CSX Train Passes Railroad Crossing & Before Gates Go Up A 2nd Train Passes In The Other Direction! This Caused A Turner To Leave The Wrong Way On A One Way Street. CSX Train With GIGANTIC Safety Training Tank Car Crosses My Favorite Railroad Crossing & Norfolk Southern Train Passes In Opposite Direction! 2 Trains Passing Twice In One Video! These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio.
First a CSX mixed freight heads northbound over a railroad crossing in Hamilton. Just as the end of the train passes and before the gates can go up another train shows up running southbound on CSX. A really cool car at the front of the line arrived for the first train. The driver got upset when he saw the second train approaching so he turned onto a side street going the wrong direction. Not a railfan lol.
Then we see a CSX mixed freight heading south at the next crossing to the north. This train had a huge safety training car on it. Look how big that tank car is! While that train was passing a second mixed freight showed up in the opposite direction! This was a Norfolk Southern train running north on CSX en route to the NS New Castle Sub. That was awesome getting two trains passing twice!
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.

Looked like the guy in the classic car had some other place to be in a hurry. I would've appreciated some header noise and tire smoke. Most papermills had a lime plant for slaking lime to make bleach liquor for turning the paper white. Chlorine would come in tank cars and lime rock in covered hoppers. The chlorine would be mixed with slaked lime to make the bleach liquor. Awesome video, enjoyed it much. Thanks JT!

Can't believe that driver risked that! A vintage car in pristine condition going the wrong way on a 1 way street is asking for an accident! That intermodal train was one of the longest I've ever seen, 206 cars! Another great video, Brian! My dad used to work in a paperboard mill here in eastern CT, the covered hoppers were likely full of a powdered clay used to coat the paper. His car used to get covered with the stuff! The mist would occasionally vent into the open air, anything nearby would get a light coat.

Intermodal's of that size are pretty common in the area. Both NS (Cincinnati Terminal) and CSX (Queensgate Yard) have massive yards in downtown Cincinnati and these tracks head straight for them. I don't know if CSX owns both tracks here and NS just has track rights or if NS owns the Western track but about two miles north of here the NS trains split off and head north west towards Muncie Indiana while the double track main continues north east towards Dayton Ohio.

