The FZ2500 is surprisingly still a great camera in 2019 

I have one too. No it isn't the perfect camera, but is close. I really like mine. I also have an a6000, which is slightly better in stills image quality. But I LIKE the FZ2500 more. More fun to use. More features. Not too expensive. Nice camera!

Nice video! I recently bought one of these used. I have been really impressed so far. Great video quality and decent stills. I had an FZ1000 a while back and I was surprised by the weight difference. It really is not a small camera.

Hi Michael just wanted to correct that you can infact shoot 120fps in full hd with the fz2500 the modes you use to achieve this are mov, avchd, and mp4(lpcm) mode. The only mode that doesn't offer variable frame rates is standard mp4. I have this camera also and love it so many features for video.

If you count the 5 soft function buttons on the right edge of the back monitor the Fz2500 has 12 function buttons. For going on 3 years I've been ongoingly discovering new features of this camera. I would suggest an excellent reference source ; Alexander S. White's book on the Fz2500. ( got mine on Amazon ) I've found the Fz to be a near perfect camera to have while learning how to shoot. ( I do mainly stills ) I hope Panasonic will shortly be coming out with a new updated - Fz 3000 ? . When I look down into my lens I can see some dust particles so I hope there is improved ' weather sealing ' on the new " FZ " . I've had to turn off the ' touch to focus ' because my nose makes contact with the monitor screen. Make an accessory eye cup one can buy to remedy this. Also add in camera battery charging so one can charge while driving in the car on a long trip. Incorporate from the G9 6 k recording so one can get 18 mp images from post focus & stacking. I better stop here - don't want to push my luck.

Hi Michael, I run an independent news org. I am interested in buying a run and gun camcorder for news guttering. I am checking out the canon xf400 or the canon xa15. The only reason I didn’t got the xa15 is because it has no dualpxel AF. However the the xf 400 is a bit out of my budget. Do you know how good is the AF system of the Canon XA15 insipid of not having dual pixel AF? My cam operator which is mostly me, is not grate in keeping ak manually. The other think is that for the price of the XF400, I can buy 2 XA15

Have you been able to color match FZ2500 video with JVC LS300 video, especially when using the respective LOG profiles?

Michael, I appreciate your videos. They're very informative. I'm considering this camera for recording theatrical performances, which can, at times, involve fairly low light situations. I'm trying to decide between the FZ2500 and a camcorder like the Panasonic HC-WXF1, which is said to have decent low light capabilities. The HC-WXF1 has a smaller sensor, but faster lens. I like the camcorder form factor, which would be good if I need to handhold the camera, especially with one hand (I foresee keeping the camera mostly on a tripod, with occasionally handholding it). What do you think would be better for recording these kinds of events? Thanks!
