We're checking back in with Carbide Create V7 and what's changed since the last video. For this video we will be looking at build 756. There's one I am super excited for, but first we will start off with an overview of some of the other new features in the Design & Toolpaths tabs, the current state of generating G-code in the free version, & the big one being the STL Import for Pro. We will walk thru the import and generating toolpaths, so you can try it out.

Carbide Create dropped the ball. It was my "go to" but as of this "change" I use Carveco Maker Plus only.

That tapered ball mill that you use- I have a tapered ball mill but I don't know how to enter odd shaped tool bits into the database. Do you have a video of this. It seems no one is making that kind of video.

Hi @iwannaapple I sorry yt put your comment in the spam. CC does not have a way to enter them. So I think for this I either set it as a vbit or ballnose. I do not have a video on that, but might be able to put one together down the road.

@@D.E.Hammer **IMPORTANT PLEASE READ EVERYTHING** Yes they do. You just have to find it but you can. In fact you have to make your own spreadsheet. Here is how... I have a MacBook but it might be similar for windows. Open program go to Carbide create (at the top)> about carbide create> Open Data directory>Carbide create> Tools. In the tools folder is nothing. This is where you save a .csv file that contains your bits. All that is is a spreadsheet saved with the .csv extension. You can make your own under the same headings (bit size, step over, and all that good stuff) as CC or you can get a pre-made .csv from IDCwoodcraft like I did. As far as naming the file - CC uses "+" as a connector (MAC VERSION ONLY). So when naming the file do this....someNAme+someName+someName.csv experiment with it and close out CC and then reopen. Your tools are now selectable! Learn how to do this and make a video on it. By the way, instead of choosing the tool folder, if you choose the library folder, this is where you keep all your .svg's in separate folders of course. The folder name will show when you open up the library to find .svg's. Now you can store all your .svg's and have it show in the library window along with all the default .svg's! This is very handy! So in conclusion to wrap it up, CC did not write the programming to add to the database through the program itself BUT they did write the code in such way that if you follow the above instructions it WILL work. For example, make a spreadsheet. An empty spreadsheet with nothing on it. Save as This+Is+atest.csv and save it in the tools folder of Carbide Create(You can get to these without opening CC). Now when you open CC and go into the edit tool menu you will see "This-is-aTest" in the list. Don't have enough typing time to explain how to get "Ball mill. V-bit....list arrows. You just have to experiment with it and you will see. No one makes a video on this. You will be the only one. If you don't, I will! But I think you will do better. Additionally for your info. Apple made the MacBook not display all folders so they are not all visible. This affects how many folders CC is able to show you. Find the one line code (on the internet) to enter into Terminal (just have to do it once) and MacBook will show you ALL folders. Once this is done, now you can find and open carbide 3d tool .csv and see how they did it (or you can just add to it) OR you can do it the easy way by using "New library" in the Select tool dialogue box or Duplicate library. Both of those will create a .csv file in the tool folder in the background and you can change and edit each tool using the dialogue boxes they provide. I found this confusing myself cause I am a dummy I guess but it can be done? When I downloaded the IDCwoodcraft .csv I didn't know where to put the spreadsheet. Once I figured it goes in the tools folder CC displayed it once I closed and reopened the program. I can enter tool bit info using the same columns in the spreadsheet that was provided BUT I actually don't know how to enter odd shaped bits like for example an 1 1/2 inch tapered 10 degree ball mill???? I was hoping to get someone onboard with that so I can watch the video. I don't have time to figure that out. All this explaining was to give you a head start so I can watch you do it please. As far as asking the IDC RU-vid guy, I did. He doesn't have a MacBook and couldn't tell me OR doesn't realize the value in making that kind of video. As far as I see it, your the only one left that can do a good job. This is VALUABLE info that us people need to watch and this would make a very popular video!!!!!!!!

Can you use v7 to design and save and then open with v6 to generate code?
@D.E.Hammer

Yes, at least in Pro under File there is a save as V6 Option. Any new features used will not transfer over. You can also create a CC account on their website and convert it to gcode there.
