Many believed that the Allies in WW1 underestimated the Ottoman army during battle of Gallipoli, allies suffered heavy losses and they couldn't hold the beaches for long, the only success allies had was retreating from the beaches.
It has been said that Winston Churchill did the planning of this battle, after so many casualties and achieving none, Churchill was mocked by his political rivals for his poor planning at Gallipoli.
This was one of top 10 bloodiest battles of WW1, and among few battles where Ottoman army stand its ground and gallantly defended their homeland, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk became hero after this war.
