i just finished 4 again last week, and im working on 5. 4-6 are solid. and 4 has one of my favorite arcs in the series the first time through. enjoy the ride, ser!
I’m about 1/3 of the way through this (d/l and saving it for my run) and WOW! This must have taken an incredible amount of time to create. Thank you SO much for the work you put into this - it’s incredible. I loved the show but I’m not crazy about the books, so this is just what I needed! 😀
hey Sonya!! the books may not be for you. personally, its become my favorite completed series, partially because my favorite author wrote the last three. here's a high-level type review of the series in case you are debating whether to keep going or not 1 - decent first book. fun 2 - similar type of story as book 1, but better. a lot of fans love this book. there are some key payoffs in the ending in terms of stuff in the first 10 chapters, so that was cool. plus new cities, brief introductions to new characters for new cultures, and one particularly cool character arc ending 3 - similar framework as 1/2. probably better than 1 but worse than 2 4, 5, 6 - these books are solid. some fans consider book 6 to be their favorite. others 4 and 5. i loved one of the book 4 arcs, especially the first time through. a certain fan favorite begins to come alive in 5, and book 6 has an awesome climax 7-10 - weakest of the series. but some major events happen. and personally, i enjoy spending time with the characters and the world 11-14 - the last 4 are awesome. 11 written by Robert Jordan. and 12-14 written by Brandon Sanderson after Robert fire ran out but i guess my main point is that you may find book 2 similar to book 1. and in some ways, 3 is similar. but beyond them, the story finds its footing in terms of ongoing subplots that extend between several books as opposed to being wrapped up within a book like they are in books 1 and 2
@@bridge4 thank you, I value your opinion so I might give the audiobooks a second chance this summer. I do love the show so much and the Brandon Sanderson volumes are definitely something to look forward to.
i cannot wait for season 2. they plan on doing the 14+ books in around 8 seasons. so it will be very interesting to see which books they combine into single seasons, and which stuff they drop. should be gnarly tho. cant wait to see more of it on-screen, especially my love, Nynaeve!! =))
haha nice! i almost included Lan in that comment above Lan is the type of character i gravitate towards. but we don't get the same look inside his head as we do with someone like Nynaeve. and, to be fair, even if we did, id probably still love Nynaeve the most. she's awesome! such a loving, selfless, badass
thanks for the kind words! when i read stories, im not able to visualize the map just from reading it. so i often go back to the beginning of the book to check out the map since i like to have an idea of where things are going down. i wish there was more art out there to use, but i figure ill resort to the map otherwise =))
@@bridge4 same, constantly flipping to the map! I’ve already read the series 20 years ago, reading again, on book 6. I find that your review reminds me of things I had forgotten from just a few books ago. So the mapping in your video is great bc I don’t have to get out my book when listening and check the map to remind myself what direction some wayward village is in 😇😂
Just found you, love the work and the atte to detail. Ive been a fan of the books* for years, admittedly not since 91 like the og fans, I was just born. I've been looking for a good recap for a minute now, to pass along to a few friends who haven't read the books but want to watch the show. I don't want them to miss out on the depth of the story by watching summaries on RU-vid thag gloss over details. Daniel green's read along's are good. Yours are almost like an audio book. im with you. i had "The Wheel of Time" on my radar for awhile, but just never got around to it. So I'm definitely in the new fandom. But with that said, it's become my favorite completed series (Stormlight is technically my favorite tho :-P) please be careful sharing this with friends though since this video will likely spoil Season 2. next week, im doing 2 or 3 videos on Season 1, and in the future, i will get back to doing non-spoilery History and Lore type videos. but yeah, please just be careful with this one since i hate spoiling stuff for people. and thank you for the kind words the wheel weaves as the wheel wills =))
@@bridge4 Stormlight is my favorite too. Its the story of how Harriet found Sando, the eulogy he wrote for Jordan when he passed, and how he handled the limelight and constantly gave Jordan praise while on tour that made me fall in love with him. I started with mistborn 1-3 then ellantris warbreaker and finally found TWOK and fell into the sea of beads in shades smar and got hooked. He encapsulated that super hero moment perfectly with Kal's slow burn to being idk.. The best fantasy character ever written. And that's in competition with Dalinar ooooof. I'm so glad we're alive and watching history being made. Journey before destination.
omg, i looooved your last post, gancho!! =)) and i get that Dilinar is beloved by many fans. but im team Kaladin all the way (and arguably, im actually team Sylphrena lol) i got into Brandon a little differently though. around season 3 or 4 of Game of Thrones, i found out there were books. so i got them and was reading and re-reading non-stop. one summer, i decided to get audible while sitting out at a pool, so i got the ASOIAF books since im obsessed with "rereads." audible had been recommending Elantris every time i opened it, so i finally got that unaware of who Brandon was or that it was his first one published. I went right into Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. That's actually why my channel is named "bridge4." i had no plan of ever making videos. but the ending to the "Whitespine Uncaged" chapter so gnarly. i looooved those first two books, and made a youtube "bridge4" just to show them love after Westworld Season 1 Episode 1, there was no one making videos. and i had questions, so i was the first person to make a Westworld episode 1 video. and i just kept going from there. a month or two after the season, i started making ASOIAF and GoT videos, so i just kept the "bridge4" name over the years, a bunch of friends in the chat have recommended Stormlight to me, and i always respond with "check out my channels screen name" lol. thats always funny so i did Elantris, WOK, WOR, then Mistborn Era 1, Warbreaker, Arcanum Unbounded, then some non-Cosmere stuff like The Reckoners and Skyward series, then Mistborn Era 2 =)) cant wait for The Lost Metal this november =)))