I used to live in Cumberland,Maryland. I remember more than once waiting at the Baltimore Street crossing for a train. Just West was the Grafton diversion,Two tracks so on a rare occasion there were FOUR trains at the same time, one coming from Grafton,one going to Grafton, one coming from Sand patch and one going to Sand patch. What receiver should I get to listen to the hotbox radio chatter? I've always wanted to listen to them, even if they rarely said anything, spout out their NOAA-sounding radio chatter for some weird reason when I watch trains go by. The graffitti is what I what I look for, just because. And to answer the consist count at 20:20 , 158 cars, including the power units.
@JawTooth
@JawTooth 4 месяца назад
There are thousands of different radios that you can buy to get the railroad audio. It really depends on what you're wanting to do with the radios. I just buy the cheap Baofeng radios because they do what I need and only costs about 30 bucks new. You can Google them and order them off the internet. I buy mine at R&L Electronics in Hamilton just because I go to Hamilton a lot and the place is by the railroad. Different radios get different frequency ranges. The main thing is to make sure the radio gets 160 to 162 range which just about all radios get anyway. The radios are easy to break and they are complicated to program. There are videos on RU-vid showing how to program them. If you want to listen to the railroad frequencies you can get any Baofeng radio. The prices have come way down on radios over the years. Back in the 80s I bought similar radios and paid over 600 bucks for them and then had to get them modified out of band. If you are new to hand held radios just be prepared to be frustrated trying to program them and be patient.
@crackerjack4833
@crackerjack4833 4 месяца назад
@@JawTooth Awesome!! Great info, I appreciate that! I think all I want to do is just have a means of hearing what's going on when the trains go by, even if its just the hotboxes, so I'll probably just go with the Baofeng as you suggested. I'm only about 30 miles from Hamilton so I'll probably just hop in R&L one day on my way to work.
@JawTooth
@JawTooth 4 месяца назад
@@crackerjack4833 I was just over there a couple weeks ago and I bought a Baofeng UV5R. It's a really nice radio and puts out 7 watts when transmitting. We use them on the farm a little bit. It's got the same features as the UV6R but it transmits 7 watts instead of 5 and the buttons are set up a little different although they all do the same things. It costs about 30 bucks or so and it's pretty cool looking. I don't know how many radios I have because I just like collecting them. I have broke a few and I gave one to a friend of mine recently because he wants to listen to the trains also. By the way, they come with a drop in charger and the battery lasts a couple days or more before you have to recharge it. It depends on what all you are doing with it. They can scan frequencies or you can just listen to one or two at a time. I only listen to a couple frequencies at a time otherwise I start missing things. Just program something on the top and bottom and listen to two at a time, that is enough. You will need to learn the frequencies for the areas that you visit. Sometimes I put them in my videos for people or you can look them up on radioreference.com which is a site that I recommend. You might want to look up some of the videos that show how to operate the radios. You will need to do that in order to learn how to use them. Most of the Baofeng radios can be operated the same one even though they are different models and the keys are in different places. Just don't get frustrated. Try to learn one thing at a time. These radios are very complicated. Most of the features you will never need. I always take 2 or 3 radios and a charger with me no matter where I go. I have done that most of my life. When I was in college I took a radio to class and used an earphone. I used to take radios to work with me and talk to my wife on them using repeaters. We are licensed amateur radio operators. My dad got me into radios when I was 5
@crackerjack4833
@crackerjack4833 4 месяца назад
@@JawTooth My Dad was also an amateur ham radio operator back in the 80's, 90's and 2000, 2001 and 2002 before he passed. His handle was KA8YZB and he talked to people clear across the country lol At the house we lived at across from the old Country Inn restaraunt on route 68 in Mount Orab, he had a whole setup in the basement, with an oldshcool wave display thing (I have no idea what its technical term is) that had a small CRT monitor in it, an oldschool meter of some sorts that used those Nixie tubes for the numbers. Lord, the nostalgia lol That probably explains a little of why I have a special affection for radios and wanting to listen to whatever is going on. I even have a handheld CB radio, even though I never pick up anything out here in Hamersville LOL! My grandmother has an old CB Baystation she's going to give me. The only thing is I've got to build a tall antenna and I don't even know if they make them anymore lol I saved that link!! I might stop in R&L in the next couple of days, depending on what I got going on here at Moms homestead. I have to make sure I leave early enough, because I know I can get carried away browsing haha I appreciate all the info!

Howdy JT! That was a sharp looking and sounding car... looks like a mid-60's Pontiac but I can't nail down the model... GTO maybe? Those were some long trains to not have DPUs. At least I don't think I saw a DPU. I would love to know how they keep track of and manage those intermodel cars. Yeah, the lights disappearing like that is a phenomenon with LEDs. LEDs actually turn on and off really fast when they are 'on', and our brains fill in the blanks so to speak. But since I assume you are shooting in 60fps, the rapid flashing of the LEDs don't align with the camera frame rate. So they look like they fade in and out.

I just thought of something now. Why don't you ever see well cars with four short containers? More often you see two short containers with a single long one on top of them, or two short ones with nothing stacked on top.

The car that turned the wrong way appeared to be a 1964 Pontiac GTO (nice car)

Awesome and thanks, I will check it out for sure! I was supposed to go to an AC/DC tribute band concert in Mt Orab on Saturday night and I totally forgot. I was in West Chester and missed one of the best summer concerts. We have about a half dozen a year. Yes, the door on the train is how the crews board the train. There is also a bathroom in the front of the locomotive lol. Not many ppl know about that. I hope you are having a great start to the week
