Is it bad to be sweaty? Is it bad to be a sweat in fortnite? When did being a sweat become a bad thing answered.
Have you ever wondered "what does it mean to be sweaty or what does it mean to be a sweat"? If you have this is the perfect video for you. This fortnite nostalgia video breaks down the rise of chapter 1 and when fortnite got "ruined". That term is thrown around loosly, but I think it's when the gaming industry changed for the better. With fncs coming up and big names like Clix, Mongraal, and MrSavage playing, now is the best time to start watching tournament contents and learning how to earn.

@Jade-Edge838"tryhard" "too good" "overbuilding." At what point does a player reach this level of skill and who determines it? Fortnite building has a high skill ceiling and there will almost always be a player thats drastically better than someone else. New players will struggle with double/triple edits while intermediate players will see it as easy. Intermediate players will struggle to develope good peaking habits while its second nature for advanced players. Advanced players will struggle with the speed, finnesse, and build placement of creative warriors and so on and so fourth. There's more levels to this but the point is each level has a massive advantage over the one below it. At which point does it become too much?

The word people used back in the day was "tryhard". It was used for people who cared more about winning and would use the meta. These are the people who would dropshot and do callouts in public matches. Today, people call them "sweats", although I think the word is a little overused now. @@reidtheninja Personally I think casual players should be allowed to play for fun just as much as the competitive players should be allowed to do their best with other competitive players. The problem for me is when these competitive ranked players take their skills and competitively configured cosmetics to unranked matches and proceed to use the most confrontational emotes possible after each elimination they easily score, which understandably sucks the fun out of the game for some people. I've run into players like this multiple times so I'm speaking from experience. it's THAT type of "sweat" that I hate, and I've run into plenty of them.

It's because there's a difference between being good at the game and being sweaty. When you're good, you're good. Simple as that. But when you're sweaty, you wear things like skins that are one singular color and have a small hitbox (They don't so it's not giving them an advantage), and they aren't actually good at the game, they usually just cheese casuals by spamming

Reload cureently is filled with sweats. It doesnt feel good when you get knocked down by some guy 200 meters away, (plus being visually inpaired makes this extremely difficult) then proceed to reboot only to get shot down in midair, thus having to reboot again, and this goes on in a never ending cycle. No matter how far i try to leave the fight so i can basically calm down, collect my thoufhts and reloot, i still end up being shot down. This honestly hurts that i raged so hard as i did as i do want to get better and be my best, but it feels as if i cant when i keep getting knocked and shot down over and over by people who are just better, or who gets a high off getting kills. Aim training and practice can only do so much, and i dont think the AI bots that epic added to the game are any help either. Basically the only things i can kill. I doesnt feel like an accomplishment, just feels like a chore to get them out of the way and that im never going to truly improve. Its hard, truly.

I genuinely don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone being a “sweat”. If this game is something you’re really passionate about and you want to grind to be the best you can be, go right ahead. However, I don’t blame people for getting upset with the sweats. You mention CoD a lot in this video and I feel like I should point out that while CoD and Fortnite are very similar, there’s a lot about them that isn’t. The biggest one being the game modes. Most of CoD’s game modes revolve around dying (or trying not to) and respawning. While Fortnite’s main game modes don’t have a true respawn mechanic. If you’re playing with others on a team, they COULD reboot you assuming they get your card and dont get eliminated in the process of rebooting. But for solos or for anyone stuck in a sticky situation, it’s a one and done kinda thing. CoD was much easier to just pick up a controller and play for a little bit after work or school. You didn’t need to spend countless hours honing your skills to win or to even have fun. Fortnite’s battle royale game modes almost feel like that’s what you have to do to stand a chance of winning at all. CoD had killcams that showed you exactly how you got killed which in turn can help you improve. Fortnite doesn’t have that. You just die and go back to the lobby or ready up and watch someone emote on you. Also I feel that streamers and competitive gameplay in general has damaged casual gaming as a hobby. 9 times out of 10, if I’m not at work, the gym, or with my gf I’m on my pc playing a game. Whether that be a single player story driven game or a game like Fortnite or whatever just depends on the day and my mood and who’s online. I’ve found it much more difficult to commit to playing Fortnite or games similar to it over the last 10 years simply because of the people who do nothing but play those games (which again I don’t have a problem with). If the skill level is too high, it’ll stop new players from coming back just like we saw right before zero build was added.

It's not that I don't understand the argument that casual players dog a little too hard on players focused on honing their skillset. I just think there's some room for nuance there. For example, when I was a teen in the 2010s I was grinding the hell out of my preferred competitive game Smash for hours and hours a day, trying to hone my skillset as much as I could. These days however I'm a working adult and simply don't have enough time in the day to balance my responsibilities and logging the necessary hours into getting good at Fortnite builds. It just feels like sometimes "sweats" like to flaunt their ability to focus exclusively on grinding out creative 1v1 boxfights all day when I'm just trying to run a solid few games of BR after work is all 😭good video tho keep it up!