My favorite book so far in the series (getting through Knife of Dreams so far). It's by far the most quest-like of the series and get serious Fellowship of the Ring vibes from it. And the ending battle in Falme is spectacular.
yo bro!!! yeah, book 1 was specifically designed to be a tribute to "The Fellowship of the Ring" and book 2 is a better version of book 1. personally, i loved 11-14 the best dude, the last three are written by Brandon Sanderson. if you like them, then for godsake, finally read "the stormlight archive" which is the best!
and you're not alone. there's a large segment of the fandom that prefers 2 the most. i think the biggest group are those that like 6 the most. personally, id say 14 lol. granted, further books have the luxury of being a function of all that comes before them
@@bridge4 Book 6 had a good ending but was pretty hit and miss in the middle I thought. My second favorite is book 5. Hope ya do a recap of TFoH, especially with the climax of that book and the mystery surrounding it. Really wish things turned out differently…😀
im eventually going to do them all. i had been planning on doing them sequentially, but who knows. my process is a reread to refresh myself, rough draft, another reread before final edits. so far, ive done rereads of 3 and 4, and working on 5. but i didnt do the rough drafts for 3 and 4 LOL. that could backfire. i gotta remember to do them soon or else my OCD will cause me to read them twice more for those videos and i hear ya on 6. the climax was gnarly, but the book as a whole isnt my favorite. 5 was pretty cool. Mat is a beloved character in the fandom, but i didnt really start to like him until book 5
@@bridge4 I thought Mat got a raw deal in the early books. Come on, he was under the influence of the Mashadar until the middle of book 3 so I forgive him lol. And the show made him out to be a lot shadier than his book origins suggests. Book 5 callout for the traveling circus...loved it. Covering the slog is hard reading (just got through it)...can't imagine how difficult that would be!

In my opinion you are the narrative equivalent of Morgan Freeman, I love listening and watching your videos. If you ever read the Presidents Vampire series by Christopher Farnsworth I'd love to hear your thoughts on that
hahah hey Jordan! i wish!! the upside to this video versus others is that this one is more evergreen. so this could potentially get more views over the long-term. i had hoped it wouldve gotten 20k views tho instead of the 2 or 3k that it got. if it had gotten 20k, then i wouldve gone straight into book 3, book 4, and so on im definitely going to continue these videos as soon as i can, but this one took me an entire week since i read the book 3 times over the course of making the video lol i actually already did the 2 or 3 reads for Mistborn book 1, and wrote a script for that. but since this video didnt clear 10k views, i decided to hold off on editing a 45min Mistborn video lol (i had hoped to do all 6 ahead of Mistborn book 7 coming out in November. but now that seems unlikely. i might just do one for book 6 i guess)

a lot of people recommend it, but i have a weird (and probably petty) bias against apple. i was forced to use a Mac back in college since all the PCs were being used in the lab, and it didnt have a right click button. that angered me more than it should have lol then i had the iPhone4 back in the day. and getting pictures back and forth to computer through iTunes was so annoying. plus, they make you buy their own cables. i find that really annoying so basically, i dont know if ill ever watch Apple TV since i hate the company lol (my buddy tells me it has some of the best shows tho, so who knows. maybe some day) apologies tho. for now, i spend enough on HBO, Netflix, and Amazon. cant get myself to purchase another subscription service
ive done one Mistborn video related to book 1 a long time ago. and since Mistborn Book 6 comes out in November, i plan on doing at least 6 mistborn videos before then (recaps). if any of those get views, ill consider doing more i actually read Mistborn Book 1 three times last month while scripting a "Mistborn: Book 1 Recap" video. i vaguelly recall it being longer than my Stormlight Book 1 script, (which was a 30 min video) and shorter than this one. (hour video) i had planned on doing that before this one, but once i reread great hunt. i got all excited, so i wrote a rough draft. then reread it again and finalized this script. and for whatever reason, i made this video first. but yeah, i will be doing Mistborn videos =))
