The difference is sociopaths are the ones who get fired for doing stupid stuff, psychopaths are generally more intelligent and have better impulse control, though can still get in trouble for the stupid things they do. Both lack empathy but generally sociopaths are created through trauma whereas psychopaths brains don't work the same as most peoples from the start. Also neither term is actually a clinical diagnosis they would both fall under the category of ASPD. Trust me I watched a few youtube videos on the subject.

If you are not guilty, there is no need to "clear" yourself and if you are guilty, it's not worth cooperating. There are no benefits to letting the cops conduct a polygraph test on you in any scenario.

Right?! Thats EXACTLY why I would refuse even if I am completely innocent! And that's why it's NOT admissible in court! The guy who created the machine was even campaigning against it because he knew how inaccurate it was! He tried to stop them from using it. There is no real indication to tell when someone is lying. Even body analysis experts don't really know if someone is lying or not and they STUDY body language and signs to look for when someone is deceiving you and what not.

And if it gives a favorable result they'll just ignore it.

The police might reduce audio/visual quality on film they release. The actual quality might show every bead of sweat and hear one hit the floor.

Unfortunately, there are no laws to restrict police from releasing altered footage, which in my opinion, can change the narrative by obscuring subtle details to the public.
