Elizabeth Anderson the reason why she aborted her kids was because sinatra’s own children didn’t want any siblings and she thouth that she didn’t have a future with him anymore
@@artemissaerom9278 Bullshit. Ava didn't want kids, period. She made that clear in all of the subsequent interviews on the subject, and her biography. She could have afforded kids (she didn't need "a future" with Sinatra or any other man; she had plenty of money to raise children) she just didn't want to be a mother, and because she was an atheist, saw no barriers to abortion. Nothing wrong with that, but her multiple abortions were not driven by financial needs in regards to raising kids.
@G Galeno I wasn't partial to Elizabeth Taylor until I started really watching RU-vid's of her. True she didn't have the long legs but she had a very feminine figure. And her face is absolutely beautiful. I had to admit it. Rita Hayworth was beautiful also. Ava too!
I sent Ms. Gardner an autograph request for me and my mother in the 80's and shortly thereafter received two gorgeous 8 x 10 signed stills postmarked from her home in London. She'll always be A-One in my book!
Ava is so undeniably sultry, warm and vibrant. You can tell she's conscious of the cameras and working them like the basic tools of her trade. No wonder men are easily attracted to her. There are so many levels to her persona that are captured here - so much mystique.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record here, Ava Gardener is truly one of the most stunning women I have ever seen. I really wish the Hollywood stars today could all share her inner & outer beauty. Honestly, if there were more celebrities like Miss Gardener, today's pop culture and society would be far less trashy and awful.
Ava Gardner was one of the most beautiful woman of that time period and without a doubt in this time period. I just love her voice! It is so sweet and it fits her personality very well.I think that Ava should be remembered more today because she had so much class and talent. There was and never will be another Ava Gardner.
+audrey hepburn I doubt the real Audrey Hepburn would ever have spoken so insultingly and disparagingly about anyone she had not met. Or in fact about anyone at all. Perhaps that's not a very appropriate username, hmm?
It's a shame that we have no interviews of hers to watch. She was notoriously private and hated doing press especially when she moved to Spain and London. But it would have been great to hear her speak. All we have are press clips and gifs.
Rex Reed did a book of interviews called "Do you Sleep in the Nude?" in the late 60s. I read it and it contains his recounting of an interview with Ava Gardner, as well as Streisand and numerous others. Ava's was an amusing interview and contains Ava's supposed comment on Sinatra's marriage to Mia Farrow: "I always knew Frank would end up in bed with a boy." It might still be in your local library.
@@phillypayton9830 Because Mia Farrow wore a very short almost masculine haircut at the time and looked very boyish, without the feminine curves Sinatra usually liked in his women.
Nah they simply put on a better front due to the studios basically doing hardcore pr/ extreme control and having no paps around . Ava was messy af . Prone to drinking , fighting, promiscuity , foul language and generally very libertine and idgaf . Not to mention a mediocre actress although a stunning beauty . This is just romanticization of the past . They just faked it better back then . Behind the scenes they were just as bad or even worse.
What a gentle, sensitive, and delicate person. Ava Gardner was a very talented actress. It was said that she was a very shy, extremely shy person (like Rita Hayworth) and that must have made things difficult for her in Hollywood where there was so much stiff competition. She was absolute beautiful, like a sculpture of Da Vinci. How people can tell derrogatory comments about her? It is a shame! It's pretty hard to please everybody in this world and she did not try. She was surrounded by envyness.
Well from people who knew her say she wasn't a shy or a delicate person. She smoked like many people from NC, she drank some, and cussed like a sailor, but she was also very nice and very loyal and very down to earth. She died at age 67, and had 2 strokes from the drinking and smoking, my guess. I recently visited her grave in Smithfield NC, nit far from I 95. Her grave had fresh flowers and one other person was there when I arrived. She herself didn't think she was a good actress, but in my view and many others, thought she was a very good actress.
This clip clearly shows that Ava's breathtaking beauty was no exaggeration. I've tried to duplicate that wonderful breathy voice of hers and failed dismally! Not only was she gorgeous and independant, but she was far more talented than she believed herself to be as an actress. Love Bennett Cerf!
Hot damn! Often overlooked today as one of the most stunningly beautiful woman in the world. Though you can be sure, if she was coming through today everyone would fall under her spell.
Ava Gardner was one of the most GORGEOUS women to have ever walked the face of this earth !!! I have become a big fan in recent years & just think she is STUNNING ,what a gal !!! They don't make em' like that anymore folks.
