Thank you. A lifesaving video as I have never ridden on a train in my wheelchair yet. I was quite nervous to book a train ride, but this video seems wonderful! ❤️
We have ridden the auto train several times but never in an accessible sleeper bedroom. I have watched several videos showcasing the amenities. It remains to see the practical use of the space and bed by a quadriplegic who needs total assistance to transfer from wheelchair to bed and vice versa.
I love your video and story about your trip. It puts in perspective your one way solo and other way with a companion. It seems these rooms are like superliner accessible room. Viewliner has more space. Also new Viewliner II has separate shower which looks awesome. I want to ride it from NYP-ORL one day.
Thank so very much for sharing this video , I enjoyed it and enjoyed you're smile , I only wish you made it a bit longer , even by 10 minutes would have worked , anyway ,,,, thanks again and hope you're trip went well .
Finally, a video about someone in a wheelchair so I can learn about Amtrack's accessibility. Did you get a special accessible room? Was the bathroom in your room or was this a special wheelchair bathroom? Were there plugins for your wheelchair as well as any special equipment such as BiPap machines, etc.? Places for medications? I liked that this video showed the ramps to board. You didn't have a caregiver with you so wondering if there are larger rooms to accommodate a caregiver?
Thank you soo much for taking the time to make this video. I am looking into possibly doing this but I'm concerned about my electric wheelchair. Question for you, do you think you could have been okay with going coach or do you think it is worth the upgrade? Thank you again.
Hey from the UK, love your travel vlogs!! How would a non transferring wheelchair user cope with using Amtrak, are there further spaces for the wheelchairs? We want to cruise to NY from the UK, but without flying back to UK, so wondered how we would cope getting from NY to FL travelling this way. Thanks in advance, best wishes x
Claire Freeman I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. I can only speak to my personal experience as someone who can transfer from my wheelchair to a seat or to the bed. Would you have someone who can help you transfer? Or would you be required to stay in your chair the whole time?
Hello, just wanted to to say I love your positive attitude, not sure how you became wheelchair bound, and it doesn't matter, glad to see you smiling so much, I have a question for you, I am taking my first autotrain Trip in 3 weeks, I was wondering how rough was the trip? I do not do well riding in a car, so am hoping the train is smoother, thanks, and keep smiling
I'm planning a trip with my husband in july. I use a hover lift to transfer him out of the wheelchair. In your expert ravel g on the auto train, do you remember if I will be able to slide the hover kit underneath the bed, is the bed have at least 10 inches clearance? I had send multiple messages to Amtrak but they cannot help me with this request
This was a really good video because you showed the entire experience of the train trip using the accessible bedroom----ALMOST. You forgot the bed experience itself. But you captured details like getting on and off the train--- getting in to your seat and even using the toilet and sink. Nobody shows those details. Sorry you missed the actual bed experience though.
Is there accessible lower level coach? All i see is the room and im not really seeing anything on lower level coach disabled. I need windows and such 🤣
@hemaccabe4292 From all other videos I've seen, you eat in your room. You must know the width of the aisle and the width of your wheelchair to determine if you can get to the dining car. You have a menu of meals to choose from and the food is brought to you.
