Review of the Lumix FZ2500 features I found are missing and the ones I like with a comparison to the Sony RX10 iii. These are hybrid and super zoom 4K cameras.

You don't need the red record button for video, you can use the mode selector and turn it to movie. Now you can start the video with the shutter button.

Well done video, especially since many people do not have access to a real camera shop to touch/feel and handle the different models. I'm big on ergonomics, button layout, and how the camera feels in hand and you covered it well.

Good critical view! John, use the shutter button for record videos. You are right, the display is one of the important things at this camera, especially when shooting macros on the ground. What is really missing on this camera is 4K 50 / 60fps. With all the other things you can live ;-)

Thank you John. I'm 67 and retired one year ago. About to retire my 10 year old Panasonic FZ28 and am looking for a replacement. The Sony RXIV is about as close as I can find to this camera and am almost ready to pull the trigger on it, but think I will will wait for the Upgrade to the FZ2500 as we are 3 years into the model before I make my final decisions. I just read all the comments to your video and filtered out the negative comments about not knowing you could do this or that and chalked that up to learning experience. I just bought a new riding mower and am still learning as I go. In fact I'm giving away my old FZ28 camera and learned some new things about it after owning it for 10 years, so shame on me, but at least I recognize I still have things to learn at my age. So, I'm still waiting on the new FZ2500 newer version, but think the current version would make me very happy. Any tweaks they make to it, would be noting but pure gravy to me. I put aside the money needed to purchase it from my "After Retirement Bonus" I received from my old company. I'm pretty excited and hope they release the newer version soon. I can hardly wait. It will be such a joy. I thank you for making this video. I mostly pictures, but I edit mostly video. I would be so glad to edit something this good vs doing old archaic video restoration projects which usually take 4 hours for 10 minutes on the timeline., I would like to change that to 1 minute on the timeline for a 10 minute clip. I'm getting older and time counts more for me than the millennial's. God is Blessing you John. More than you know - Kitt Prible

John, If you happen to hear any news on the upcoming model for the FZ2500 which maybe called the FZ2500 II or the FZ2500M2 as they have done with the FZ1000 model, please let all your viewers know. Again, I am almost ready to pull the trigger on purchasing this model but since I think I am so close to the new release, I'm reluctantly willing to wait for the new model. I know chasing technology is an endless task, but at least I may feel good for 2-3 years before the next upgrade. I love upgrades. I worked in IT before retiring and loved to make existing programs run either better or faster than they did before the upgrade. In my 35 years, I only regretted one upgrade I did, but got it patched 1 hr after the release and all was well or in my view - better than before the new release.

If you shoot in movie mode you can use the regular shutter button to start and stop your video. You also forgot to mention that unlike the sony, panasonic has a touch screen.

Got to agree on the screen. I like the Panasonic flip out and twist style. It's a big reason I didn't buy the A6000. I like to turn my screen round and throw the camera in my bag I don't want to have the opportunity of scratching it.

@JohnAvantiBK
@JohnAvantiBK 6 лет назад
You will use the flip screen allotwhen the camera is stationary or your shooting stills. If you intend on shooting wildlife video or action you will loose tracking with the LCD screen. Using the EVF will allow you to track your subjects and preserve battery life in the field.

Hello and thank you for your presentation of the LUMIX FZ 2500. I just bought this camera and made the same reflection as you: Too bad there is not a Grip to put 2 batteries. And then I realized that the battery of the FZ 2500 (DMW-BLC12E) is the same as on the GH2. Now, there are Battery Grip for the GH2. Do you think they can be used with the FZ 2500? Thank you for your answer and your future films and advice. David.

The record button is no problem for me - probably because I'm already used to it. Spending the first 4+ minutes complaining about it is, I think, a little bit obsessive. Now, I think you have every right to bring this up for those it might find this an issue. And, by the way, you can use AC power with an adapter you can buy through Panasonic's website.

Bill Durling Most people shoot outdoors with these super zoom cameras and in 4k battery life will be depleted. The video record button should be more accessible and not resessed.

AX33 or Lumix FZ2500 for Interview Videos with Fast Focus ?
@JohnAvantiBK
@JohnAvantiBK 6 лет назад
The AX33 and the FZ2500 has face detection and will keep focus. The FZ2500 has a 1" sensor vs a 1/2.3" The Lumix will be a better choice for an all around camera with better quality then the Sony AX33.

I m using Panasonic G7 but the AutoFocus is vey bad
@JohnAvantiBK
@JohnAvantiBK 6 лет назад
Teh Panasonic or Lumix G7 is designed to be a still camera, the AF system is geared for stills. Check your setting. I have a Canon 5D mark 2 and the AF on it is not suitable for video or fast paced photography it is a Still, camera. The FZ2500 is set up to shoot video and stills.