Keep in mind that in this era you would normally only see these famous stars at the local theaters. TV was rare for some to even dare make cameos until it really took off in popularity. Ava was a true star in every sense of the word!
dettigs Can you believe it, a little squirt like Rooney fucking a virgin in the shape of Ava Gardner? He seduced an innocent virgin with his fame, and my lord, got pissed on his wedding night and left her gasping, her meetings with the Hollywood set transformed her from a sweet Grabtown girl into a bitter, de-sensitised woman, and she know it.
Ava Gardner... Another glamorous diva... Her squarish face... Unforgettable! I liked the way she answered the questions... And her feminine laugh too... :)
Ava Gardner is one of the most beautiful actresses of that time period and without a doubt of this time period. I just love her voice! It is so sweet and it fits her personality very well. I think that she deserves to be remembered today because she had so much class and beauty.People have changed so much in very bad ways in my opinion.
Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Vivien Leigh are hands down the most beautiful women in the world. If ANY one of them were alive today in their prime they would still be the most beautiful women in Hollywood.
As I was watching this, I thought...wow, what incredible class that people in general had, not just this gorgeous woman. I'm a Sinatra fan, and of course, that made me want to delve more into his life, and Ava Gardner...such an interesting love story. It made me want for the good old days, even though I wasn't around then. Thanks SO much for uploading this video!
I guess it was the training on manners and how to comport oneself at the MGM School that made for these classy movie stars. However, while some are trashier these days, you get to see their real natures quickly.
@Michael Terrell II pretty sure you're just looking at things through rose-tinted glasses... Also I think you meant to write "Hollywood" and not comics.
No offence to her many contemporaries who happen to be stunning, as well, eg. ; Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Grace Kelly, Tippi Hedren, Kim Novak, etc, etc, etc.. but, when I think about the most beautiful woman of her era (or of any era at all) , it's always Ava Gardner who come to my mind. Thank you for posting.
just returned from the Ava Gardner film festival in Smithfield, NC....The first time I had been to the museum and I am an NC girl. It is quite impressive...Got to visit the home she was born in and then a visit to her grave...She and Marilyn were the most beautiful to ever appear on screen...NO comparison....She was perfection !!
I remember what one of the old Hollywood elite, the remnants of the great studio systems said to me about her " people just gasped out loud when seeing her for the first time" she was just that beautiful and in old Hollywood that is something big.
Fascinating to see the lady as herself. Some comment here that she clearly knows she is beautiful - well, she is beautiful and she'd be pretty stupid if she didn't know it! Why should good looking women be meek, modest and insipid? Ava was a firecracker and the only woman Frank could never tame, she drove him crazy. I read that she fell pregnant twice during the marriage but didn't go ahead with the pregnancies because, in her words: "Frank and I couldn't look after ourselves, let alone another human being". Two amazing people who were powerfully attracted to each other but fundamentally incompatible - still, the marriage lasted 6 years and Ava said Frank never cheated on her - though it seems Ava ran around a bit on him. They just don't make stars like this any more!
My parents always told me that Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth were true beauties. Wow, was that ever an understatement!! They were goddesses. Amazing that they walked among us mere mortals......
When Ms Frances asks Ava if she is married and Ava says yes. Ms Frances's next question, "are you glad?" Take a look at Ava's expression at 3:13 That expression says it all.
I've watched a lot of these now (many thanks to the upoaders!) but my personal favourites in terms of beauty, charm and sense of fun are Ava, Gene Tienrey and Hedy Lammar, The words 'the they don't make 'em like that any more' could have been coined for these three wonderful women. Oh! And Linda Darnell and Debbie Reynolds. These were good times indeed...!
Oh, the awkward pause after Arlene asked "Are you glad (you're married)?" Frank and Ava had a relationship that was passionate in every definition of the word. This was about one year into their marriage, and they'd already ruined several sets of fine china during their jealous clashes. He adored her until his dying day. She loved and derided him in equal measure, and later said "he was the love of my life." It's said that Frank paid for her medical bills when she was dying and broke, and that she knew he did so without having to be told who did it.
Frank was a Class Act, too! I was told over again he and Ava was in a private group 'Secret Santa' along with Loretta Young, Dean Martin, Pola Negri, Mae West, Lloyd Bridges, Charlie Chaplin, Robert Mitchum, and Howard Hughes.
I am a North Carolina, Girl, myself, I just saw the WML show!!! All I can say is Ava Gardner......was stunning!!! Beautiful, graceful, perfect in every way!!! Oh, I forgot , sensual and sexy too!!!
