I like to see more of your collections, Mighty Spector! And yeah, the early 90s Marvel. Hasbro should focus on that era. How about sharing with us about your Marvel Legends Spider-Man collections. You have almost all important characters in there.
One figure of mine in particular comes in mind, I purchased the Marvel Legends Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider with hellcycle but the bottom jaw was much smaller than it should’ve been and when the mouth was closed the figure had a pretty nasty overbite, so I was overjoyed when the retro card version was released so I bought it and display the retro version with the bike and the bike version with the transforming Johnny Blaze head attached
Good video! I personally like channels like this to have sort of no on-camera host in lieu of just the figures. With that being said...doing more on cam stuff will cut down the need to scour the web for slideshow photos. Which keeps it more in house
Yes, Spector, I am guilty of using replacement figures at times... the thing I am doing is replacing all my Legends with Hasbros newer pinless & photo scan tech on the faces. I just want uniformity across my figs. I need an updated Classic Captain America.
Slides and Images are really good, but there are times when just holding up a figure to the camera is the way to talk about it. I have some figures where I have duplicates of the same character. Placeholders are pretty rare, I tend to just display what I have and the collection changes over time. I do have a few Skeletors - same with Dinobots - and I'm quite happy displaying three Grimlocks side by side and it won't be the last time I buy the character so I'll end up with several either displayed together or so they can join other toys on different shelves.
Well as a Transformers guy, part of it is the engineering for how they transform. Sometimes you'll get one mode that's clearly a lot better than a different version. It's an interesting case with Bumblebee. The old Netflix one had an accurate car mode, having the beetle liscense, but the new Studio Series 86 doesn't rely on partforming and to me looks better in robot mode. I'm also glad Hasbro tries to get an alternate deco out of everything they can. My Thrilling 30 Hoist and Skids still look great, but I was able to get the Lift-Ticket and Burnout versions of their WFC/Legacy versions and it felt like I wasn't double dipping as much.
My buddy calls these Apology Figures. It happens a lot with Hasbro. He's whittled down his collection a lot, same guys getting redone every few years getting to him. For me, if there's a specific look I'll gladly get an Apology Figure. Like SS86 Brawn, they've made that version of Brawn before, but this version is definitely for me the best. That works for me.
Helps with Brawn that the old Titans Return was done with less thought on scale. While it holds up okay, I've got to admit the mini vehicles have been getting some engineering that is making me look forward to their updates (Gears was just so intuitive to transform for me), and I really hope we get Windcharger, Seaspray and Powerglide before we are done. And that BBTS eventually gets in and ships my Beachcomber.
Cable is rockin' the Kraft Mac 'N' Cheese yellow-orange! lol. Not sure why Hasbro gave the Iron Man Mark 9 suit the blue unibeam? Odd, since the comic version always had a yellow one. Not sure of the logic behind that one. I do wish that the Mark 9 suit had gold paint instead of the yellow injection molded plastic, which always looks like a "cheap toy" to me. The rubbery plastic that Hasbro's using doesn't thrill me much either, but their sculpting has improved a lot (as has their face paint applications). Despite not being a perfect figure, this Mark 9 figure is clearly a step up for the last one we got! Not better in the paint department, but better in every other way! I like the new Ka-Zar and Zabu as well. They're pretty nice!
@@nicholasdickens2801 Yeah, I've got to ask about Specter's opinion on this happening, and the Cantina Haslab in general. I was under the impression that these were two of the "Impossible" characters you were never gonna see. I'm also interested in his opinions on our new modular Star Wars Dollhouse display.
@@brettwood1351It’s been no secret that this was going to happen for months now. The surviving sister was quoted from an interview a few months back that she consented to having figures made. The whole rights thing was more of a misunderstanding/miscommunication thanks to Lucas being a stubborn bastard.
@@masonj4779Yes, like him being unable to admit that adults buy more toys now for themselves than kids. CNN has an article saying adults buy more for themselves than any other demo. It’s no longer 2013 and the industry had obviously converted to a more collector friendly mode over the years. I mean both Walmart and Target have an adult collector section in every store for years now and every online toy retailer and toy maker website is directly catering to adults.
I tend not to replace my figures as I usually can't afford it [always have to find something to do with the old one and people around here just don't buy secondhand things online], but I can see why people would. Although I'm just surprised whenever most of the characters I like get a figure to begin with.
Good stuff. Yeah, more of your collection when you have the pieces. Maybe 1st person view if you can set it up. See Toy Galaxy. Slides are ok placeholders but as-needed.
Y'know, technically that Hellfire Club Jean Grey isn't Jean Grey but the Pheonix Force impersonating her so you can let yourself off on that one :D Also I assume Cable's yellow is matched to his Marvel vs Capcom artwork because that's really the most famous appearance of that costume, the colour seems to match. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
The new Cable figure: I know that costume came out decades ago but what came 1st, the costume change in the 97 cartoon or the toy? Like did they put the costume change in the cartoon to sell the toy?
I suppose on the Iron man side of things I have two of I guess its the model three; I had the Hasbro version from I think Iron Man 2 which I was always a little underwhelmed with the articulation and managed to upgrade with the 80th anniversary Iron Man,(I still keep the old one to represent the horned version of the helmet). And in terms of place holders I finally got myself the 80th Captain America to hold out for the upcoming Mafex version

Per CNN, adults have bought more toys for themselves than any other demographic. Second place are 3-5 year olds. As anyone with a working brain and eyeballs has been saying, most toys are bought by collectors now then kids. This includes all toys and covid is the factor that kickstarted the chain of events to make this change occur.

Yep, all depends on who you're trying to market to. At best, anyone who doesn't remember 90's-early 2000's comic runs isn't looking in the figure aisle.

I got more than 200+ Optimus Primes in my huge robot collection, but I see them as all unique Primes. The many duplicates characters I have I see them from different universes.
Helps that different series versions are massively different. G1, G2, Armada, etc are all going to look, and transform very differently. *Looks over at Legacy Armada and Netflix Prime side by side*, isn't that right guys?
