Excellent video. Don't let anyone tell you that the 22 WMR is inadequate for self defense. It's much easier to be DEADLY ACCURATE with this round than any 9mm for the average shooter. Accuracy over caliber in any situation.
@davidmarkwald450
@davidmarkwald450 3 года назад
My understanding is that the .22 magnum has same stopping power as a 38 special. That means that 3 out of 5 rounds will take you down. Pretty good odds if you ask me. I need to get one of these for ease of conceal ability as EDC.
@nickliberto6583
@nickliberto6583 Год назад
I agree. Face it, when shooting with a 2" barrel, one is going to do most defensive shooting within 20'. And several well placed shots will do a lot of discouragement.
@stopthehate9102
@stopthehate9102 Год назад
.22mag is a little less than half the energy of 9mm. It also has very little penetration. You can easily check the ballistics online. 9mm works well in a revolver also.
@Aglassact77
@Aglassact77 Год назад
.22 mags are pretty deadly , like any round placed well . If given the choice though , 9mm rounds are deadlier and there’s more choices and types . Almost every .22 test including .22 mag has boasted different results in consistency. It’s a fun round to shoot for sure , but I wouldn’t stake my life on it . Not the best defense round . Maybe a lightweight backup ???

@@stopthehate9102 Recent research with Federal Punch ammo shows superb penetration and wounding, exceeding the .38 special….with much less snappiness to the recoil.

I have a Taurus like this in .22mag but with a 4In barrel. I agree with everything said here. It looks like a 357 but the heft makes it the most accurate gun I own. The .22mag comes screaming out of that barrel. Whenever I bring it with me to the range, I let folks shoot it if they want and everyone finds it to be the most fun gun they’ve shot that day I bought it used and it’s really well built, super reliable and was half the price of the Rutgers and s&w revolvers.

I absolutely love my 941, in a 2 inch blued model with a fully adjustable rear sight. The fit and finish is outstanding as is the bluing, which is highly polished and bright just like old school S&W's. It's accurate as well. A real pleasure to shoot. Being all steel it's a bit heavier than the alloy model, but still very easy to carry.

I just purchased a Ruger Lcrx 22wmr 3" . I think the 18 ozs. , Adj. sights, and Hogue grip along with stainless construction (except for the Aluminum monolithic frame) covered in some type of polymer allows me to hold in higher esteem what some people would say is "only a six shot". Don't overlook those 22mag wheelguns, you're not exactly defenseless.

I finally got my 942 in 22 WMR after being on a waiting list for a few months. It will be next week, at the earliest, before I can take it to the range. Since I have not seen it in stores, I bought based on this and other reviews. I passed on Ruger six shot and S&W seven shot revolvers in comparable size and the same caliber for two reasons. First was the price, about two hundred bucks more for the Ruger and three hundred for the hard to find Smith & Wesson. Second was the hard trigger pull in double action. I could pull it but it was harder than I would like. Well, this Taurus, has a very light, almost a hair trigger when the hammer is pulled back but a very heavy trigger pull in double action mode. This is the heaviest pull I have seen on any handgun with the possible exception of a cheap derringer I passed on. One reason I got this is that, as I get older, it is harder to rack most pistols and eight shots of 22 WMR may be an alternative.

Love me a three-inch barrel revolver. I own two stainless Taurus revolvers with this length, both made prior to the safety locks. One is a Model 85 in .38 Special, and the other a 941 in .22WMR. Uber easy to shoot and I think what you’re shooting puts out something like 140 ft lbs……close to .38 special. Has the usual terrible double action found on rim fire revolvers but it stages very nicely all the same and single action is typical Smith….wonderful. I have an lcr in 22 magnum that I find myself carrying more often than I thought, I have always carried a compact steel frame semi auto ( currently a CZ P01) and never had much of an issue as far as comfort. The lcr just disappears carrying appendix and has the benefit of being small enough to fit in a pocket if necessary. 22 mag is not an ideal defensive load but in situations that require deep concealment the trade off is worth it and with good shot placement will get the job done

Thank you for your review. I finally found one in stainless at Sportsman’s for $380 out the door with a 3 inch barrel absolutely love it 22 magnum is an awesome round.