And cross platform is a joke PC has a unfair advantage against console players that's why all the competitive players all play on PC and the glitches because of frame ps where you can be behind a wall but some how the other player still hit you. @@reidtheninja I dunno, maybe the people who were sweaty and tryhard aspired to it, which makes sense. But those terms have carried a negative association ever since I can remember as someone who played games in the 90s. Even then, there was a stigma against people who were "too good" at video games, while at the same time there was respect and admiration within the _dedicated_ gamer community for those people. It wasn't until recently that I've noticed people using those words as a neutral category rather than a negative insult hurled at someone who was "overplaying". But I was mostly around casual players myself, not sweats. To me this topic being brought up just reads as sweats and tryhards who only just realized that not everyone has been wanting to be them this whole time. The term Tryhard long predates Fortnite. The first wiktionary entry for it dates back to 2006. Call of Duty came out in 2003. That gives at best only 3 years of "tryhard" not being derogatory when applied to that game's early years. Maybe you already talked about that stuff though. I commented before getting too deep into your video.

It drives me crazy that people just blame other people for being too good instead of thinking about their own actual skill. When did this become a thing? Like bro, they just need to realize that they are not as good as the opposing player, and either try to improve, or just not care that much. People need to realize that they won't get a 20 bomb every game.

Honestly it’s almost always been, even tho they were easier to afford an all that. It rly blew up when Fortnite pulled the halo effect in an age of social media, an gamer money. So basically the effect that always existed got louder an the only real thing that changed is public opinion on gaming. Sweats tho have always been bitched about, sucked off by their groups/friends/fans Small tidbit: another change I forgot is before you were MORE likely to get flamed for bein bad than good, now it’s kinda evened out

It's funny though because this attitude also permeates different "factions" of the gaming community. Not all gamers are FPS, BR, Deathmatch lovers. My younger brother is arguably a much bigger gamer than me in our adult lives. I got back into gaming in part because of Fortnite and teaching my son how to play with his friends. It re-ignited my old Doom/Quake/Unreal Tournament deathmatch memories and I dove back in. But I was always an FPS game style lover. My younger brother looks down on Fortnite. He thought Fortnite should have stuck with it's Save the World iteration, and he hates Battle Royale with a passion. So even as a gamer, he looks down on Fortnite and those that are good at it. And I know there are others out there with that attitude as well. To him, the recent Fallout collab was lame, simply because Fortnite did it. So, it's interesting. You are right. Fortnite changed the industry and the whole social landscape around gaming in a way we hadn't seen in a long while. Great take and great video as always. And while I don't play comps (I will probably give it a try soon just to see what the experience is like) I love the grind of learning and improving my skill mainly at Builds. I play ZB as well, but to me, the build mechanics were the truly unique gameplay aspect of Fortnite. And learning that new game mechanic is the challenge that brought me back to gaming as an old man LOL (47yo here yikes!). But I pay attention to your vids when they drop and try to incorporate as much as I can into my gameplay.

ive played the game since primal and my friends only like to play zero build so thats what i will play with them but ive been playing br with them less and less because i want to continue playing build and improving at it even as a casual, i dont think unranked build mode is "sweaty" at least from my experience playing it even in squads and alot of the time its easier to get a win when im able to rev my friend and not need to worry about the whole lobby sniping me because its end game and theres no cover except for a thin tree to which they just get sniped as soon as i finish reviving (how tf is this fun) zero build got really boring and not fun really fast for me and the only thing that makes up for not being able to build is having powerful items to mess around with like caps shield or the nitro fists also one of my friends started playing like chapter 3 season 2 the moment zero build dropped so to this day he has no clue what editing is and if i make a small base for us to hide in he will start destroying the whole thing leaving us completely exposed to the enemy team just so he can exit ☠

as a zero build player, i refer to somebody as a sweat when they use micro skills such as aim, tech, and apm to carry them rather than macro such as positioning, rotations, and resource management. these type of people arent "good" at the specific gameplay loop fortnite has to offer, theyre good at fortnite because they have good aim. theyre still capable of climbing ranks due to spending countless more hours practicing their aim and brute forcing through matches. thats why ive become disillusioned with shooters. it doesnt matter what quirks and mechanics a game actually has to offer because as long as you have better aim than other players, youll be the one to climb. having good aim is basically the baseline for playing a shooter. if you dont have good aim, youre not going to have a fun time. this wouldnt be an issue if there was a shooter that actually catered to casuals (think larger bullets, aim assist, longer ttk, no hard to learn tech, no apm check). causals like me would probably play that game over any sweaty shooter because i would actually stand a chance to potentially win rather than each interaction just coming down to an aim check.

