When you encounter a man that is picked for you by God - all of this “time” stuff goes out the window. It’s irrelevant. These are worldly standards. Each of you has someone that God had designed and prepared for you. Don’t be discouraged. My fiancé was in love with me before I was in love with him. While we were dating we both sought God about each other and received multiple confirmations. He proposed at 7 months. A man who truly loves you and is in love with you will go out his way and will do anything to make you happy. He will put your first at all times.

It makes sense to me. A man knows when he wants to fully commit to a woman. My husband told me he was going to propose after 5 months of dating. He asked my dad for permission at 9 months and proposed at exactly 12 months. Married a year and 4 months later. So we meet and were married 2 year and 4 months later. We both were young and didn't have much but we've worked really hard to get where we are now. We've been married for almost 10 years and have 3 boys ages 5 and under together. We are both African-American and didn't have children outside of our marriage. We both come from single family homes. We just both knew what we wanted very early which was a life with each other no matter how that life played out. We both wanted to live right and honor God.

This is so true! I am a 52 yo woman and I’m this way. It takes a very long time for me to truly fall in love with a man. I’m committed and faithful but love takes time. My marriage ended in divorce after 15 years. My main motivation to get married was to have children. Take your time ladies please!

I’ve been what I call “super single” my entire life bc I refuse to be vulnerable. Lacking vulnerability isn’t something that is exclusive to men. I can honestly say that my single status is partially because I won’t open up and be vulnerable. I’ve been doing some serious self reflection and soul searching, and I believe it’s because I lost my parents and grandparents fairly young. I’m fearful of loving someone so deeply then losing them, so I have this wall up that only lets men in on a superficial level. When I feel them getting too close, I do something to sabotage things such as ghosting or not reciprocating communication. It’s a sad truth, and now that it’s out... I’m free! Lol I appreciate your insight.

In order for me to want to get married to a man (if I do decide) I must see consisteny in his actions. Not just telling me he loves me but by his actions. Until then I am in no rush. I see way to many men who feel that women should chase them while he does little to nothing in return. And these same men will get into a relationship with a woman and get comfortable and the consistency stops.

My sisters have been married for over 10 years & they are not in love. They've both admitted that they couldn't get the man they truly wanted so they settled for a beta male provider. I refuse to be with someone I'm not in love with and I won't settle for a beta male.

In my experience a man will marry a woman who has a high level of self respect not only for herself but also for him. If she behaves like she’s special and has a lot of good qualities to give a man, then he will have even more respect for her....which includes not giving it up to him on the 1st night or even the 1st week. I’ve also found that the best relationships start as a slow burn which builds to a full on fire....and that’s why friendship and getting to know each other is so important, if you don’t have things in common what do you have when you take sex out of the equation! I’ve also found that if a man has a strong dominant mother, then men....despite common belief and something many men will deny....will end up marrying a woman who has similar behaviors to his mother because men like to be looked after.... not true of all men but if you meet a man who has a high level of respect for his mother then you can be sure he will also show you respect, if you have the same qualities as his mother....or at least the same qualities which he feels she has. Just my experience in observing my friends and their men and also those men with their mothers and how they treat them.

If the relationship doesn't work, you can walk away with your dignity and not feel bad about how you treated him as your husband by sleeping with him for 5, 10, or 15 years and he can walk away and marry someone he met less than a year.

Tony I love this video, for me being a female this is exactly how I felt finally on my third marriage... Long story short first marriage happened at 19 not smart, but I really put my heart in it. Second marriage happened at 26 more less was bamboozled. Got my things in order left I got my head's in order got my life back together got remarried at 35. I'm happy to say the healthier version of me took the time to discern what love truly was. I didn't go into my wedding day being in love. But I did trust God oh, and I did genuinely trust myself. i never planned a wedding or was thinking about a wedding dress at 10 or even in high school. my mother asked me at 16 why i did'nt have a boyfriend. i told her that having a boyfriend felt like i was in a cage. she said how is that? you never had a boyfriend. yeah, not every girl, young lady or woman is planning on getting married. i was imagining my career and my life. my brother fell in love with his now wife in two days over facebook. they got married in three months and are in bliss four years later. there are no rules and formulas ladies. just take care of yourself first, do things YOU love to do, live a life of integrity and put God first.

Totally understand and agree. After few dates don't hesitate to tell the man what my expectations are in dating including the timeline for dating. I'm not scared to scare him off . This sounds like a whole lot of generalities. I, a female, never sat down at any point & planned my wedding. Matter of fact, I told my husband while we were dating that I never wanted to get married. He was the one who was 100% ready & sure.

My ex told me when we broke up that he loved me (first time saying it to me). He only said that to 2 other girlfriends, the last he thought he was going to marry. This was our 2nd time together. No cheating or anything major, he just seemed extremely guarded and avoidant. Afterwards he clarified he loved me but wasn't in love, I wondered why any such powerfully charged words to me at all then? After this break up he was extremely cold and nasty towards me and wanted nothing to do with me. I didn't understand this treatment because even if I'm not in love but have love for someone and especially if I know they live me, I treat them with kindness and warmth to some extent, but he is treating me like I'm the worst person he's ever met and makes me feel like the crazy one when in reality I'm not. Thoughts? He said stuff during the breakup that was soul crushing like, I was a waste of his time, thought he was having fun but came to his senses, he was never going to marry me.....I thought then why the heck did you come back? It's been 8 months since our last breakup and ne never got a new gf. Then I see on Instagram he posted a pic about attending all these weddings yet still waiting on his. It's strange because it doesn't look like he's making any effort to be in a relationship. He always told me he's extremely picky and it takes him a long time to fall in love. Strangely when he said it to me during our breakup, the context really felt like he meant he was in love with me and he even said during our breakup convocation that he was falling in love with me but then did a pro con list and the cons out weighed the pros. I was going through a situational depression at the time and wasn't much fun to be around, but I still was a good person and good gf. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
