I gotta say Buckin, I get a big kick outta watching you get so excited about a wooden handle. It just completely makes my day! I get you man. When I was 13 my dad gave me an old broken stocked shotgun. Two years later after scaring myself trying to shoot the dang thing I got determined!! You better believe it I found a nice walnut round about 14 inches in diameter. With a chainsaw and a draw knife I carved out a nice solid butt stock. Yeah it had flaws , but I did it with my own two hands. I was proud and have loved loved working with wood ever since. That's my story and why I get such a kick. Mr. Buckin, I can indeed relate to the max with you brother.
Georgious handles and wow some dandy heads. Nice work Hicks Hickory. Love it. Thank you Buckin for the knowledge shared on heart wood. Love ya brother. 🌲❤️🌲👊🪓
Has anyone else been in a down mood and then go look at their axe collection and just completely change there mood from the different qualities and styles of axes there is, or just the abundance you've created for yourself. It's happened to me a couple of times
Those are sick handles Buckin’. I gotta try to find one of those French curves for a plumb I have. Hope all is well brother!! Love to you and the family!!
I love how buckin can reach out to everyone with a positive message and it doesn’t matter race, sex, religion, age or location and everyone listens and agrees.
You have a lot of heart in you too Buckin....it don't bother me at all... it is good to have heart! Love you brother and I love the passion you have for the things you love doing. It finds its way into all of us Billy Ray!
Nice axe Buckin , looks like a Northern Ontario Special ! Great to hear the weight loss is working , I always get a splitting high , the endorphines after a good spotting session !
Man you have to be the best example of a great person. You are just so positive it’s contagious. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I bet you give the best hugs
hear about the 100 yr old guy being interviewed for a magazine? reporter sees an old ax sittin in a chopping stump, asks the guy about it guy says he got it for his 10th birthday. its had 2 new heads and 5 new handles, bur except for that it is exactly the same !!!
Man I used to be tree worker i love a are made from you. Been a fan for so long and I was diagnosed with sclerosing mesenteritis a rare disease. I like to have one .
i really like to come home and just watch how much passion ,love and really just all around the great healing this man radiates and as a man who lives the same way as a healing man i must say even though it means nothing and will most likely not be seen but i just want to say keep up the great work as always you help me and really give me the life that i need and it reminds me that we all will one day make a difference and i just hope to be able to reciprocate the wellbeing and love. most of all i hope that the people will be able to learn and understand how everything we do makes a difference and we can live in paradise or we could live in prison its all up to each and everyone of us!
Great info Buckn'. I learn a lot wathcing your videos. Please uplaod a video hafting an axe with one of East Coast Lumberjack's handles, I'm dying to see how you like them.
Hey Buckin! Hope you have a great day! I have an idea for a video i would like you to do sometime in the future. What about making a comparison on handles from different companies (e.g. Whiskey River, Killinger, Liam Hoffman, Keen Timber & Tool, etc.)? Maybe what you think each of the company's handle characteristics, strengths and handle types.
That is one beautiful axe. Holy smokes buckin'. Beats the heck out of those Chinese junkers at tractor supply or Atwoods. Want and need one so badly!!!
What about iron wood , would it’s make good axe handle . I don’t know , I hear it’s very strong wood . Don’t have it’s on rock , little bit in Nova Scotia. Ontario got all kinds .
Funny I find myself talking to myself when I'm out in the garage working on a saw or axe much like you talk to the community but it's just me lol. Probly not something I should say but reminds me of ole buckin.
Boy do I love a good axe, to bad I don't have one! I have some basic box store axes, dull and bad handle. I've tried making a good axe, and getting my hand on some nice vintage Plumb axes. Of course no luck. Would be nice to see a full process axe making video in the future!
Hey Buckin, Norm here from Ontario. I absolutely love blades and like you, I adore axes. My collection is steadily growing and I use them all regularly. None of this pristine, showmanship crap! These axes get used BIG TIME, especially by my Scouts when out in the bush. Accidents happen and several of the handles need to be replaced. I recently received 2 replacement Grandfors Bruks small forest axe handles. But, I noticed that in both cases the kerf started out straight, then veered down either to the left or the right. Is this acceptable? Especially from a premium axe making Swedish company. Friend, I am somewhat pissed off and of course hestitant to use the these handles for a re-hang. Would really appreciate your opinion. Thanks a bunch, eh!
Hap-E Cake Day, Billy Ray Love It Up Ya Deserve This Day ! Love Your Thoughts On These Handles, Hay Newb's Hi Blues ! Prayers For All Here ! ATB T God Bless
Hay bucken my friend, what kind of axe was that around 1:46 into video? The black one with the round punch marking. I have one just like it with the same mark and having trouble identifying it. Love all your videos I watch every day.
Hehe, I ordered a cruiser, and a boy's axe handle from Josh, and I can't speak to those either, because he never sent them. 🤔Brandon has a half a dozen or so on the way, but the ones I really want are not in stock at this time. Do ya think the red elm handles from Killinger are appropriate for conditions in the northwest?
Bucking weird question.. should I sharpen my splitting mauls to a “razor” edge or leave them kinda blunt? Splitting oak, hickory, ash, locus, cherry, walnut and some pine
Razor sharp edge will just fold over, sharp always better but a good profile axe for splitting works just as good without having to swing a heavy maul. Have you given it a try? It’s can take some looking but I’ve found some nice profile heads on eBay one problem I find is no one takes good picture of the profile on most of the posts it would make it so much easier. I search vintage axe heads and grabbed handles from killinger. Sounds like you have some nice wood to get after cheers.
Hey Buckin have you had a Helko- Werks Tasmania competition axe in your hands ever ? The pattern looks to be just like all these Tazi’s you have been hanging ! Your thoughts ?
@@tazman-kennyfuller Hey I'd love to send him a belated birthday present. Do you know how to go about getting a shipping address. Would I contact Christine?
Hey buckin, your a great guy and I love all the positivity in your life. Do you ever have daily struggles with wife or kids? Stupid question. But maybe you could talk about that sometime and how you deal with it? Thanks again! Tommy
