I have kind of a luxury car. 2017 Ford edge titanium I was driving around in sport mode using the paddle shifters just having fun. I noticed a steering tighten up I could feel the Tires on the road again. Any RPM girl attire it was a lot of fun I never tried that before
Very cool! yeah that wheel tightening thing I feel it too but I've had people told me that my car don't do that... I just ignore them I'm the one driving not them lol
I actually tried sport mode in a Ford Escape on the highway at 70 MPH! The car goes into sixth gear anyway, therefore it is not an official overdrive off mode. The main difference is that sport mode holds lower gears longer than drive mode ever will. In that specific vehicle, you would actually have to go to sport mode and shift manually in order to keep overdrive always off, which I would not recommend doing if you are going on the highway. If you are just driving in town, that is a different story. I also tried sixth gear at low speeds to say this: if you drop below 40 MPH in sixth gear, the car automatically downshifts to fifth, then fourth if you drop below 30 MPH and so forth. Sixth gear is where you want to be if you are constantly driving on the highway at 55+ MPH. Fourth gear (or fifth if speed limits are between 45 and 55 MPH) is ideal for city driving.
thats cool for you, I wonder why Ford didnt just implemented that for us Taurus owners too? some other Taurus that I've done service on does the same as mine in Sport mode auto. it will not shift into 6th even at 80mph and yes when slowing down mine automatically downshifts as well. Toyota on the other hand has fake manual gears
Bushman Canuck I will try to look in car tomorrow and see, but for me sport is shifted into S and traction control can be turned off via computer using buttons on wheel but I've never been able to say "press traction button" twice thatd be insane though

@@Jerone5740 new trick I found....hold traction control button down for 10 seconds...this turns it completely off. Now you can drift! A simple click will turn it off but not completely. Search it on F150 forum 👍
some plz answer, in ford fiesta se can u just put it in sport mode and drive it like it was in drive, or will it go intomanual mode when u put it into sport mode???
sorry for not responding, Yes if you place in Sport mode the transmission will allow you to drive as though your in drive but the gears will be much tighter and will end up burning more fuel. the transmission will only hold the gears when you press the - or + sign behind steering wheel or on shifter in Sport mode

And REMEMBER if your going to hit speeds of 60mph and higher that our cars remain in 5th gear when in Sport Auto (S.A. is when you shift to sport mode and do not touch - or + sign) so at high speeds remember to press the + button on the shifter or pull on the right + thingy behind the steering wheel
super short answer: meh... maybe not if you have guest in the car short answer: You would be just fine but a quick heads up is that if your accelerating say up to 35ish miles per hour but need to almost immediately slow down the gears will feel tight so you may OR MAY NOT feel a harder than normal down shift. going off topic answer lol: and yes you can down shift but you have to be cautious not to double down shift too much (double downshift is when you are in Sport mode and coming to a stop you press the - minus button but at the same time the computer has the transmission downshift and you may feel that, so for me I only down shift if I'm cruising and want to speed up 50mph in 6th gear and want to haul A I can downshift twice putting the car in 4th and going from there. over all the car will learn your driving Characteristic and adapt to it. anytime I let someone else drive my car to do stuff or if I go away for a week and my parents use my car when I get back and drive the car it feels like its sluggish and don't want to speed like I like too but after a few hours its like "WHOA THERE BUDDY... to quick to shift"