This seems like a really nice carry gun. The heavy trigger is necessary due to rim fire and reliability issues. But as you said, the trigger stages beautifully, like S&W. It looks nice too and the availability of a 3” barrel does the trick for me. That, plus the 8 round capacity make this gun a serious contender in my elder carry repertoire. I’m looking for one now. I love 22 Magnum. 32 in a small pistol is still more snappy than I like but I’m keeping the Beretta 3032. The Taurus will be a fine carry gun. Beretta can live beside the bed.

Taurus took over Rossi. I just wish they would hurry up with shipping my replacement .22 mag bolt rifle. I've been waiting a whole year come Dec., 12th. Thanks for the review. I like Taurus. They've came a long way in quality.

Have the .22 Taurus Tracker. Came with both .22LR and .22 Mag cylinders. It's nine shots in 22 Mag or .22 LR. 4" barrel but is heavy duty in stainless--not really a carry all day piece. BUT sweet to shoot - almost no recoil. Got it new a few years ago for way less than $400.00. Quality is EXCELLENT !

I love mine! Had it for about 4 months now. This and the mark 4 are all I've been running at the range lately. I think slot of that has to do with ammo availability. Have had 0 issues with it.

I loved your enthusiasm you displayed during your presentation of the Taurus 942 m 8 shot. I think you like it. Coming from an expert in the field, your presentation sold me. I am on the hunt for one now after 5 minutes. About 15 years ago I had a Taurus 357 m stuby. I loved the gun but it did have it's drawbacks. I would goto the range about 3 times a week and go thru 50.typically every time rndsrnds

Another thing I like about the 942 is the rear sight has horizontal adjustment. For me this is a real advantage over the Taurus 856 (the .38 special) which doesn't. I have the 942LR with a three inch barrel. It is one accurate little revolver.When I fire some of the hot rounds, like punch or stingers, however, the casings often swell enough to make ejection a problem. No such problem with standard ammunition. I am considering purchasing a WMR version with a two inch barrel for EDC.

I love your channel and also own several Taurus firearms. That being said, even 22 WMR is hard to find where I’m at. I own the 856 & 605 (my EDC), both have the same frame & dimensions as 942. You’re not lying about low-profile. I appendix carry the 605 in a sticky holster and it is the most comfortable carry, with minimal printing.

I wanted one of their 3inch 38s with the night sights. Couldn't seem to ever find one. Settled on a black 2in 856 with wood grips. Haven't regretted it. Great gun for the price.

Watched you a few times, but this one made me subscribe... I have an old 9 shot .22 lr that belonged to my dad, I always thought that if it was a little smaller I might carry it, but now I have options, and in .22 mag.... cool 😎

Just snagged a 3 inch in black. Very accurate. Action was a little rough first time out. Took it home and cleaned it and gave it a little oil. Feels better. I'll take it out again and hope she loosens up some.

.22LR version is very tempting. Actually 5 months later I have warmed up to the 22 mag. I'll take a 3" one with laser grip.

I'd recommend Speer Gold-Dot ammo if you are carrying 22mag for self defense. It's made for short barrels and expands very well at lower velocities. I have a 9" revolver in 22mag and those Gold-Dots just make cans of dog food explode at like 15 yards. They hit pretty hard for a rimfire. I don't carry anything smaller than a 380 though. I use HSTs or extreme penetrators in my Ruger LCP Max.

Nice looking wheel gun! I'm shooting more 22lr these days, only things I have plenty of and is still a bunch of fun! My only 22mag is a heritage rough rider. Ok, but little clunky. Think I'll keep an eye out for one of these! Thanks for sharing!

I plan on getting one of the ultra lite versions in 2 inch 22 lr. Last box of 22 mag I bought 2 yrs ago was around $7 and feltvthst was overpriced. From a 2 inch barrel the 22 mag loses a lot of velocity. 22 lrVelocitor Can get pretty close to 22 mag performance for a lot less per 50 round box.Taurus should offer an optional 22 lr cylinder for the 22 mag version..

I used to have a sentinel hi standard mk IV it was a 9 shot 22 magnum snub nosed revolver. I picked it up off the street for 150 bucks when i was 19. I ended up re-selling it but now i deeply regret it after finding how rare that particular pistol is now.
