The emotional moment when a Mecha tells it's pilot to trust. In my humble opinion, I think this is what made TitanFall2 special. It's the solid writing, the entertaining gameplay and the story line.
As far as I know, if you get BT to list of what happens if it fails, there is a 68% chance of success. Otherwise he doesn't throw you far enough and you fall.
"trust me" How is BT not ranked in the top videogame companions. Atreus, Elizabeth, Quiet and Ellie didn't even get near as close to me as this big chunk of metal and that reassuring "Trust me".
he doesnt have to look him up and down. hes been inside the cockpit so hes been weighed before but i love the way you said it so i imagined this from BTs Perspective
@@maxmark122 Yeah but E3N is too advanced for my liking and I don't like it. E3N is programmed with emotions, linguistic functionality, humour, sarcasm etc and it's "unnecessary." BT is still "a robot" with his mannerisms. Nothing he says is "emotional" or "in the moment." Everything he does is logically grounded. Anything unnecessary, he discards. He doesn't do the *thumbs up* gesture because he knows what it means. He sees Cooper do it, analyses and mirrors it to improve their bonding. Which is why most people like BT more.
I remember choosing the "maybe next time you could throw me" option on the fold weapon simply because I thought it'd be funny. Then we did this mission and I was like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
When you think back at it. "Trust Me" has a lot of meaning in this game,I can't help but feel that it represented the bond between BT and Lastimosa. The first time you hear it is from Lastimosta, if you think about it, BT probably had the words rubbed off on him while they were linked. Now you got BT saying the same words to Cooper, if there was ever a sequel with Jack, I can imagine him saying that to his new titan, or maybe even another pilot in training. :D
@@Snakekilla54 sort of, though that was his data core, a more physical form. I’m obviously no expert but maybe it’s different to the AI transfer because it also carries what BT needs to actually move and control a Titan? Something like that
It doesn't matter how many times I've played this game or just watched this scene. Every time he looks at your character and says "trust me". I get goosebumps, BT is such a damn good character.
I was following my titan, he approched a ledge and pointed outward into the distance. BT: "My scans detect a functioning Uplink Targeting Module. 428 meters in northeast." As I stare at the area he has indicated, I had an overwhelming feeling that there was only one way to cover that much ground during this desperate hour. BT: "My analysis indicates a throw is our only option here. I can throw you across the gap." As BT sets himself ready and leans over gesturing me to come over to his position. Cooper: "Are you sure about this?" BT: "There is a 68% chance of success." I walk back to the ledge looking at the gap... staring... as if this would be my last breath.. Cooper: "What about the other 32 percent?" I walk back towards BT as he replied immediately. BT: "There is a 32 percent chance of an incomplete traversal... resulting in catastrophic trauma, massive internal bleeding, and multiple compound fractures." "Dismemberment may occur." "There is also the possibility of electrocution in disintegration within the toxic fog below." *BT extends hand out* I could not believe I was about to do this. BT: "Wind: 3 knots, heading to 274. Range: 95 meters. Projectile mass: 89 kilograms." BT: "Trust me."
just think this. BT personality evolves when talking with copper, like when he says "im on fire" and stuff like that, stuff he learned from copper, he adds "expressions" to his dictionary from his pilots. now, when he says "trust me" he is probably quoting Lastimosa. [Example] Lastimosa: trust me BT. BT: side protocols say: I must obey the directives of the pilot if those dont go against the main protocols, though, trust is not a variant in that protocol. Lastimosa: no BT, when i say trust me, it means you dont have to worry about what im going to do... because everything is going to be under control.. its used to give confidece. BT: copy that pilot, expression added to dictionary. trust me, i added that expression to the dictionary. trust me, all systems normal. trust me, you wont get crushed by the cockpit. Lastimosa: its used to give confidence, not to give me creeps. BT: Copy that pilot.
this just now made me buy the game. Gentlemen wish me luck! Edit: coming back to this A year later... An incredible experience, loved this game and this moment.
SPOILERS I went into this game knowing BT would die, tried my best not to get attached, made fun of him a bit. I almost audibly bawled when it happened, BT wasn't just a friend or companion, he was a brother in arms.
If we ever get Titanfall 3, the campaign absolutely needs to capitalize on how fun it is to interact with a giant, talking mech. The fact that many dialogue options are mutually exclusive alone grants replay value. More dialogue options, and more dialogue overall.
"there is a 68% chance of success" me: *meh, two different kinds of contraception with a combined success rate of well over 95%, and I still happened* I've overcome worse odds.
Damn, Copper must be a small bloke. 89kg for a physically strong male, armour, fancy pilot tech, 2 weapons, a large electrical tool, ammo, and 3 ticks is very light.
“My scans detect a functioning Uplink Targeting Module. 428 meters northeast. My analysis indicates a throw is our only option here. I can throw you across the gap.”

"There is a 32 percent chance of an incomplete traversal, resulting in catastrophic trauma, massive internal bleeding, and multiple compound fractures, dismemberment may also occur, there is also the possibility of electrocution and disintegration from the chemicals within the fog."... BT you doing alright buddy?
i'm sure if jack cooper told BT what friends basicly is i believe BT would say: trust me on this buddy before throwing him if they bring back BT-7274 i'd love for him to ask what friend is while on a mission and jack cooper asks him why he'd like to know so BT replies probably with: as we were in the hangar i overheard a group of people talking to eachother and calling eachother buddy or friend and i'd like to know what they mean by that with that i believe jack cooper could reply with either of these 2: a friend is someone you like and spend time with who you also have some trust to and i am sure friendship can be build between people like me and A.I like you as we're eachother's companion or he could reply with: a friend is a type of companionship who you trust and like spending time with while you also like the person or A.I kind of like us 2 BT as i see you as someone who i can trust and like spending time with
