its lineage from maybe , what do you think? I can't see that you will be spending to much time making it. There's nothing of it. I can't imagine thatbyou will have trouble finding decals for it. Its not like you haven't got enough Finnish markings. Good vid and good luck to ya bud
hi Brian it is a funny looking little thing but advanced for the 30's, the marking will probs come form a Finnish i-15 if it get picked for the build though this appears to be way down in the voting. no the engine will be mostly discarded i think as previous experience with an ICM Japanese kit was a nightmare.
Hey Andy. This is one I have built and the result was very good! But, it's TRICKY. If you don't want to display the engine, leave it out. It serves only to hold the exhaust pipes in place, and that's better done with scrap plastic. None of it is visible if the cowls are closed. In 1/72nd the engine can't be in scale and have the cowl panels fit, an obvious problem when you think about it.... in scale, they'd be 6 inches thick. The rest of the model goes together well and the detail is just lovely, exactly right for this little steampunk masterpiece.
i might leave the engine out when this comes to be built @lllordllloyd ,does look a bit fiddly, the last ICM i did was a bit of a mare but mainly because of the engine, doesnt look like it will win and so will be a problem for another day month or year LOL.
Tbh @georgeclements2742 it not one of my favorites aircraft, bit ugly, its way behind in the voting so not worried about having to build it anytime soon.
@@TheNoviceModeller I actually aw an original in st Petersburg in the early 2000s didn't know if it's was a real one or mock up . I loved the museums in Russia. Always wanted to go to the Kurile island to see the Japanese relics Would have gone last year but travel from Japan to Kuriles is forbidden By the Japanese government even when you go through china My girlfriend is Japanese so I would not be able to go back for about 20 years They are very serious about the Kuriles or Sakhalin
