Norm travels to the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, Connecticut, to examine the $2.69 list price Montgomery-Ward wheelbarrow that was the subject of one of Sloane's most famous drawings. This, along with other historic examples, provides Norm with design clues as to what makes a good old-fashioned wheelbarrow. Bowing to modernity in its use of a pneumatic tire, Norm's oak wheelbarrow features removable sides for greater versatility and medium-density overlay plywood for a smooth and durable bed.
Season: 4 | Episode: 9

Hands down the best Carpenter I grew up watching. Beautiful dog by the way.
@bozobaz30
@bozobaz30 Год назад
I should imagine he is quite a competent carpenter and obviously very knowledgeable sadly all that this shows are his skills within a fully kitted out wood shop and a jig for everything. I grew up watching my father( a cabinet maker) where power tools were rarely used if ever

@@bozobaz30 that’s great, but those days are long gone; still the best carpenter I’ve seen growing up. This doesn’t take away from the mans skills. Them old Carpenters are very skilled workers as well.

I binge watch episodes while working remotely from home, comfort TV for me, like old MASH episodes. or even Bob Ross doing a painting. This is just plain good stuff!

I do too! Everytime I want to watch someone build something that is EASILY purchased at a store which has already been assembled and is cheaper to buy than it is to build, AND done so by a nerd wearing shirts made out of old curtains in a gay bar, I watch NAAAAAM.

Thank you for putting these videos together, I always enjoyed watching Norm on Sunday morning's on PBS here in N.C. & now I really appreciate them even more. Can you only imagine how much it would cost to make a wheelbarrow like that with today's lumber prices, easily $300 to $400.00 😢. I always admired Norm & just how good he was/is. Thank you Norm for the great memories.

Which is exactly hy my brand new METAL two-wheeled pneumatic tired wheelbarrow for $169.99 at Ace was such a bargain! AND it was assembled already!

i’d use Thompson deck clear or water proofing colored stain due to if your mulch bags are wet from a recent rain or hauling fire place logs getting a work out with grandkids wanting a ride. you can hose it off let it air dry not have worry about it rotting. you can leave it outside

This is far better than any wheel barrow you can buy today. Everything available is so flimsy and if it is well made they want a fortune. So, some time and effort and you have something that will last indefinitely. I guarantee that if you spend the time to build this, it wont get left out in the weather.

Loved watching these shows back in the day. It's great that these are now available, because I missed a few, being at sea. Looking forward to re-watching every series. The only thing that made me cringe in this video, was watching Norm use that beautiful Estwing hammer to bend the metal. The proper tool would have been a ball peen hammer, made for working on metal.

@@paulorth2251 Yeah, right? Trying to hold a strip of stock on end for cutting tenon cheeks is obviously dangerous, and very unsafe to push through the blade. I've never used one of these jigs before, and as soon as I finally get my hands on one, I'll be a master mortise and tenon maker for years!
