I propose the 'handshake' has a deeper meaning, and that coming of Elijah is CORPORATE in nature and it's really the coming of the Spirit of Elijah into the hearts of all Yisrael. And we open the door for Elijah during Seder to invite him corporately into our hearts, and thus fulfill Joel 2:28 "I will pour out my Spirit and your children shall all prophesy" .. the spirit of Prophecy is the Spirit of Elijah, coming to all Yisrael . and in this way, Yisrael, with the Elijah Spirit within them and the mantle of Nave'im upon them, they will be able to boldly announce (together corporately) the coming of Mashiach. . just a thought
