Black Metal Werewolf (The RU-vid Channel) is definitely in the category of I listen to real underground music and he lists off stuff like Mayhem, Dying Fetus, Cradle of Filth, and Darkthrone as being obscure and underground. He has a very surface level understanding of metal (is unaware of the influence punk had on the genre) and just thinks that because we listen to metal then we automatically want to be Vikings. On the other hand I did see him mention Slaughter (The Canadian Death/Thrash Band) so he does know some underground shit but you would think by now he would know of shit like Crucifier, Necrovore, Imprecation, Nunslaughter, and Grand Belials Key but he doesn't and this guy has been around for a long ass time. I just can't fathom how someone can just stick to listening to the same 10 bands they got into during their newbie stage and not move on to the more obscure and underground stuff.
Theres too much music out there, not enough hours in a day and years in a lifetime to listen to it all. Even Jdawg who runs a distro hasnt heard of every metal band. With that said there are def staples of specific genres, i.e if you claim to like death metal it should be a given you know of immolation, deicide, bolt thrower etc. Likewise if you claim to be into the underground, you should know atleast 1 of the bands you mentioned.
A comment for the Dawg. I just came into possession of a original pressing of the Tish's Zombie Apocalypse album. I also have the ZP album with the 2004 Relapse reissue on the same disc with Hacked Up For Barbecue. The OG Zombie Apocalypse press has 2 cover tracks the reissue doesn't have, being Slaughter's Fuck Of death and Repulsion: Horrified. And no shit! I just now noticed they misspelled barbecue on the front album cover and on the spine. There's a Q where the C should be. Anyway figured you would like hearing about some Tish support. C'mon Will! We need that long awaited new album brah! Brah!
Altars, though Screams rocks too. Sound quality-wise "The Ultimate Edition" of Altars of Madness definitely lives up to it's name. It's a buy or die brah! \m/

Hey J-Dawg what are your thoughts on Iniquity's Serenadium? That was the metal album that really clicked for me and without it I definitely wouldn't be able to handle stuff like Mortician, Regurgitation, Katharsis, Blasphemy, Eternal Suffering etc.
I was confused when J Dawg said that about camo shorts. I've always associated it with Death Metal, especially the Floridian stuff, like Obituary. If I lived in Florida I definitely wouldn't fuckin be wearing black trousers! Camo shorts fit the bill especially with bullet belts \m/
all my gym shorts used to be camo shorts of different colors, even got a new one now. for swiming. pretty much every shirt i paired with them was plain athletic gear (which is rare to find printed) or band/horror shirts. tbh i dont know if the store sold matching tops. the orange one would have caught my attention

You don't like poetic lyrics Justin? I personally think they give the music more substance and gives it more intellect when the band writes lyrics that are poetic yet also dark and evil which is why I like the lyrics Immolation and Incantation have as well as the lyrics for the first two Rotting Christ Albums, first two Varathron albums, and first 2 Necromantia albums. To me it makes the lyrics more interesting. I also like lyrics that are more direct and confrontational as well such as the first Impaled Nazarene album, Profanatica, and Grand Belials Key. Lyrics that combine overt blasphemy with sexual perversion and that are over the top like the previous bands I mention are something that I really like.
i grew up during that era an I would find the even the slayer people were that border , forget dying fetus. I didnt know anyone know them tho. I suppose I stopped hearing what the masses listen to when I stopped going to school.

The shirt is cool minus the band logo. The logo looks like someone wrote something and then scribbled over it. I feel the same about the Blood Incantation logo and the SBog logo. I personally dismiss bands with logos like those. What is extreme about not being able to read a logo?

I'm a weird one bra bra. I'm a Christian who actually listens to AND enjoys bands like Deicide. Sure I could be a total canoe and act all butthurt but I look at it this way. To me, their songs are little horror flicks like Cannibal or Death or Mortician. I'm secure in what I believe that I'm not going to force it onto any dude. A jam's a jam.

I even go on recommend beginner into metal bands like Accept, W.A.S.P, Overkill, Metal Church, Celtic Frost, Venom, Armored Saint, and then he wants to ask me about other bands that he doesn't know about like Morbid Saint, Nunslaughter, Spiter, Midnight, Hellcrash, and a shitload more, but then he wants to talk about Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. At this point, I don't even bring up music anymore to him, and yet he's part owner of a record store that is locally owned. Fuckin POOOOOOOSER.

It’s a toss up. Obituary was arguably more influential early on but these days Deicide is household as fuck for death metal. Possessed is like Exodus. Kinda the first to get the ball rolling but left in the dust by the more commercially successful bands

I actually like the other Terry Glaze albums, just not Metal Magic it's mega-cringe in all respects and has terrible production. For 80's Tera I'm more into Power Metal - even if it has the most generic album title of all time.
