So I'm not sure whether I am having a midlife crisis, but after watching some excellent model makers plying their trade on RU-vid I have decided to get in on the action. My RU-vid experience is nil, my model making experience is based on a rather large Airfix 1/72 air group and an Airfix 1/600 fleet constructed when i was 12-14. I also constructed a small group of 1/35 Tamiya Africa Korps (which i still have) when i was made redundant aged 27, that's 20 years ago; so I am pretty much starting from scratch. My intention is to try to get to grips with model making, and the various painting techniques by building 1/72 Spitfires, I have a over 40 of these now. I shall then progress on to the reconstruction of my air group and naval fleet circa 1988, and then I will start on a rather large 1/35 8th Army/Afrika Korps diorama that i have planned, which I am currently acquiring kits to complete.
