When a reboot is so good that… nevermind… they cancelled it, RIP Unfinished Huey Arc, Daisy Duck Arc, LP + DW’s adventure to becoming dads

Man... the best and most respectful reboot of the decade that made me love the old and new and it got cancelled. Its not fair. 😢

As somebody who has no nostalgia for the original Ducktales (just missed it growing up), I adored the reboot. It's just such a great show on it's own

Something else to mention is that the reboot also pulls a lot from the old Carl barks comics, which were more or less the inspiration for the original ducktales as well, it's were we got most of Donald's extended family and friends from and were he first got a more concrete personality other than "funny speech impediment". I'm too young to have watched the original ducktales so I had no connection from that, but what I did have growing up was a bunch of carl barks collection tomes that I'd borrow from my school's library, so the reboot holds a special place for me for respecting those just as much as everything else that came before it. Imo one of the best shows in recent memory, there wasn't a single episode I can say I wad bored, usually even the cult classics have a few duds.

I've always thought this shows most glorious achievement was finally bringing Della Duck to life as a flesh and blood character and I stand by that

Yup you hit the nail on the head. Perfection. Now Disney, I know I'm just shouting in the wind at this point but I really DO need a Blu-ray release of this!

I think it's perfect. I never expected to watch DuckTales and it brings a tear to my eye multiple times because I care about the characters and the situations being portrayed

I'm so glad they gave the triplets their own personalities, I literally can't believe no one's ever bothered to do it in the original, having THREE main characters with completely identical interchangeable personalities feels like an INSANE waste to me. Louie in this new reboot actually has some of the best character development I've seen in modern cartoons. I love how he always feels like himself but the way he approaches situations is COMPLETELY different in season 3 than it was back in season 1.

Find it sad that really good ones always get shadowed, but everything that's terrible is more. Remember in the public psyche.

Out of Disney shows like these I've watched, this has been my favorite since I started watching the first episode.

Great video as always, Geek! and to that Nick Sorenson guy shaming everyone for liking the reboot instead of the original, I'd just like to say, If you don't like the reboot, that's fine, but why shame other people for liking what you don't like? Like my friend said in the video, everyone has different preferences, and just because something isn't your cup of tea doesn't make it inherently bad, but publicly shaming people for liking something as insignificant as a reboot of an 80s cartoon is weird, embarrassing, and kind of hilarious.

As someone who was absolutely enthralled by the original series, I was so glad to see they put the effort into this one to make it even better. It is perfection to me as well, and though its cancellation is galling, I’ll always love what we got.

My favorite part was the Rescue Rangers cameo.

it’s such a shame this show got canceled, it was truly perfection! i absolutely adored it and cried a lot while watching it, these storylines absolutely broke my heart. im also sad that we didn’t get as much Huey arc as Dewey and Louie arc ‘cause there was definitely a lot to unpack about his character, stupid Disney had to cancel it. but still, im extremely glad this show exists, it’s an unforgettable cinematic masterpiece

The fact that the Reboot was full of great nods to the original show and the Disney afternoon isn't really what made it good, because even people who didn't grow up on that still tend to enjoy it. It's good because it's just really well made. Great stories, great characters, just a real damn good 10/10 adventure show. The nods to the old school is just a way to make it even more fun for fans of the old media. I'm 41 now and been watching cartoons since I was little, and this show is by far my favorite.

Agreed this reboot was AWESOME. Also gives the foundation for other reboots of various shows. Darkwing is an obvious one, but we could also have Tale Spin, Goof Troop, and of course Rescue Rangers. All rewritten to fit in the universe. The later of which could be like the original series, but no humans. Turn any human into an animal. I could see professor Nimnul as an Armadillo for example. Maybe even use that possible reboot bring back other disney characters, like Great Mouse Detective for example.

As someone who was a fan of the OG DuckTales and didn't think it was bland. The reboot was pretty solid, definitely better than most modern reboots of classic franchises.

I always wished they had done more with Lena. She’s probably my favorite character in the show and I think she was the best part of the first season, but they don’t really do a lot with her in the other seasons. She has a few episodes in the other seasons but she’s nowhere near as important as she was in the first. I honestly wish she had become a main character like Della did. She would’ve fit right in. Also this is slightly off topic but it always bothered me how quickly Webby got over Lena’s “death” in the season one finale. It felt super rushed and it’s one of my few big problems with the show

Thank you so much for this video. This series is criminally under appreciated. So watching this made me so happy. It’s obvious the DT17 crew poured their hearts and souls into this reboot and it shows. Making it one of, if not the best reboot that’s been released in the last decade. Shame on me when the first promo came out and my first thought was “Oh, great. _Another_ reboot.” 😅

Oh man, this video is way too short. ❤ As someone who grew up on the og Ducktales, I was absolutely enthralled with the new layers they added to the reboot. More people need to see it.

It is a fantastic show. But while I do think it edges out the original, the original was great too!

I won't say the reboot is better than the original because I've never watched an episode (nor have I heard about it before the reboot), but I LOVE this show. Definitely one of my favorite modern cartoons and favorite Disney cartoon (#1 favorite rebooted show ever so far).