Sweats are one of the main reasons why I’ve lost some of the love I’ve had for the game. I have been playing for a long time, starting all the way back in season 5, and I’ve seen how the community has changed, as well as how people perform in game. I’m not saying that sweats are bad, but rather how they act and what they do is what really ticks me off. They often take things too seriously, don’t usually have any sort of control when it comes to playing against people who aren’t as skilled as them, and my ‘favorite’, pub stomping. It’s something that I universally hate, because it just sucks out what remaining fun you can have. It’s why some of my friends don’t play the game, and I completely understand why. Just loading up a match of trios, only to get stomped by a team that miles better then you, on a fairly consistent basis is not fun in any real way. I’ve mainly sticked to no builds, because I’m partially handicapped due to being console stricken (my laptop can’t physically run the game), but even then my building skills aren’t bad, I’d argue they’re pretty good for a controller player. But when you pair that against a PC player, there’s no real chance in me every coming out on top. I don’t have a problem with sweats directly, rather it’s some of their habits (like pub stumping) that tend to make the game not as enjoyable as it could be. I often find myself getting annoyed at the fact that there’s just nothing I can do to really beat the PC sweats as a controller player due to some console limitations, but I never get frustrated or upset. The main takeaway is that sweats are necessarily bad, but it’s some of the things that they often do that really give them a bad reputation.

I feel like the most difficult part of the building mechanic is the editing. Building boxes, 90s, and whatnot aren't too mechanically difficult. But where I see many casual struggle with is the editing, piece control, etc. It's a lot harder to counter and perform than simply building. I feel like a mode that nerfs or limits editing would be good for those of us who like buidling but struggle with editing. One of my ideas is to limit editing to fully built structures, that way there's more time to react to and anticipate an edit.

I feel that what happens in fortnite is that the lobbies are too big for fair matchmaking so people who are not as good will always have one or two people who are a lot better than them, making the game just not as fun when they can play normally most of the match just for the last 2 circles to be a very big jump in difficulty. There should definitely be a bigger divide between competitive gamemodes and casual stuff, just because you are having fun getting better and being a "true gamer" doesn't mean the casual player should just not be able to have fun

Like you place that build, stop running, edit or place and edit then continue running forward. And do you hold the left mouse click when placing builds or release it after placing each build. Also in the video, can you show where you need to place the crosshair to put a build when building and where not to when doing different build mechanics like 90s, etc. to avoid mistakes. This will truly be helpful to me because everytime i try even on the slowest speed, i cant even do a single edit when running up a ramp. Ive been trying for months. 😭 Example is press W to move, then side mouse button for stairs and then other buttons for the rest please. It will truly help me if you can explain it to me like that.

I agree with everything you said in your video. Fortnite gets the most hate for sweats/good players Fortnite has one of the highest skill gaps in gaming. Imo going against a Fortnite sweat vs another game sweat is vastly different imo as let say for example, im pretty average decent at Fortnite lets say if i 1v1 a pro Fortnite player i wouldn't stand a chance it would feel like i dont stand chance because of the building mechanic it feels like they can hit me but i cant hit them and it feels like im just awaiting to lose and i will prolly lose every round unless its a 50 50 situation or i can catch them off guard basically luck or a good prefire. Now im pretty decent at r6 if i 1v1 a r6 pro they prolly beat me but i have a way more of chance beating a pro rainbow six player 1 round than a Fortnite pro 1 round. In r6 i could had beat the pro one round maybe if i had better crosshair placement, better aim, good movement all it takes for me to kill a r6 pro is one headshot and you actually feel like you can beat this pro atleast 1 round but in fortnite you stand no chance in most cases of beating someone way better than you.

I'm not totally garbage, but I'm nowhere near the skill level of the lobbies i get, and it's very disheartening. I make small improvements here and there when I have the time to game, but I can't hammer down on my skills because I have other things to do. That's my biggest problem; I don't have the time to dedicate to becoming as good as everyone else, because gaming is a simple hobby I have to unwind from a stressful day. I can't play all the time, which leads to my skills growing rusty, and I have to re-learn much of the stuff I had gotten. I still enjoy playing the game, but it's frustrating to have the feeling that I am not going to be as good, simply because I don't have the time.

I’m thinking of learning how to edit videos and since you have a really simple but effective style may I ask what editing software do you use? Btw great vid I’m watching it at 11:32pm over here.

I use premier pro, and for this video after effects too. It may seem simple on the surface but it takes hours and hours to edit
