Can I vote twice? 😇 Hawk still gets my vote. I've re-read Christopher Shores' Bloody Shambles recently and the fact the RAF were still using these in Burma as late as they were fascinates me. Not to mention the earlier, ill-fated NEI squadrons.
@VenlyssPnorr i have two youtube accounts, don't you? LOL. TBH i dont think i knew of this aircraft before i bought it (which is no big deal LOL) and i am afraid i have not done any due diligence research since then, i know, i know....... i am a ne'er do well.
Hi Andy. Another rather nice looking kit. Good detail and a simple build. I don't think that you will have much trouble with it. Good video. Good luck bud.
Looks like a fairly straightforward build (famous last words). I would use the spare fuselage for airbrushing practice - I certainly need it. Best wishes.
thanks @georgeclements2742 thats not a bad idea. Its actually an AZ originally, somebody else mentioned that they had heard the AZ of this doesnt go together that well so erm famous last words indeed LOL.
Hello there @michaelkeogh8454 and thanks for watching. Yes somebody asked about this kit the other day after the intro vid, said they had heard the AZ kit was not so good, i had never seen the Az kit so i looked at Scalemates and found that it IS an AZ also, wondering whether Az still make it. I suppose i could've mentioned it in the vid, but i normally only go look at this sort of thing for the pretty old kits and i pre record a lot of these vids, so things are not necessarily done in the order you see on the channel.
This one gets my vote. I think this looks based on the AML short-run kit (though I believe the tool was much improved, and indeed might be all-new). I built the AML as a French plane. Unfortunately a couple of the otherwise lovely decals broke up. While the combat record of the Hawk is... inconclusive?... is was a very light aircraft. Almost as much power as a P-40 with one less ton to drag around. In the right hands, against a 'peer' opponent... it should have done well and I think sometimes did. Surely better than a Buffalo, anyway.
thanks for your vote @lllordllloyd the hawk is now even steven with the Fiat, i also have the AML for this and have just had a peek at the sprues and they are different, my AML come with Free French so that'll probs be the way that one gets set up, TBH was not really aware of this plane (thats no big deal LOL) before i picked it up for this project.
@@TheNoviceModeller My introduction to the existence of the Hawk, and indeed the Finnish Air Force, was buying the bagged (Frog? Revell?) kit at the newsagent shop in the 70s. Ninety-nine Australian cents. Oh, I'm so old.
I don't think Vichy France had no hawk 75 s in Indochina MS406 the Thais operated hawks but they were older aircraft with the same name With fixed undercarriage..
Andy, I have 2 Curtiss P-36-A's from Monogram from their Mini Masterpiece logo in 1/72 if you want them, no charge (decals are missing but they were usa anyway) use reply and I'll send my e-mail Dane
Hi Dane, really? well that's very nice of you, but only if you are sure you have no use for them. Sure i can do a bit of research and find some decals to put on them, possibly something a bit exotic as they went all over the place, or use the spares from this kit if they are applicable, my youtube email is at the bottom so if you email me i will send you my address. thanks so much. best regards andy be seeing you. novicemodelling@gmail.com
