I'll never have to use a snow blower in my whole life in Australia unless I lived in the Barrington tops mountain area, Perisher valley or Thredbo during the winter time which is June-August over here !
Toro has commercial grade rubber paddles available for their single stage snowblowers. They're made with thicker rubber compared to the consumer grade paddles. Toro calls them 'Extended Life Paddles'. I installed on my Power Clear 821 QZE the rubbler paddles from the commercial model Power Clear 821 R-C . The Toro part number is 125-1128 blade-rotor . I love your channel Taryl , you have helped me to learn a lot and I've had a good laugh along the way.
Hey Taryl when do you think you'll get the sweatshirt that your wearing in this video back in stock? Been awhile since I've seen them on your site. Thanks 👍
If I have to replace these in the winter I lay the new ones on top of a nice warm radiator, that makes em flexible to make the job easier. The tough spot is the narrow spot on each end of the auger, you have to use a thin long nose vicegrips to hold the nut to get it started, it also helps to spray some silicone in the hole in the paddle that the torx bolt fits into so you can push it all the way in to get the nut started on the other side. I love these older Toros with the 2 stroke Suzuki motors. Light and powerful.
Taryl greetings to you and yours 🇬🇧 over here garden contractors use Flymo mowers mainly on grass banks. They are mainly known for their electric corded flymos
@@93sundance What did I use for paddles?3/8 in reinforced rubber and stainless steel nuts and bolts, I cut the rubber easily with a band saw. I got the rubber at a local rubber supply store. There are videos on RU-vid showing you how. It was a pain and the blower is noisy because of the modification, but it throws the heaviest slushy snow as far as needed. Good luck.
I didn't know about your channel until Jake showed you in a video. Great to subscribe to your channel. I am definitely changing my paddles. Thanks for the fun videos.
I see some guys on youtube putting that rubber paddle material on the 2 stage snow blower paddles, would you recommend doing this if so do you have a video of it or can you do a video on it. IF you recommend it that is.
I just got moved to Ohio from the Seattle area and bought my first flapper type snowblower from Snapper, very similar to the Toro you have there. It’s more work than it looks like, but thanks for the tips!
Great vid....🙂 Taryl....do you know where I can find a flywheel for a John Deere 826 Tecumseh Snow King 8hp that doesn't have the starter teeth worn down?
Taryl I've been keeping my single stage Toro going 26 years. Any place you recommend for replacement parts? Don't know how many scraper bars I've replaced.
I just bought a snowblower that runs well for cheap. It's scraper bar was worn and some of the bucket is worn also. I'm thinking of welding some mild steel flat stock to repair the worn bucket and then bolting on another piece of flat stock to use as the scraper. I figure 1/8 inch thick flat stock would make for a beefy repair and scraper. Has your shop ever done this sort of fix? If so, how did the blower work after?
On the curb sale blowers I picked up- that is what I do, and I weld 1/4 inch stock on the shoe plate bottoms rather than buy new shoes, Repair shops can't be bothered with doing stuff like that. Mike
I weld some beads of weld on the bottom of the skid plates. The weld is harder than the iron shoes. They may scratch the concrete for a while until they are flat. The scratches aren't that bad.
Great suggestion. We used a lot of it where i used to work,a pain to machine or cut.But it worked good as a non-marring surface.I like black DELREN also easier to machine but liked better. But I'm not sure about the low temp, making it brittle.
I have never personally owned a snowblower,I have never personally seen a snowblower,I have never personally needed a snowblower but il fight for your right to own and use a snowblower
We from Erie, PA know our snow, and don't consider those little single stage jobs with rubber paddles to be snow blowers, as they lack the second stage "blower" fan.
Originally 2 stage units were called snow throwers becouse they pick up and throw the snow further. Single stage units simply blow the snow outta the way. Snowthrower vs. snowblower. Try one of those new large 4 cycle powered jobs like the Briggs 250cc Serrated auger single stage units. Those will move some heavy snow regardless.
You can get a little extra life out of those rubber paddles by either cutting or drilling new holes further down into the rubber and pulling them out further. Money saving tip. $$$
Scotty Kilmer drops 2-3 short videos a day, but Taryl Dactai is the MAN when tt comes to wide ranging, clear how to repair videos. And he doesn't need a $5000 scan tool to do it. Have yourself a cold "Beverage", you've earned it.
