Good fix! I had a similar problem with a seal on a Jeep Wrangler. I was driving down the freeway and a long piece of thin plastic wrap flew out of a garbage truck in front of me. It went under my Jeep and I didn't think much about it until I got a weird driveline vibration shortly after that. I pulled over and crawled under the Jeep to find the plastic tightly wrapped around the driveshaft at the rear axle. It took 10 minutes of cutting with a utility knife to get the plastic off. The plastic had destroyed my pinion seal. Now I cringe and watch my rear view mirror every time I see a plastic bag go under my truck on the freeway.

Thanks! Wow isn't that luck. I have seen some interesting things wrapped around driveshafts. I once encountered a S10 or Dakota truck with a set of mattress springs tangled up n wrapped around the shaft 🙄.....I will now be dodging every plastic bag I see on the highway! Thanks for watching my Friend! 👍😁

Hey Andy. Just yesterday I bought a 2lb. slide hammer kit at Harbor Freight for $25. Might be replacing axle seals on a John Deere STX38 I got for $50. I love finding deals on lawn equipment people don't know how to fix and then get crazy high quotes from repair shops. Thanks for posting.

I might have to check out that slide hammer kit! I have a large one (way too big for this job) and a couple homemade smaller units lying around. I heard that, I love fixing old stuff and saving it from the scrap yard! Thanks for watching my Friend! 👍😁

@@FlatThunder my wheelhorse 520 is now surging, it has a new carb and fuel filter, i do see debris in the fuel tank by petcock, i ordered a new petcock and fuel pump just to be safe. Have you had any surging issuse?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 2 месяца назад
@@leedimatteo5078 yes typically it is a fuel delivery issue and I think you are going down the right path. I never fully replaced a carburetor on one, but have fully disassembled and cleaned them on multiple occasions. Clean your carburetor and check the float seat and float height after replacing the fuel pump. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

@@FlatThunder so after replacing the fuel filter, fuel pump and petcock still surging, i checked the float seat and float height, one of the floats was full of gas!!

@@leedimatteo5078 winner winner! If it was a brand new carburetor I might request a credit or at least a replacement float. I always shake the floats and listen for sloshing fluid during rebuilds. It's pretty common for them to develop pin holes and leak. Happy you found the issue! 👍😁
