In somewhat defense of Peter McNeeley, though he did look pretty damn nervous during the in-ring stare down, he came out a lot more aggressive against Mike Tyson than many others who were pretty damn nervous about fighting Tyson. Michael Spinks could barely stand by the time the first round started, and he was champ at the time.

Another thing about that fight...McNeely was unheard of before he was hand picked to fight Mike....then miraculously, over night after being picked, he was ranked in the top 10 boxing contenders for heavy weight title fight. That tells you right there boxing rankings are a joke!

McNeely was chosen to be Tyson's first fight after getting out of prison. He wasn't anywhere near a quality opponent. He was getting a paycheck, and went out there and did his job. He survived without too much damage, which is more than a lot of Tyson's opponents could say. But thinking one of his easily-trackable haymakers was going to knock out Tyson...well, McNeely had his fantasies, I guess.

McNeely is a reach...he did the the usual pre fight rant....remember Tyson used to say stuff like "i am going to eat your children" and then he smiled at Tyson when Tyson was staring him down. Thats not being really cocky and if it is then Tyson was equally guilty of much the same things in the fight. McNeely knew he was going to lose...cocky people truly think they are going to win...they have already experienced the win in their minds are thinking about the after party whilst the fight is still on-going. Plus if you notice at the press conference McNeely is purely trying to sell PPV tickets by being larger than life. Look at Don King....he is proud of his boy, McNeely !!!, trying to sell extra tickets. He just wanted to pay off his student loans and buy a house. Mission accomplished. Thats not cocky...thats forward planning.
