My husband suggest that you put die in running water to see what flows where before digging it out. Good luck with job prospects and safe travels. Love your channel!
Abbey sad to hear you lost your job, hopefully you will found a other soon, enjoy your stay at home, and you have a great team, Thomas is really amazing..
I have so much admiration for all the work you are accomplishing. Renovations on this scale, you never know what you will uncover. And all the unexpected issues met along the way. The waterfall ponds are incredible. Thank goodness you have such dedicated skilled help! Happy holidays with your family State side! 💗
Sorry for your job loss. I went through that last year and decided to retire. Painful process but saying goodbye to a changing corporate world has been a blessing in disguise. Enjoy the holidays with you’re family ☺️
Thank you Abby for sharing your progress. So much has been accomplished…. In a selfish way, I am glad there is so many more accomplishments yet to enjoy. 🍾✨
Sorry about your job loss. Wow, that is a lot of water. Good for Tomas and Pierre for helping. Enjoy Seattle. We will miss the chateau, but you got a lot done.❤
Even with my elementary (grade six) Canadian French, I'm so happy that I can understand the French spoken in these conversations. Speaking it is another matter but I am impressed that you seem to be able to decipher most of what's said AND respond! Brilliant!
Bruce and Thomas are the best structural engineers on RU-vid. Restoring a chateau built on a plateau comes with unique problems but your guys are pros! Living in two locations got to be a nightmare for me so I had to make a choice. Life gets way too complicated being in two places at once haha. Love how you’re managing it though.
MEN in cave house lift tiles and put in wheelbarrow so NO DOUBLE LIFTING 😮 Tomas to the rescue. What an incredible amount of digging in wet mud, those men dug tons out 😊
Hope you have a wonderful time back home with your family, glad Tomas fixed the water and i love your videos however you film them, sorry for your job loss, i lost my job in 2016 and someone haf told me when one door closes another one opens, i pray that happens with you, you are very talented so i dont think it will be a problem i will say a prayer, just have a wonderful time back home and dont worry about things, God Bless
Abby, there’s so many ups and downs, with your château. Your over the drive of the side of the hill, drainage, little waterfall would look beautiful when the pool wall is fixed. One step at a time it’ll all come together finding all these little gems on your property. Safe travels and enjoy your family. Take care and be safe. Thank you.
Glad you got back to Seattle, and hoping for the best for the chateau’s “river”. I like the idea of a trench being set up under the driveway, and kudos for you that you have such patience along with good help from Thomas and others.
Look at all you’ve done!!! No wonder it’s hard to leave but the return will only be that much sweeter❤. Have fun with your family and we will be here when you return.❤❤❤
Sounds like this chateau surrounded by fresh Springs and foliage. This place was glorious in its prime. They’re lucky it’s in your care now. This is going to be an amazing renovation once completed. Tomas and his friends are rock stars. Have a wonderful holiday and get some rest. You’ve earned it ❤
I bet there was a beautiful garden ,once ,around your chateau ,You have a very interesting place ,But alot of work, your workers all seem lovelypeople ,👍
Sounds like Thomas is figuring out and fixing the water issue but the sound of it is so relaxing. Hope you’ll see a lot of progress made when you return your the chateau. Have a happy holiday season with your family!
I this the best Thanks Giving. You have to thanks God for so much presents during this year. Every step has been with gorgeous results. Difficulties have being lesson to adapt to new life. Hay time with your family, blessings and a big hug for you, my all admiration of strength and a wonderful woman. Regards
3:48 could you make that area bigger to hold more water? It’s a beautiful water feature. Love the sound of the bubbling water. Looks like you’ll have to dig out the pipe to see why the water is not going through. 😢 Those tiles are kind of cool. Could you reuse some in an outside patio or something? A nod to the past of the cottage. 🤷♀️ I didn’t know you worked for Microsoft. 😮So sorry you lost your job. What did you do for them? Yay! Toma fixed the blockage! You could always buy the furniture and have them hold it until Toma or someone can pick it up for you. I know it’s too late for this trip. 😊 36:22 could you put a rubber membrane in the pool to hold water? Idk if it’s cheaper than cement repair.
I think your water issue is from the homes up top. I'd check into having some sorta drainage , possible French drain to route the water so it doesn't flow down from up above. You'll have this issue always if it's not taken care of behind that wall.
