The time I know you have all been waiting for, What wheels will we be running on the Mk2 Polo Coupe project? We have gone for Autostar Minus in 15x7.5 ET25 fitment which are far too big for the car so we need to make them fit! Big thank you to Autostar for sorting me a deal and for the very fast delivery. When I first saw those wheels I wasn't sure, but seeing them under those modified arches they look great. 185 tyres were the right choice too.

Loving thr project but personally despise stretched tyres. A 195/45R15 would have looked nice on those rims. Can't wait for more of this series.

Amazing job on fabricating the new arches Dan, once they are all dressed up filled and primed they will look like they should be there I have every faith that you can do it mate as you are very good at fabrication 👌🤓 I think it's a good idea to include consumables plus I also think you should include the price of the paint as it's very expensive these days, looks like the car owes you £2,400 on hours already so it will be interesting to see the final cost of hours when it's all finished🤔 🤑💰 Looking forward to the next one🙏👍

I pulled the front arches on my Mk2 Golf. I’d put coilovers on it and the rear was fine, but the front caught on full lock. I just cut the arch leaving it attached at the bottom, both sides, about 40mm, then extended like you have. I’m no expert as I left the body shop world years ago, but it came out well and was subtle enough for it not to be noticeable unless parked alongside a standard Golf.

I am excited to see where this Polo project is headed 👍🏻 I like the choose to change the rear brakes to discs instead of keeping the drums. Also the wheels and tires sizes are spot on. As far as an engine goes for this project I recommend the later Polo 1.6 liter 16v and add a supercharger or turbo, since this 1.6 is only 75hp in stock form from VW.

Nice job! On the T5 check it’s not the egr pipe at the back of the engine that’s cracked. New part from Tps is uprated.

You could have made a wooden jig to bolt onto the hub and sit against the flared arch at a marked point to get them symmetrical

Consumables are always the scary bit , i never think the cost in a build is the big stuff, its all the washers and clips and quick trips to halfords that really adds up

Nice looking polo coming together, i run 15 by 8 and 8,5 BBS rm's on my mk1 jetta with 165/50 and 185/45 tyres. I had those 165/45 on my 8" wide wheels earlier but that was way too much stretch for my liking and also when rear wheels didn't have as much it looked little ridicilous id say. But im sure 165/45 will do fine with 7,5"

When I started restoring my mk2 golf I had a budget of 7k. Well I’m now 2years in and 8k lighter. And the consumables are one of the key killers. I think it’s because you don’t think you use that much.

For the arches to get the round OEM profile, a friend of mine uses cuts from scrapped arches and cuts them to fit the profile hole left when you open them up. Back when VAG still made arch patches this was way easier, as you could just buy them ready to cut Seems to work and due to them essentially being the same size is less work.

I wouldn't be surprised if the smell of the exhaust in the T5 is from the pipe you plumbed from the exhaust through the diesel heater into the van! Lots of people commented on that in the video when you installed it.

I recently painted my car for the first time and I think I spent $250US just on masking tape and masking paper. lol. Consumables are ridiculous, I thought I was going to be able to paint the whole car for under $1000US including the gun, air compressor moisture filters, paint, primer, filler, etc. Ha! I think it was a little over $1500US.
