Gotta unite around something. People often overlook the significants of a symbol. Having a reason for any country that is a world apart to unite is worth it I reckon.
As a Canadian, i am very happy to be part of the Commonwealth. I am fond of the constitutional monarchy and prefer it to a U.S. system with a president. You never know who is going to represent you then.
Brother didn't even mention Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth which was the first and only one of it's kind in the world that people actually refer to when saying the word...
It's a volunteer organisation, and no one swears allegiance to any other member. Other than political block, commonwealth provides student scholarships to member nations, develops projects, works with UN in charity, aid, refugee crisis, child and women health. It's like a club. We are bounded by common history. We can't change our historical relationship with other members.
Your government can leave its voluntary. But then you will lose another source of aid, emigration, scholarship for students, visa friendly, and custom friendly nations. Your government will leave all that? No.
@@TheMrPeteChannel J. J. McCullough has a video that explains the Monarch really has had no real powers for quite a while and Pubbies of the CoN are very embarrassed to pay allegiance to a Monarch when they really want an elected Head of State from Their own country. I proposed an idea The Monarch and the Royals can have a "Windsor City" much like the Pope has the Vatican. An even darker fact is The Monarchy and Royals of Britain actually keep a close eye on the USA which in fact is a colony of theirs because the commercial language is English. When the CoN falls, We can join the rest of the English speaking world as a Union simply called The Anglosphere. CANZUK has been a notion joke since the late 90's.