There must have been a big sale on those tiles in Europe, there’s a RU-vidr in Sicily with the same tiles in their kitchen ❤. Beautiful town you visited ❤
The River Runs Through It ...( Good movie 🎥) I'm glad it's solved! Amen and thank You God 🙏🏻 The waterfall/fountain ⛲ will be amazing and peaceful! I just wanted to jump in and clean it up lol! Yay Chloe has more doggy grey hair, or is it my imagination? I'm glad you both are safely home ~ much love from the PNW ❤️✝️🙏🏻
Oh Boy that’s alot of digging and a lot of water. So happy for you that Thomas managed to fix the problem gives you a bit of relief before going back to Seattle. The Cider looked nice 😋
Abby save yourself an ongoing headache! A French drain to interrupt the flow and the water goes back into the water table. The reason you need to dig to bedrock is so any finite particle will flow out into the water. Great job your doing.
Kudos to you Abby for having a sense of humor in the midst of this mess, aka a river runs through the chateau. It’s true, a sense of humor will get you through most anything.
❤ it's sad on this side of the internet too when u leave France but it shows that u just adore the place , and 6 weeks will go quickly . Well I'm pleased Thomas unblocked the drain because it's been on my mind too thank goodness for that . That bottom pond will look neat once all the leaves are cleaned up pleased u taking down some of the trees theres a lot of space down there . Sad that u lost yr job but u could do more retreats remember the Adventure to France retreat I suggested a while ago u could hold 3 to 4 of those a year easily along with the painting and writing retreats Tile painting would be neat I think u can just use a oven like yours to set the paint . Anyhow enjoy the different life style in the US it's good to have change . Great video too . Hi Chloe 🐾🦒🐾🐌❤❤
Abby! when you were at the 1st brocante in Auch, The dining room set of chairs is the same fabric design as my curtains in my Sewing Room. How cool is that.
I don't think you even need to try to explain it. I believe we all understand how hard it would be to have to leave. Even though you're going home, family will be there, etc., it's still hard. I'm sad that you have to leave, but I'm looking forward to seeing any videos you put out while you're there. I think I've said it more than once, but Tomas is such a gem. I'm so glad you found him. The "new" waterfall is awesome! It'll be beautiful when the pool is all cleaned out, and it can hold water. I'm so glad that Chloe is doing well. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. A bientot!
Amazing work and repair. Will all be worth it in the end. Thomas was quite a find. I wonder if putting screening over your ponds in the fall would help keep them free of leaves? Or maybe not. I didn't know you were working for Microsoft.
You planned your time back in the USA perfectly to escape the stress of the interior "Cottage Pond". I hope they have solved the issue and it's solution is permanent before your return. Have wonderful holidays with your family!!
oh my I am so sorry Abby, water can sneak around & tracking it isn't easy...I love your sharing the brocante's...amazing prices to me...so much fun to watch Abby......hail to Thomas...
Other than all that mud , the Chateau is looking C’est Bon . That’s the extent of my French , High School was to many decades ago to think about !🤣 Good luck in Seattle and I hope it’s a great time there . And try not to think about going back, because we all know the more a person thinks about going the slower it goes ! I just got dizzy from that witticism !
Wow, the cottage floor is quite the project! Actually, all the water issues are becoming quite the projects, but you and your team are clearly working very hard to get them all solved. Enjoy your time in Seattle and Happy Thanksgiving!
I love Europe. France, Italy, Spain, Barcelona.. I always wanted to live somewhere there. But my live turn the path that are were the one I have to experiment and have lessons tand experience to be a better human being. Now I am 70. May late or not But May be I can go for visiting at least one of those places. . Let's see if I can to to a retreat some where.
Maybe would be worth it to re cement the pools. Maybe the small cave is a waterfall fountain. They had a water catchment system to hold water. Just figure it out.
Hi Abby, so great that Thomas solved the “river” issue. Woo hoo! Hey, just curious for an update on your pellet stove/heater? Did you get it working? Hope so and that it’s been cozy warm for you. I’d hate to leave that lovely Chateau too, but chin up, you and Chloe will be back at home in France in no time (to ring in 2024!). Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours ❤🎉😘🇨🇦
