Perspective of a long term reader who has read the series a dozen times or more. Personally feel it is better than s1, E1 is probably the weakest episode. E3 was my favourite. I am probably less stressed about changes than many readers however as i knew condensing 4.5 million words into 64 hours was going to dramatically change the story. Loved the accepted test personally. Things i like... Zoe playing nyneave, Elaynes portrayal, Show liandrin being more interesting than book liandrin, the introduction of the seanchan. Things i am neutral on- the rand and selene arc. Things i dislike - the interaction between moiraine and lan and the way lan is being portrayed generally.

I basically agree with all the likes and dislikes, and am hopefully for the series going on. The accepted test almost disappointed me until I realized what was happening.

@@melanietahna I fell for it as well, I was saying to myself "wtf she is just leaving?" :)

@@tw7998 I only started to fall for it because I didn't have faith in the showrunners to not stray that far from the plot. Btw bravo for reading WOT that many times. I've only gone through twice. But don't you think they just looked at where characters needed to be for major plot points, and instead of telling a real story, just have people talk (generally waste time) and then move to where they need to be? For example: Parrin walked across the map in a couple episodes (we skip all the cool stuff that should happen with Rand) The girls at the white tower won't go on that awesome chase of the black sisters (it looks like they'll just be moved their for other reasons, or who knows what with that last scene)

@@jamesalexander958 I only read it that many times because I started reading in 1992 as a child. Each time a new book was due out I would reread the series in preparation, and of course I did a reread ahead of the TV show S1 and have just started one now I think there are real pacing issues, but I think that's partly due to the impossible task of converting such a mammoth story into 64 hours. I think if they had been given 100 hours we would see a different show. Don't get me wrong, I resent time wasted on sub plots such as Alanna's warders .. but I did love some of the stuff, such as the accepted test Can we agree Zoe robins is doing an amazing job at least? ;)

@@tw7998 At lwast you can enjoy it. I just watch it to rant with my coworker when we grab coffee. Just one counterpoint, One Piece is a massive work, and arguably harder to adapt because of the over-the-top characters, and they stayed faithful and are making people happy. I think they could have done the same thing. RIP Lan

It's funny how some of the Aes Sedai portrayals feel spot on, like you said I love Verin in the show so far. And then Rafe just wanted to put his boyfriend in the show, so we're forced to watch all of these awkward scenes with Alanna and her Warders. I'm so split on the show, it's better this season but there's still so much left to be desired.

It seems like Rafe maybe needs to preserve the true story more and intrude less with his own stuff. But I am glad that Verin is so awesome

It seems a lot of people are not enjoying the alanna stuff (me included) but there is stuff i am loving. The tower girls are done well, i think liandrin is more interesting in the show than books and i dont actually mind how they handled lanfear.

I'm with the OP here, love the Green Ajah violating sexual taboos but it needs to be done with dignity not this low effort poorly written pandering.

I feel personally attacked by the show lol. I don't really need an adaptation. But, not only would I have loved to see WOT spread in popularity, I could have shared it with my wife. She didn't think it was interesting and I wouldn't want her to suffer anyway at this point. Strange that we're loving One Piece. If only someone had put half that inspiration into WOT Aside from a million things that they mess up in the show. My biggest gripe is that they aren't telling a story. They are moving characters where they need to be, but don't do anything but make sex jokes. Maybe the jokes would have made me laugh when I was twelve.

That’s a very good point about moving the story. It feels stiff, like they’re really trying too hard in the wrong areas.
