I recently became a follower. I was born with Spina Bifida. I have an L4-L5 injury. I can walk but I use a scooter for the long distances. However I did use a walker and wheelchair and totally wish I still had one. I really look up to you chelsie and your outlook on life. You are amazing! And I wish I had someone like Jay in my life. I hope and pray to meet a guy that will love me unconditionally. You both inspire me! Thank you for being so real and making me feel understood and accepted!

The way Jay explained how he builds his chair is dead on! I find sometimes it’s hard to explain how I feel when I know a spot is fitting wrong but I can’t pinpoint where or what it is.

Steph had actually told me about the center of gravity at an abilities expo. Mine was off and it made a world of difference to have it adjusted properly.

Thank you so much Chelsie & Jay for making this video! It helps alot I have a much better idea of what I want on my next chair. It also helps hearing from the ATP’s point of view

In the UK I had to pay £3500 for my active wheelchair as the wheelchair services in my town said that they wouldn’t pay for exactly what I wanted in part because of the fact I can stand and walk with a frame. But I still absolutely NEED. A wheelchair to get any where far. They said they could contribute (~up to £750) for certain chairs but that process of assessment etc. would have taken a year to come through and I couldn’t wait.

Thank you for taking the time to share this information and for being so willing to help ppl and answer their questions! It’s very helpful for new users. I’m a T10 para as well and know what I prefer after being a 26 yr wheelchair user. You guys are a great team! Im going to look into getting your back rest bc I live in Houston and it gets nasty hot! Lol. I use a Jay J3 and it’s makes me soooo hot.

I have soooo many questions. When I did my original seating my ATP didn’t show (or left the facility..can’t remember which) prior to my seating evaluation. I’ve had my chair for almost 5 years now and I have gained a significant amount of weight since (I was severely malnourished from gastroparesis). I had to rely on the PT who did my evaluation for any suggestions (Which weren’t many) and while I’m thankful for my chair I don’t feel like it’s ever been “right”. I now live in another state and am starting over yet again.

Thank you, this was very educational especially since I'm overdue for a new chair. I learned a lot and will definitely look into certain aspects before I go for my new chair. I wish we had APT's like Jay where I get my chair from, very knowledgeable and great at explaining why he makes certain decisions. I have a question and completely understand if you don't want to answer, the company Jay works for do they have offices on the East coast or are they strictly just in California? Thank you so much, this was very helpful!!

They are all over. I have a Tilite from Numotion in Ohio. Good luck and stay strong with what you want and the fit. I didn't an now I'm waiting for a new one to arrive. Chair depth was to deep and wide.

Thank you so much for making the video. Thanks Jay. I'm a retired firefighter paramedic. I have cervical and lumbar damage. I am not going to be in a chair full time at this point but my doctor wants me to have it as a tool when I have places I have to be but I'm in enough pain that I can't move very well. But my docs are also surprised I'm not in one full time. I'm stubborn. Doc wants me to give in and use it for times that I normally push it beyond my medicine capabilities to keep me comfortable and add some time to my mobility before the chair becomes full time. So I'm curious at this time do I get a chair for my current condition or my expected condition in a year from now? If I'm at home I can use a cane or rollator. If I go to the zoo with my grandkids I rent a chair at the zoo. The doctor is sending me to the Ohio State University chair sizing clinic. Lots of questions and anxiety.

I don’t know if you will still see this comment but I have a question for Jay. My latest chair I got about 3 years ago after losing 148 lbs. Typically I would get a chair that was very sturdy with pneumatic casters to accommodate my previous weight. However I decided to go with a lightweight Tilite and smaller casters. Anyway, my issue is that this chair can’t handle even the tiniest of bumps without the back wheels popping off the ground and I’ve flipped forward a couple of times. I’ve regained a bit of weight and the problem is worse. Do you know what could be going on?

I have sort of a dumb question. you said that getting a new chair was every five years....... does that ever stop? I mean, does there ever come a time where they say, "Ok, You've had enough" your dogs are BEAUTIFUL by the way! I LOVE bulldogs!!!!!!

14:46 Shifting your weight on some side guards can be dangerous because they are coming out with some pretty cheap, flimsy ones now. Probably not the best suggestion. Also, the center of gravity may not be as you described with power assist wheels. 21:51...he said 'we like to place the bodies at 90˚ generally'...then he goes on and discusses dump (23:13)...which is NOT 90˚. What if you don't have sit bones? Mine got chewed up from a bone infection...is the back of the chair important or a special cushion or what? (C4 quad here)

Hey Chelsie is your roho pumped up all the way? I recently got one and I was told they pump it up fully and let the air out naturally for 5 minutes and that's how much air should be left? Yours looks very thick! She did say it would be weird being floppy. I may add a little air to it. But interested to know what you've been told 💖
@WholeFoodSpark
@WholeFoodSpark 2 года назад
I like mine fully pumped up then I sit on it and let out some air for about 2 seconds. By the time I get it sealed back up it’s perfect.

@@WholeFoodSpark so the rep helped set mine up and they said people prefer them over inflated and feel like it protects more but there isn't the movement in it like there should be to shift your weight about

there is no such thing in my country..i mean the costom made chair..we buy what the factory made..cannot complain anything about our chair..and as far as i know its only have one size..so my chair is too big for me,it's super heavy,and there are still a lot of thing that i don't like about my chair..but this is the best chair that i can get..there is chair that better that this but the price is soooooo expensive,like i can buy a new car with that price.. and no place to ask about how to maintain our chair,or even a wheelchair cushion.. in my city it's zero accessible..i can't go anywhere in my city..probably the only place that i can go to is a health care like hospital and clinic..