Carl Barks(the duck man) would’ve been proud of the duck tales reboot.

I've just finished watching the show for the first time and you're completely right - I didn't expect to love it as much as I did, but it is exactly what a reboot should be, and an amazing show 😀

While I'll always prefer the original (because i love episodic shows and the art style.) i love and respect this reboot in how it manages to pay respects to both (og and Carl Barks) which is something you don't get from a lot shows. Its probably my favorite next to SD: MI, WNSD, Urusei Yatsura, He man 200x, Thundercats 2011. Definitely my favorite Disney show in the last decade next to Gravity Falls.

This series shows how a reboot should be it should respect the original and use the thing it had while staying at the same time being different enough it stands on its own feet and not like the teen titans go like what the fuck was that show

I never was able to wrap my head around the hate that this show got from the purists. Especially the whole "square heads" lark. Felt like they were just splitting hairs because they didn't want a reboot.

the only thing I didin't love was that we didn't get more out of those disney afternoon references. could have gotten shows in thier own right from it. well that and the rescue rangers being normal animals at one point has a lot of implications if they were to have done more.

No, please, sit in your studio and talk about how the ducktales reboot is amazing for an hour or two I love this show. From the moment ive walked into my sisters room when she was watching the pilot i knew it was something special It was the first series ive finished when we got disney plus. Im polish so it was a longer wait then most. And i fell in love with it in a way that is hard for me to articulate. I wish i had this kind of family. This series oozes adventure in a way i want to imitate in some of my own works. Its fun, energetic, fluid. The main problem with it is that its kind of hard to convince your friends to watch the ducktales reboot.

It always kind of annoys me how people barely talk about this show. It’s not like it’s unknown or anything. People always mention it when talking about good reboots but I feel like a lot of people don’t talk about the show much more than that which really sucks when it’s honestly better than the owl house (ya I said it). It does a great job of both being episodic well also having an overarching story each season that is really captivating. My only major problem with the show is that Dewey can get kind of annoying sometimes and he is easily my least favorite character

This was such an amazing show, I'm still salty that they cancelled it. There are so many loose ends and arcs that were cut out because Disney did not like the ratings. This is my favorite cartoon so far so I'm fairly upset it's over. Though while I do like it, here are a few things I'm not too big of a fan of: - Webby being Scrooge's clone/daughter. This kind of just ruins Webby's found family arc in season 1, which I don't think was intentional, in fact, the writers likely wanted Webby to finally feel happy since she has a huge obsession over Scrooge, but it does kind of ruin the whole idea of you choose who you're family with. But this did sink those Dewey x Webby ships so I'm happy anyway, lol. - Loose ends, such as Huey's uncompleted arc, and Jim Starling. I was hoping he'd show up again, but he was supposed to appear again in "Let's Get Dangerous" apparently but the idea was cancelled due to VA stuff ig, so I'm not blaming them for this one. - Bradford's ending. The ending felt a little cliche and could've been handled better. I wish the papyrus had been a little more literal since Bradford did work on writing it for several years, and "family is greatest adventure of all" was a little cringey. The greatest villian/final boss probably would've known better. But it's just a cartoon, so I can brush these off, it's pretty much perfect in every other way. The episodes all feel entertaining and Also, I'm still hoping that DW spin-off/reboot happens sometime, but it's been so long since it's been announced that I don't think it's actually happening at this point. But who knows, time will tell.

The only thing messed up with the reboot was doofus. He is easily the worst!!!!

I adore this show a lot! Although I'm not that huge of a fan on how some things went in season 3 mostly with how the ending feeling a bit rushed but that's just my opinion. Other than that, this is still easily one of the best reboots of all time and I should really give it a rewatch at some point down the line.

I had a weird history with the Ducktales reboot. I used to hate it when I was a Pre Teen after watching a couple episodes of the first season (It’s probably the bad episodes watched), but when I watched the good episodes on the season, I grew to love it. It really sucks there wasn’t any follow ups to the episodes they set up (*Ahem* Negaduck). Also, I’m probably gonna get annoyed by a ton of Webby fangirls, but I hated Webby in this. I’ve never seen the original Ducktales, but I’ve heard Webby was worse in that show.

My one and only critisism of this show is that they're changed my favorite character into generic arogant genius type. They've had interesting ideas for him (like that he treats his inventions as his children), but - aside from his introductory episode and one episode in the final season - they didn't do much about him. Which is a shame.

Disney made mistake canceling ducktales 2017 after season 2, forcing the createors to give a ending with season 3, when disney xs airs eoisides still today, its the most views that disney gets at one time every time, they need to bring ot back, even if its crapy disney+ only and not on the actual channel😢

I love this reboot one of my all time favorite shows. The only thing I could nitpick it that there are periods after S1 were Dewey doesn't feel like a main character. But it's not a constant problem and there are good Dewey episodes past S1.

I love the original series, so I knew I was gonna love the reboot! Wish we gotten another season though. But honestly, this new Social Media generation of kids don't have the patience to watch a cartoon with storytelling.

FYI the reboot didn’t do better, the original was wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the reboot, the reboot sucked, case in point there were video games based on the original DuckTakes but no video games based on the reboot
