Ugh, Deep Purple was the first LP my brother brought home. We didn't have a gramophone yet. It was in the 70s. I am now 60 and I still adore these virtuosos. I will listen to them as long as I live!
@@silentrage7280 Hahaha oh Man you just made my day with this joke :) DP are rock legends. In 50 years people will still listen to their masterpieces. Greta what? Whatever. Comparing ford fiesta to ferrari - funny
No wonder Deep Purple is still a great success and lived by its fans for over 55 years! Fantastic and highly competent artists, Ian Gillan, who is the best singer od the Universe and the charisma the band brings to the stage. Going to their concerts is the best experience ever!!!
@streamx3m .... You guys are nuts.... RB phoned in the solo on the studio version because he disliked it the song... It was supposed to be on Machine Head and he nixed it... True story...
@@barryrammer7906 ... In an interview with a couple members from the Mk2 version of Purple they stated the wanted that tune for the Machine Head album and Ritchie nixed it. He didn't want a ballad on the album... Also, DP with Ritchie never did this tune live until Morse joined the band... Actually check out Gillan's version on his Gillian's Inn album. It's great! I love RB but I think it was a mistake...
Yesterday I heard for the first time of this Song thanks to my beautiful Russian girlfriend❤️ while I know the music from Deep Purple from the beginning. What a Great song! They almost make this kind of music anymore.
I'll start off by declaring that I'm a Blackmore fan, to me his work in Puple and Raninbow was the best and nothing comes close to the work that he's done. No other quitarist has the feel that he he has - I don't limite this to Deep Purple, I mean quitarists in general, period: Having said that, Steve Morse is extraordinary and his interpretation of this song is absolutely sublime. Unfortunately Morse came into a legendary band which had it's status established, to a large degree, by Blackmore's playing. The fan base was already established and he gets 'hammered' by the Blackmore fans. And I'm one of Blackmmore fans but I can differentiate between the two and appreciate Morse for his fantastic playing. The band was old by the time he came around and is contribution is not really appreciate by a lot of original Deep Purple fans which I think it's wrong. Blackmore is simply on another stratosphere, as he is with the other quitarists. This however does not take anythign away from the sublime work Morse has done with the band.
The intro is EPIC, same as the rest of the song, this song must go at this pace always, not like the crappy versions with Satriani. Lord and Morse are the men!!!
Excellent performance! The best live version of this song is from the Bombay gig in 1995, one of the earliest gigs with Morse. That's the ultimate version, check it out.
