Thank you for always reminding us to make a donation to Operation Olive Branch! I've been making small but regular donations so it's been super nice to have you bring it up! I've actually become hilariously reliant on you because I'm like "Tom will remind me to do it. And hopefully they will remind me when it's time to replace my mascara." 😅
Makeup for me is so cyclical! I have gone back & forth with my preferences & application so many times over the years! It's fascinating to me how my style evolves, changes & then reverts back!
Definitely!Even without the yucca palette I will still be able to do similar looks. My plan isn’t to completely toss everything I never wear out of my collection. Just be really selective about the things I typically wear when my tastes change!!
I had the opposite experience with the Yucca! I bought it because I saw some really interesting looks with it on youtube, but then it just sat in my drawer for like 9 months. I'm typically more of a neutral look person. But suddenly when the weather turned warm this April I was like why has this been sitting in my drawer??? Why am I not using it??? and it's been in regular rotation ever since.
It's funny how preferences change. You're right about it happening so slowly you don't even realize it. My lip preferences have started to shift. For a long time i was all about browns, mauves and beige, and now I want bright fruity colors (watermelon, coral, peach). I'm sure it's because it's summer, so I'm trying to resist the temptation to buy all the punchy colors in case the desire is fleeting.
I totally get it! I always want to buy anything that’s mostly cool tones!! But as my taste has changed I’ve also noticed that I (mostly) have the stuff to do the looks I want to do without buying something new.
When eyeshadow first went out of fashion I thought I'd be the last warrior to forever wear it, but slowly I realised, just like you explained it happened to you, too - that I don't like palettes anymore. It just feels so laborous now, and just like you, I also only use like two shadows anymore. Shame though, because I have a lot of palettes :D I still do try find time and love to use them. Every time I look at a palette though, I still go "ahhh it's so pretty" - just like the yucca palette, even though it's like my least used palette ever :D
Oh I think all of my palettes are pretty for sure and I also understand people who keep palettes around because they may feel inspired by them again. But for me it’s beginning to just make less and less sense because of PR coming in and such.
I completely agree about the big palettes vs the midi. I prefer her bigger palettes. They seemed to have an actual POV whereas the midi palettes feel very run of the mill in their layouts. I would rather pay a bit more for something that feels special and well thought out. My tastes changed not long after that palette was released as well. I am such a basic girlie now lol.
Loving the glasses. 😍I am also loving this sort of content. It’s good to see when creators come back and talk about products they bought a while back to let us know how they feel about it and if it’s still as great as it was when first purchased. I’m currently trying to break this habit of buying all the new new items that drop. Especially eyeshadow pallets, which are my weakness. Content that revisits products purchased a while ago especially if it’s products, I also own is very inspiring and encourages me to shop my stash more often and enjoy all the wonderful products I already own.
I find making this content helpful to myself as well!! I feel like I’m constantly learning more and more about what I actually want and need from the makeup I’m buying, especially outside of being a content creator.
I think most people don’t need 2 grams of shadow per shade, most people wanna pay less for the same amount of shades but less of each. Viseart did the same thing and people were happy to get the same color stories for less.