Do you recommend the upcoming RX10 IV and A7 III as my first camera, who is those 2 cameras for?
@JohnAvantiBK
@JohnAvantiBK 7 лет назад
Sony has not made any announcements for an up coming RX10 IV, if it does emerge it will have some minor up dates. Like a faster buffer, updated sensor, quieter zoom motor, f/2.8 at all zoom lengths, maybe a battery grip :), better battery life, etc. A7 is a good camera and has good reviews. Buying a camera depends on your shooting and how much shooting you do. Sony is still trying to recover on the the RX10 iii and it may be 2 more years before we see an RX10 IV... Thank you for watching.

Franco Vision I want to buy for experience pure manual shooting/auto sometime, landscape, bird, street, videos, general use and so on. A lot people recommend me to get an interchangeable lens camera as first camera, I didn't like A6XXX series so only choice is A7 lineup which I like, I will get a Zeiss Loxia 35mm f2 or the upcoming Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 mechanical manual lens as my only lens to shoot street photography and general use, but i like the fact that RX10 III is so portable for the zoom range of the range and you can do so much with just one camera, like shoot moon, bird, travel and so on but it's not wide enough after the 24mm * 2 = 48mm of full frame equivalent. And small sensor which mean the picture will be flatter. At first I was considering to get RX10 + RX100 as a combo but then after some people recommend me, seem like interchangeable system is better for long term, and my phone can be the pocketable camera as well. I also like to get a Fuji X100F(because Leica M is too expensive for now) for the ultimate street photography, it has rangefinder experiences and the dials which mean I can enjoy the purest manual experiences and old style of photography, I also want to get a camcorder because since many years ago I wanted to own a camcorder so I can go anywhere which a small camera that I can record everything I want, and limitless record time and camcorder form factor is good for my use + Sony AXP55 has night vision! But for now, for future proof and long term investment reasons, I guess I will go with one camera solution for now, which is A7 III, and only later see if I can earn more then will consider to get the camcorder or the X100 series!

The RX10 iii has a fantastic reach and it is great for wild life having a 1" sensor. Shooting manual during nature photography will result in allot of missed shots, trying to find the right exposure for the subject in the changing light. A Hybrid like the Lumix FZ 2500 and the Sony RX10 iii, will work better shooting wild life. The FZ2500 allows you to focus on your subject manually where the RX10 iii does not. For wild life photography focus is the critical option to look for in a camera. Like the Canon 80D would be a better choice over the Sony A7. The 80D has a much more lens selection and battery grip and are less money. The difference in image quality is minor. You have to blow them up to a blur to see a difference. They will both print great up to 20x40s or better. Its all about focus and a steady shoot first the rest is second...

The FZ2500 has 4k to emphasize the video quality from a 1" censor. To have a video button in a hard to reach pleace makes no sense.

Carl - The first bird in the video, the small yellow bird in among the leaves, is an adult male Yellow Warbler in breeding plumage. The second bird in the video, which is a yellow-orange color and is among tree branches, is an adult male Baltimore Oriole. Baltimore Orioles have also been called Northern Orioles.

Thanks for the great video, you sound like a New Yorker. I have a question about the sensor size, it's advertised that the 2500 has a 1" sensor. The actual dimension of the sensor is 13.2mm X 8.8mm. and there is 25mm in an inch. And if they add the L plus W it equals to 22mm and not 25mm. My Sony R1 Bridge camera is 12 years old and the sensor size is 21.5mm X 14.4mm which equals to 35.9mm. This means that my 12 yr. old Sony's sensor is about 60% larger than the FZ 2500 sensor. So my point is, all this hype about the 2500's sensor size is really no big deal, sounds like it's an advertising gimmick. What are your thoughts about this???
@JohnAvantiBK
@JohnAvantiBK 7 лет назад
Carlos Thomas 1" is a name given to round off the actual sensor. Nikon and Canon have different size APSC sensors and the industry still refers them as APSC. Sensor size does mater and for these compact hybrid zoom .ca.eras having a 1" sensor is a good thing for still photos and video quality. That's why they are so expensive. The Sony chips are worth more due to the higher demand and advertising verses the Panasonic chips. Thank you.

Are you located in New York? Your voice and mannerisms seem like your auditing for "The Godfather" I know you can change the way you talk, but you could back off on the tough guy sound. You should have a structured written down talk your going to present not just what comes to mind. More photos and more video to show viewers what they are here to find out. There are tons of videos telling abou the camera but like they say" a picture is worth a thousand words" . Maybe try sticking to that point of view instead of just ramdom spouting off things you don't and do like about the camera. Mention, show, mention , show.
